You Are Deep in The Stars

Chapter 35 - Did You Kiss Xiao Bai? I

In order to prevent further incidents, Daisy took Zhao Xiaojuan back to the bar that night and made sure they had an appointment at the Benin Clinic for the next morning. Wu Zigang had no objections to this. In fact, the most intense struggle and confrontation were happening within him at that moment—though he was eager to obtain the peculiar fetus, he was even less willing to become an enemy of Han Zhuo. After careful consideration, he finally sat down on the sofa and watched the group leave the apartment with eyes that were almost bleeding.

“And you?” Han Zhuo asked quietly from the back seat of the car. “Where do you want to go tonight?”

“Besides Xinghai Road, do I have any other choice?” Bai Xi wondered.

“Of course, you could come to the bar. There are plenty of lovely rooms there, just like princess castles in fairy tales,” Daisy interrupted their conversation while driving. “What do you think of that suggestion?”

“Thank you, but I’m not a fan of princess castles,” Bai Xi replied with a smile.

“You could pretend to like it,” Daisy said cheerfully, stepping on the accelerator and deciding for him.

Mr. Han groaned silently.

Bai Xi didn’t object much; going to the bar for a drink suited him fine. He took out a few toffees from his bag and offered them to Zhao Xiaojuan in the front passenger seat. “Would you like one?”

“No, thank you,” Zhao Xiaojuan declined politely, then asked timidly, “Are all of you… superpowers?”

“Yes, we’re all the same kind, so there’s no need to worry or be afraid,” Bai Xi reassured, leaning back in his seat and snapping his fingers. “After tomorrow, a new life awaits you.” His smile was youthful and sincere, filled with contagious vitality and hope as if just sitting there exuded energy and optimism.

Zhao Xiaojuan smiled in return briefly, but the relief lasted only a moment before clouds returned to her face. She asked with concern, “Huang Jingyuan and the underground warehouse, do they also want to capture you?”

Bai Xi glanced at Han Zhuo.

Mr. Han nodded subtly.

Bai Xi continued, “They think about it and plan meticulously, but they fear our superpowers and have never dared to confront us directly.”

“It’s because of my superpower. You have nothing to worry about,” Mr. Han said, ruffling his hair gently despite his stern tone.

Bai Xi scowled, “Did I give you permission to speak?”

Han Zhuo mimed locking his lips shut.

Satisfied, Bai Xi leaned back in the front seat and continued chatting with Zhao Xiaojuan.

Daisy glanced at her son through the rearview mirror with a meaningful smile.

He was quite charming.

Truly charming.

“Miss,” Mr. Han said pointedly, “please pay attention to your driving.”

The car leaped into the air and slid into Qiye Road almost as if drifting. When it landed, it left clears scratches on the ground. If it were in a movie, sparks might have flown.

After a minute, Bai Xi unbuckled his seatbelt slowly, realizing for the first time the dependability of Mr. Han. He was undoubtedly a skilled veteran driver with a calm demeanor—driving with him meant not fearing being thrown out the window or forced to endure heavy metal rock music.

“Good night,” Zhao Xiaojuan said calmly after they arrived.

.

“It’s so unfair,” Bai Xi muttered weakly as he slumped in the bar corridor. “Why do even pregnant women manage okay?” He nearly vomited from the motion sickness.

“Different physiques and concerns,” Han Zhuo explained. “She’s endured so much pain and torment that a little car sickness won’t affect her.”

Bai Xi nudged his shoulder, saying, “If only your little stars could grant real wishes.”

“May the Earth be peaceful?” Han Zhuo suggested with a smile.

“May the universe be peaceful,” Bai Xi replied.

Different from the hustle and bustle of the bar, the room was very quiet, so quiet that the only sound was the wind.

Bai Xi sat in the corridor, leaning against the wall, and remembered what Han Zhuo had said earlier.

“The human army will always fight for the peace of mankind.”

“There is actually nothing wrong with this. People with superpowers will always be powerful and threatening invaders to the earth. It was a great blessing that the two parties could coexist peacefully until today. As for what would happen in the future—power imbalances, competition for resources, massacres, wars, and even the potential demise of certain ethnic groups—no one could predict clearly at present.”

“The human government should be wary of people with superpowers, because that is their mission and responsibility. So, the biggest mistake now is that the government has not formulated a relatively reasonable plan to better integrate people with superpowers, but instead chose to cooperate with the underground warehouse to explore the secrets of aliens and protect their homeland in the simplest and most crude way.”
