You Are Deep in The Stars

Chapter 35 - Did You Kiss Xiao Bai? II

“What are you thinking about?” Han Zhuo sat down next to him.

“It would have been great if Wu Zigang wasn’t so anxious,” Bai Xi said. “Cooperate with the government and use Earth’s power to return home. If such a day comes, the scene will be unprecedentedly glorious and grand, and it will be recorded in the history of the universe forever.”

“Wu Zigang? Actually, his dream isn’t wrong; it’s the means that are wrong,” Han Zhuo said. “So, we may have to do two things now. First, help him realize his dream, because it’s also the dream of most people with powers. And secondly, ensure that all experimental plans of the third laboratory are terminated early, under the premise that the dream can be realized.”

“I understand,” Bai Xi nodded, then hesitated. “But without experiments and data, what will Wu Zigang use to exchange resources with the human government?”

“We can take it by force,” Han Zhuo said, putting his arm around Bai Xi’s shoulders. “I know Shi Tian. The reports he has handed over to the human government over the years are only about three-tenths of all the experimental data in the underground warehouse.”

Bai Xi’s eyes lit up. “Really?”

“Really,” Han Zhuo smiled. “So, you see, you don’t need to save the Earth, but I have to save the people with powers.”

“I’ll stay with you,” Bai Xi said generously.

“And if I encounter danger?” Mr. Han asked.

“I will protect you,” Bai Xi said solemnly.

[I’ll protect you.]

It was the first time in many years that Han Zhuo had heard someone else say those words to him. For some reason, his eyes felt uncontrollably hot, and soon, that feeling spread to the depths of his heart.

So, Mr. Han reached out to hug Bai Xi, saying with a smile, “Okay, then please, you must protect me well in the future.”

Was a hug required? Bai Xi was taken aback by the sudden hug, but he still patted Han Zhuo on the back in response. “Yes.”

Han Zhuo had no intention of letting go; his arms around Bai Xi were like iron hoops.

Bai Xi: “…”

After a full five minutes, Bai Xi hesitantly asked, “Are… are you crying?”

Mr. Han did not answer.

Could the warriors who saved the future be so vulnerable? Thinking of this, Bai Xi’s heart suddenly softened, swelling up like a lemon cake suddenly expanding in the oven. He ran his right hand through Han Zhuo’s hair, rubbing it as if soothing a child, and said softly, “It’s okay, I’m here.”

Han Zhuo asked, “What can you do?”

“You underestimate me, don’t you?” Bai Xi teased, grabbing his ear. “Besides fighting and cooking, what else am I inferior to you at? I’m not even afraid of Aunt Li, unlike you.”

“Yeah,” Han Zhuo rested his chin on Bai Xi’s shoulder and smiled faintly. “You really have a way with not being afraid of Aunt Li.”

Hugs, whispers, each other’s body warmth, and synchronized heartbeats filled the moment.

As the atmosphere became just right, suddenly the symphony of “Wedding March” began to play in their ears.

Bai Xi was startled and immediately stood up, asking, “Is this a sneak attack alarm?”

Mr. Han gritted his teeth. “No.”

Bai Xi hesitated. “Then—ah!”

Han Zhuo swiftly guided him back to the bedroom.

“Yes!” Daisy turned off the speaker and resumed applying lipstick, highly satisfied with the surveillance footage she had just viewed.

“What’s going on?” Bai Xi continued to inquire.

“The playback system is malfunctioning. This happened often before,” Mr. Han lied without changing his expression.

Bai Xi looked skeptical. “Really?”

Han Zhuo curtly replied, “Good night.”

Bai Xi: “…”

Not keen on continuing the conversation?

Mr. Han hurriedly walked away, nearly escaping the bedroom in a hurry. Bai Xi had no choice but to shake off the sheets and prepare to count sheep to fall asleep. The room indeed resembled a princess castle, adorned with light pink and cream white hues, bunny slippers with pearls, and even a little elephant folded from a bath towel on the bed, akin to a hotel room.

Were all rooms like this?

After a bath, Bai Xi laid on the lace quilt, pondering.

Did Mr. Han’s bedroom look like this too?

Hahahaha.

.

“Mommy is really disappointed in you.” Daisy, in a bathrobe, lounged on the sofa with her feet up, smoking.

Han Zhuo turned around, aware. “I’ll sleep next door; this place is all yours.”

“Do you know why I’m disappointed in you?” Daisy exhaled smoke rings leisurely.

Han Zhuo shook his head helplessly. “Xiao Bai and I—”

“Xiao Bai is adorable, but this issue has nothing to do with him.” Daisy casually activated the large electronic screen behind her. “I’m disappointed because you’re focused on love and neglecting such an important matter.”

Han Zhuo frowned. “What are you talking about?”

“It’s the attending doctor from Benin Clinic. In Qian Ning’s call log tonight, there’s a fifteen-minute call to Shi Tian, right after talking to Dr. Wu,” Daisy tapped the cigarette ash. She smiled as she raised her head. “What do you think will happen tomorrow?”

“Are they planning to snatch someone?” Han Zhuo inquired.

“They wouldn’t dare openly snatch someone from you in an underground warehouse, especially since Shi Tian has always wanted to win over you and that hot-tempered bartender, what’s his name now?”

“Wang Yuanchen,” Han Zhuo replied.

“So, unless you somehow deeply offend him one day, Shi Tian will always wear that fake, disgusting smile,” Daisy said. “My guess is Huang Jingyuan plans to secretly take something away tomorrow, perhaps even destroy the embryo to prevent Wu Zigang from continuing his research. Shi Tian’s meds can do that, and you know it well.”

“Are there any reliable clinics?” Han Zhuo asked.

“I’m taking Xiaojuan overseas tonight to meet your aunt on the West Coast,” Daisy replied. “The flight leaves in three hours.”

“Is there anything else I need to do?” Han Zhuo nodded, turning to pour her a glass of water.

“Just explain everything to Wu Zigang tomorrow morning, and hide what needs to be hidden,” Daisy replied. “And if I were you, I’d see this mishap as the perfect opportunity to deal with Huang Jingyuan.”

Han Zhuo paused. “Huh?”

“Use your own brain, little handsome boy.” Daisy adjusted his collar for him, her eyes full of love and sadness, “Mommy is old and can only teach you how to fall in love, so now there is only one last very important question left for you. Did you kiss Xiao Bai?”

Mr. Han replied: “I wish you a safe journey.”

Mrs. Daisy sighed regretfully and made a “too weak” gesture to him.
