Chapter 13: 12. Subjugation (3)
The atmosphere was cold and threatening; Katnese gaze did not shift away from the fairy who looked down at her with a hand up, thinking she would be done for; she anxiously waited for her end, petrified on the spot.
Cadell brought down her hand and looked up at the obelisk; she received some information regarding the test areas of another administrator.
"Sorry for keeping you guys waiting; as you might have guessed, those who are late would be taken down," Katnese breathed in relief seeing the fairy backing away.
"You see, for the next step, space is actually limited, and subjugation bracelets aren't enough, so some of you guys would have to step back," said the fairy with a smile; a shiver ran down everybody's back.
"Don't worry, those stepping back would not be killed; the contrary, they would be sent back to their world; the inconvenience about this situation is that they would not have any memory of what occurred," said the fairy; people breathing a sighed of relief and were excited on the proposal.
"They would be a headcount, and after the number sent back reaches it, the door would be sealed forever; you wouldn't have any means to go back," said the fairy; everybody nodded.
Clap!
A red and ominous door showed up, covering half of the dome circle, the red gate slightly transpired on what was on the other side.
People gasped at the sight; a woman not far away took a step back and vomited on the floor.
"What the hell is this, this isn't earth!" Said a man closer to the portal; everybody agreed with him; this could not be earth.
"I understand their confusion; I felt the same; however, that was really earth, or to be precise, the earth a thousand years later," Thought Ethan.
Within the Portal, the other side was in a chaotic state; strange creatures roamed around; just from appearance, they were definitely not the friendly type.
"As you can see, a force outside of our jurisdiction has invaded Earth; unfortunately, only ten percent of humanity is still standing, and from the Chronos report, it will surely decline in the next ten years due to the next wave," Said Cadell.
"What the hell!" Lazar was the most devastated, thinking of his lucrative business, he was bitter.
He wasn't the only one angry; Captain Alex clenched his fist, seeing the burning homeland.
"Our kind god did not want such wastage, and a trade was made; a huge number of humanity would be bought in exchange for certain benefits, and here we are, but we can still send some of you guys back," said the fairy.
They were traded?
That's what hit them hard; some kind of omnipotent beings traded them as slaves between worlds, disposed of, which means they were doomed no matter what side they chose.
"So, who is going back?" Asked Cadell, loving the faces of despair they all carried; it amused her very much, and she thought of spicing it a little for the watcher.
"Think fast; you don't have much time left," Said Cadell; it was only at that moment they realized the shrinking of the dome.
"By the way, let me take this opportunity to present to those who stay behind their next destination," Said Cadell.
The distance horizon, a tower with a summit piercing through the sky could be spotted, its appearance was apocalyptic, with chains connected to it; some of those chains went through space and dimensions connecting to the tower, and sometimes, they could see the chains being violently pulled forward.
"When did we start flying?" Asked Alex; he walked towards the edge and looked down, but only saw the burning town engulfed inside a strange darkness.
Ethan also walked towards the edge; in the past, he was too frightened by what was going on around him, the portal of the hellish earth plus the tower's shadow and the roaring they could clearly hear each time those chains moved.
He was focused on all that and did not pay attention to the blackness creeping towards them; even the fairy hadn't paid attention at first.
This was the first time they encountered the abyss, but nobody paid attention to it; in the end, it was that carelessness that caused everybody's downfall.
He was still trying to figure out who created this creature eating everything on his path.
Alex took a step back, the ground crumbled, and the circle shrank once more. The gradual reduction of the space frightened everybody; people started thinking about the positive and negative aspects of the two worlds.
"Shit, I am going back; at least, I would die in my world," said one man who ran through the portal. The moment this man crossed the door, digits showed up.

The red portal shrunk instantly; people soon realized the limitations of the offer and decided to cross to the other side in mass, leading to the number dropping rapidly.
"I want to go back, leave me!" Said a woman pushing everybody.
"Fuck, getaway, me too, want to go back!" Said another.
People started to frantically try to go through, and before then, the number was already in two digits, and the last person passed through the shrunken door, which immediately shot down.
"Good, seems like the exact number of 200 people have gone back; let's all pray for their safe journey. " The fairy smiled; the remaining people cursed silently at her, fearing her anger; they did it secretly.
"So, hmm... 697 people left, this is still too many, but whatever," She said.
With a snap of her finger, everybody fell and arched pain on their right hands; looking at their hands, a bracelet extended to their elbow, a dark and crafted bracelet, emitting blue luster with intricate patterns drawn all over, if not of the situation being chaotic, they would have loved such designed.
The temporal panel broadcasting their stats eroded and was swallowed within the bracelet; all the stats they acquired were fed to the bracelet; the more it had, the brighter its blue luster.
"Brace yourself," said the fairy. The captive did not understand until a sharp and atrocious pain struck them.
It was like their existence was being trespassed, sucking away their energy and soul.
Katnese staggered and kneeled down as she vomited blood, her body spasms uncontrollably; she wasn't the only one; some people started regretting why they didn't cross to the other side when they had the opportunity.
Ethan wasn't exempted, despite knowing and having already faced the pain. This body hadn't, and the backlash was huge, "be strong," He said; this wasn't directed towards him, but to his younger self; the soul was trembling in pain, shaking his own soul in the process.
