Veil of Dusk A dystopian world

Chapter 31: “Switch and Snatch”

Kyro felt the pressure – time was working against him. But he stayed calm. "Skybound," he thought, focusing the resonance on a single point ahead of him. Immediately, an invisible trampoline of air formed, launching him upward as he sped toward the crystal with lightning-fast movements.

The hunt for the resonance crystal had begun. Kyro knew he had to be quick – every moment, every decision could determine the outcome of this fight. But the twins had their own plans, and with their speed and flawless teamwork, the challenge became greater than he had expected.

It was a gripping head-to-head race between Neo and me. With one final push, I managed to snatch the resonance crystal just before Neo's nose. Adrenaline surged through my veins as I held the crystal in my hand and felt solid ground beneath my feet again. But as soon as I landed, Nia was suddenly standing right in front of me.

"Shit," I thought, "I better run before I have to take on both of them at once."

Just as I turned to flee, I heard Neo's voice behind me: "Now, Nia! You need to be close enough to use the Aether Resonance!"

A moment later, Nia shouted, "Switch!" – and she was simply gone. Confused, I stared at the empty spot where she had just been standing. In my hand was not the resonance crystal, but a small, insignificant metal orb. "What the… Where did they go?" I thought, panic rising. "They couldn't have just vanished into thin air!"

"Fuck, fuck, fuck!" I cursed out loud. I had almost gotten the crystal – and now this. Two against one – this was just unfair. I had already wasted 15 minutes, and that time felt like hours in my head. If I wanted to beat them, I needed a plan – and maybe someone to jump in and back me up. But who?
