Chapter 9: maiden oh so fair
I had become much richer than previously, I had gotten the golden coin from a fair maiden who had no guards but seemed quite rich, I know not why she was there maybe she had fled from her family. I did not care maybe this was her last bit of money after she fled and now she had to return to her estate or wherever she came from. maybe she was just a merchants son. I noticed then that this just did not matter I was here not for her but for my wife I needed her back and I am sure she needs me as much as I need her.
I started redoing the runes on every one of the coins starting with the gold one, when I started working on the gold coin I noticed that the pattern on the gold coin was way more complex, it was like comparing some scribbles of a kid and a work of shakespear. Or comparing an idiot to the worlds smartest man, almost impossible. The lines were more intrecate no where near the intricacy of my avarage work but it was levels beyond the previous coin, I then decided to put the coin aside and grab the other coins I was more familiar with starting with all of the silver coins.
I completed 10 of these coins before I heard a knock from the door. I stashed away my items as quick as I could hiding them in the corner of my room, due to my quick speed from the VAMPIRISM gem I was able to do it in less than 10 seconds. I then stashed the coins in my pocket and walked towards the door. "Coming!" I said in a loud enough voice so the person infront of the door could hear me but no one else would hear it not even through these thin walls.
Infront of my door was the maiden I had seen on the street who I had robbed just a mere minute ago. She appeared to be very dignified though she was wearing very manly clothes. A t-shirt which I would have expected in my old world but not here and a pair of jeans. She had fair blue eyes reflecting the things she saw. Her nails not to long but also not too short just barely at the perfect length. Her hair, coloured blond, reaching just to shoulders not too long almost as my wife's hair had been back than yet a bit shorter. No blemishes could be found on her face. I would consider my wife a bit more handsome but besides her gentle and kind words her personality and how she acted towards me had become but a vague memory of the long by past.
"What did you come here for?" I said in a deep raspy voice as I would usually talk but a bit more upbeat as she had reminded me of my wife.
"You stole my money." She said not beating around the bush and immediatly getting to the point.
"I did no such thing, I would never even think of doing such a thing." I spoke suprised that she had found out but also suprised that she had the guts to come over to the place of a person who robbed her even though she was probably way weaker than them, I would never have been able to do that. Going somewhere knowing that I could die.
"Yes you did, you do know gold coins have trackers implanted upon them right?" She asked me accusing me of stealing and also telling me that I am an idiot for forgeting something like this. Ofcourse I did not know this because I had just gotten here a day ago.
"Do you have proof that I took your coin? If you do we could talk about it but without proof I am not who is going to believe it?" I asked trying to scare her off from this, trying to make it so she would just leve instead of continue talking to me. "I could kill you, you know."
"You wont kill me, I know that for sure."
"And how are you so certain of that?"
"My magical gift: 'truth'. It alows me to see the truth once a day and toda I have chosen to see whether you will kill me or not and through this it has been decided that you will not try to kill me today." She said looking me dead in the eye. "Could you please give it back to me, dont worry I wont tell the bank I am a nice person."
I would have just given it to her were it not that I had tampered with it before she came here. Only a bit but I had still tampered with it which would make her suspisious when she went to buy something with said coin.
She looked so much like my wife I could never do that to her. I could not hurt someone who I loved even if it was just a mere image of them.
Then she spoke again: "I also know you killed those two guards at the front of the city, people have been searching for the culprit for this entire day. They even asked me as I had introduced myself to the chief of the town as a fortune teller so they must be desperate. Don't worry I didn't tell them about you, but I might if you don't give me back my money."
"As you said I won't kill you, but some fates are worse than death." As I said this the lights shine fell upon my teeth sharp as knives. "You should think before you do, sometimes that is the wisest course of action. I do not do this, I do and then I think. I am an idiot and you could have had an entire life ahead of yourself but you just had to ruin it with your own stupidity."
