Chapter 442 - A Illusion, A Trick...
After uttering those words, Aiden turned around as he placed the fact that the Everheart Family was in great danger.
As much as he wanted to go and help them…he simply couldn't. He needed to put his own priorities in front of everything else as a lot more people were depending on him, considering whether he would fail or not.
His battle against the founding families' leaders would determine the outcome of the war. So, he needed to forget about everything that could potentially affect him against them. Nevertheless, what he really needed to do right now was find where they had headed.
He thought about how to do that without wasting any mana, but he realized that he would have no other choice but to use Mana. He activated his movement technique and started moving around extremely throughout the mansion. He seemed like a blur of lightning for everyone around. But he was truly able to see everything surrounding him.
'Just where are you fuckers…' Aiden thought with a frown.
Soon enough, he managed to find them as they were in the middle of a huge space, and from how it looked in the surroundings. Aiden managed to realize that they were standing in the middle of the training grounds of the Nightshade Family.
"Ah, you're finally here…" Sylas said with a smile. "It took you longer than I thought. So, you decided to give up on your girlfriend's survival to kill me. Well, I can't say I'm surprised. I would've done the same."
Aiden frowned. "She's going to be fine."
"Oh, right…keep thinking that. You'll see her without a head attached to her body when you return."
Sylas gave his best to make Aiden doubt all of his choices, and it worked.
Aiden focused on pushing Emma's well-being to the back of his mind, closing himself off from all of his emotions just like he had done so many times in the past.
The rage within himself, suddenly vanished. The worry, the anxiety…also vanished. He was now emotionless as he took a step forward.
He suddenly vanished from where he was standing and reappeared right next to Sylas. He had tried to cut off his neck in one swift motion, but Sylas had been on alert, blocking his strike, surprising both Thorin and Melinda as they hadn't even seen him move.
"Not bad. You almost had me there," Sylas muttered.
Aiden raised an eyebrow as he went right back in again, trying to cut off his neck again. However, there was no point in such simple attacks as Sylas managed to counter each of them with his eyes closed. He needed to do something else.
Aiden didn't want to use his Demonic Form right away as it would make him spend a lot of energy right away and he still didn't know what Sylas had planned. He remembered hearing Sylas saying that it would be stupid for him to fight directly against Aiden, so he must have a plan in the back of his mind for standing in the middle of nowhere.
Instead, Aiden decided to use some of the magic he had learned while he had been training for a year.
A immense fireball formed over his head and headed for Sylas at the same exact time as he dashed forward. It moved extremely fast, causing wind to propagate itself into the air even faster than before.
Right as the fireball was about to land on Sylas, he disappeared and reappeared just a few meters away from the huge explosion.
Aiden realized that this approach wasn't the right one. He needed something to keep him right where he was. He needed something to completely immobilize him so that Aiden would be able to land a hit on him.
And Aiden instantly thought of a spell he had learned while he had been away for more than a year…[Black Hole].
It was one, if not the strongest, spell he had learned while studying magic. It would make him utilize a lot of his Mana to form it, and he wouldn't be able to maintain it for a very long time. However, he would try his best.
He formed the [Black Hole], which appeared right beside Sylas as he struggled to move away from where he was currently standing. In fact, he simply couldn't, as the pulling force from the [Black Hole] was much stronger than his own, making him get closer and closer to the [Black Hole].
Sylas had no idea what would happen if he were to get in contact with the [Black Hole], which is why he tried his hardest to move away from it.
However, he wasn't the only one affected by it, as Melinda and Thorin were both being pulled toward it.
Thorin was having an easier time resisting the strong energy that was pulling them inside. However, Melinda was a lost cause, especially considering her physical abilities.
Aiden saw her struggling and knew that she would get stuck inside the [Black Hole] if he did nothing. However, he looked at her for a short moment before looking away. He didn't have a lot of time in this form. He needed to get a move on things very fast.
He couldn't help her, and if she died…then so be it.
Aiden moved so fast that no one could see him. He appeared right in front of Sylas, where he aimed for his head.
He tried to slash it in one swift motion, and that's exactly what he did as his head fell on the ground, slowly rolling away.
He deactivated the [Black Hole] right away, which saved Melinda from being pulled inside.
Aiden had done it.
He had killed Sylas.
However, it had felt way too easy.
There had to be something more to it. There just had to be.
Aiden frowned as he looked at Sylas's head rolling on the ground, and that's when he noticed that there was something wrong with it.
It was slowly turning into particles as if it had been a monster in the first place.
Aiden turned his head sharply as he heard Melinda cry on his left…
"I-I'm sorry, Aiden. I was forced to do this…"
Aiden's eyes widened. "No, no, no. EMMA!"
