The Strongest Assassin Reincarnates in Another World

Chapter 441 - Seeing Lilia Again

Melinda's eyes opened wide as she heard the harsh sound coming out of Aiden's mouth. She tried to come up with an answer, but she was too stunned to speak. She just stood there, her mouth wide open.

Melinda didn't know what had happened during those five years of absence, but one thing was certain. Aiden wasn't scared anymore. The young, broken man that she had once known years ago had now transformed into this cold, over-confident man. However, one thing she noticed was that his body had barely changed.

She had no clue about his face since it was hidden behind his usual Reaper Mask. But it was like Aiden had never aged in the years that had passed by.

'You just keep surprising me every time I see you…to think you were a Nightshade right from the start.'

Melinda remembered the first discussion she had had with Aiden at the Inter-Family tournament. The young man standing there hadn't been exactly scared of her, but he had been careful of his words.

However, this facade was now completely gone and revealed one of anger and revenge. Everything Aiden had gone through in the last years had been because of them, the leaders of the four founding families. He deserved every right to take his revenge on each of them.

"Truly arrogant, huh? You sure changed from your pathetic old self who couldn't even awaken!" Sylas shouted for everyone to hear. "That's why we threw you away. You were useless. You were garbage."

"And that same garbage is the one who will be killing you in front of everyone here right now."

He giggled. "Is that so?"

"Yes. That's exactly what will happen."

Aiden felt the rage within himself getting harder and harder to control. However, he couldn't let the previous Aiden take over his body, not right now at such a critical moment. He needed to win over Sylas before doing so. By then, he would be able to give the real owner of this body a chance to avenge himself.

"Hm, well, good luck with that."

After saying those words, Sylas turned around and started walking back from where he came from.

Aiden didn't wait any longer and jumped upward right where they had left, and he saw the three of them walking away silently, not caring about him.

They had surely heard him. However, they weren't concerned with him. Still, Sylas had one last comment for Aiden.

"If I were you, I'd look after your precious girlfriend, Emma. Who knows…she might not get away with a scar this time?"

Then, after uttering those words, they took a left and disappeared from Aiden's sight.

He wondered about following them further into the Mansion. However, he had no idea what was over there. Even if he tried to spread his senses over there. He wouldn't be able to feel what was on the left. He took a glance behind him and noticed that his army had already begun fighting behind him.

It seemed Sylas's shadows had finally appeared. However, they weren't the only ones. There was the army of the Emberbane…and the army of Thorin all combined together. Still, once more, the elves were nowhere to be seen.

It was strange, and it made Aiden frown when he noticed their absence again… Aiden had no idea why or how the elves hadn't been under Sylas's control. But he couldn't help but raise questions in the back of his mind.

Looking back and seeing everyone fighting, Aiden spotted Emma and the rest of the high-ranking officials.

Emma still hadn't looked away from him as she was deeply worried about Aiden being split up from the rest of them. However, she wasn't the only one worried.

Aiden remembered the words that came out of Sylas's mouth. A threat against her, telling him to keep a close eye on her or else she might die.

'Does he want revenge because I killed his son?' Aiden thought.

However, he shook his head. Sylas had never cared about anyone but himself. There had to be something about this situation that Aiden couldn't see. There was something missing…he couldn't see the full picture.

'If Emma were to die…' Aiden didn't even want to think about what he would do. All he knew was that chaos would be the only thing he would leave behind.

"Aiden! Go after them, remember what your role is!" Emma shouted, telling him to go fulfill his role.

Aiden gritted his teeth, hesitating on whether to protect her or to do his duty of killing the leaders of the founding families…

After seconds that felt like minutes, he had made his choice. He turned around with a small nod, headed toward Emma, and started running right where Sylas and the others had left.

"Be careful, Emma! If you feel like you are in danger, run. Run as fast as you can, and don't look back." Aiden took a deep breath. "I can't lose you."

With those words, he turned around and started heading for the hall where they had headed. He didn't quite see them. However, a bunch of shadows appeared in front of him, trying to block his way.

However, Aiden had no time to lose, and he didn't need to be silent anymore.

He gracefully moved as sparks of lightning came off from his shoes and decapitated each of them with a single strike from his dagger.

Every single one of those shadows was found dead within a second. They couldn't deal with Aiden and his strength. The only ones who could barely handle him were the ones who had walked away from him.

Aiden knew they couldn't be too far as he continued to run.

And just as he was about to get further in, he was dragged by someone and pulled inside an empty room.

Not expecting the sudden strength coming from nowhere, he was pulled right in and fell on his ass. His eyes closed momentarily, and when he opened them again. He was faced with someone he would have never expected to see again.

It was Lilia, standing over Aiden with a smile on her face.

"You're finally here!" She exclaimed with a lot of excitement.

Aiden barely recalled her from the Inter-Family Tournament. However, she remembered Emma telling him that she was a spy for their organization. Still, why was she pulling Aiden into her room at such an important time?

"I'm sorry. But I need to catch up to them. I don't have time to talk with you right now."

Aiden stood up and headed for the door, where he was once more held against his will. This time, Aiden gritted his teeth.

"Look. I just told you that I can't be wasting time with you. If you don't release me, I will kill you."

Aiden had his priorities straight, and he didn't care about whatever the past between Lilia and him had been, but that was none of his problems.

"No, I need you to listen to me. It's important. It's about the war and what Sylas has prepared."

Aiden frowned right away, stopping his movements for a quick second. "Quick, tell me. I really have to go."

"Alright, alright. Calm down." She said, breathing fast. "You must have noticed that there aren't any elves around, right? Well, the reason for that is that they currently going after the entirety of the Everheart Family. They are going after Emma's family since they know she is the one in charge."

Aiden heard that and shrugged. Honestly, as much as he had liked Emma's mother. He wouldn't ruin the plan they had crafted for five years for her. There were many more important things than that. Also, he had thought the elves had done something much worse, so he was extremely relieved when he heard that it was only something like that.

"I see. Thanks for telling me. But I have to go now…"

Aiden managed to get rid of her hand and right as he was about to cross the door, Lilia started crying.

"You really changed, huh?" Tears started running down the corner of her eyes. "You don't even act like you know me…was her past really that unimportant to you?"

Aiden frowned. 'What kind of past is she even talking about?'

"I'm sorry. I don't know what you're talking about… I have some memory problems about my childhood."

Lilia took her courage with both hands and grabbed Aiden by both sides of his face, staring at him. "Maybe this will make you remember."

Then, she kissed him for a good minute, enjoying every second of it.

Aiden didn't feel much from it as he just kept a straight face through the entirety of it. He had already wasted too much time with her, and he needed to get a move on.

After she was done, Lilia was hoping for Aiden to say something. However, he didn't. He just turned around, and headed after the leaders of the founding families.

Still, he wasn't that cruel, as he turned around at the last moment and lied to her for Lilia's own good. "I remember you now."
