The Roulette of Destiny: Reincarnated in the Pokémon World

Chapter 31: Vermillion City Part - 2

The morning sun cast a golden glow over Vermilion City as Ethan stepped out of the Pokémon Center. Dratini was coiled comfortably around his neck, its sleek body shimmering in the light.

Sylveon trotted by his side, its ribbons swaying happily, while Cleffa sat perched in Ethan's arms, clapping its tiny hands as if cheering for the day ahead.

"Alright, team," Ethan said, smiling at his companions. "Let's check out the city before heading to the beach."

The Vermilion market was alive with activity. Merchants called out their wares, people bustled between stalls, and the delicious smell of freshly baked bread wafted through the air.

Ethan stopped by a fruit stall, examining the vibrant selection. "What do you think, Cleffa?" he asked, holding up an Oran Berry.

Cleffa squealed with excitement and grabbed the berry, stuffing it into its mouth before Ethan could stop it. The stall owner laughed as Ethan fumbled to pay. "Guess it's Cleffa-approved," the merchant said, grinning.

Sylveon, meanwhile, was busy charming passersby. Its ribbons delicately brushed against a young girl who giggled and handed Sylveon a treat. "You're a natural at this, aren't you?" Ethan said, shaking his head.

Dratini, on the other hand, was less cooperative. It slithered off Ethan's shoulders and darted toward a stall selling shiny trinkets, trying to coil around a glittering necklace. Ethan chased after it, apologizing profusely to the merchant as he pried the shiny object from Dratini's grasp.

"You're worse than a Magpie," Ethan muttered, earning a playful flick of the tail from Dratini.

After a lively morning at the market, Ethan made his way to the seaside. The beach stretched out before them, golden sand meeting the sparkling blue waves. The salty breeze carried the sound of seagulls and the rhythmic crash of waves.

"This is perfect," Ethan said, setting down his bag. He turned to his team and grinned. "Alright, let's get everyone out to enjoy this."

He released the rest of his Pokémon one by one. Scyther appeared first, its wings buzzing softly.

Spearow followed, letting out a loud cry before landing gracefully on the sand. Finally, Magikarp materialized with an awkward flop, its shiny scales catching the sunlight.

"All right, team, let's have some fun!" Ethan said.

As expected, the beach day didn't go as smoothly as Ethan had imagined.

Magikarp flopped toward the water, but a small wave sent it tumbling back onto the sand.

Sylveon, ever the caretaker, gently nudged it back into the surf with its ribbons, only for another wave to wash it ashore. Ethan doubled over laughing, while Magikarp flopped indignantly.

Dratini was having the time of its life, playfully chasing small fish in the shallows. At one point, it tried to coil around spearow's leg, causing the bird to squawk and flap its wings in irritation, spraying sand everywhere.

Cleffa, meanwhile, had discovered a sandcastle left behind by another beachgoer and was determined to "improve" it.

Unfortunately, its improvements involved climbing to the top and promptly collapsing the entire structure, leaving it buried in sand. Sylveon rescued it, shaking its head like a disapproving parent.

Scyther, in its usual fashion, had found a quiet corner to train. It was practicing its slashes against a piece of driftwood, but the crashing waves kept soaking the wood and dulling the impact. Frustrated, Scyther took to slashing at the waves themselves, looking absurdly out of place.

"Scyther, you're going to scare the ocean!" Ethan called out, earning a deadpan look from the bug Pokémon.

When everyone was sufficiently worn out (or, in Magikarp's case, thoroughly washed up), Ethan called his team together for lunch. He laid out a blanket under a large umbrella and began distributing treats.

Cleffa immediately pounced on the food, grabbing more than its fair share. "Slow down, Cleffa! You're going to choke," Ethan said, prying a handful of berries from its grasp.

Sylveon elegantly nibbled on its portion, its ribbons wrapped neatly around its body. Dratini slithered up to Ethan, nudging him until he handed over its favorite treats.

Spearow perched on a nearby rock, eyeing the food warily. Ethan tossed it a piece of jerky, which it caught midair with a snap of its beak. "Nice catch, Spearow!"

Scyther took its share of food and returned to its post, still ever-watchful, while Magikarp flopped in the shallow water, occasionally splashing Ethan when it got too excited.

At one point, Cleffa tried to swipe some of Sylveon's food, only for the Fairy-type to wrap a ribbon around Cleffa and hold it at arm's length. "That's what you get," Ethan said, chuckling as Cleffa pouted.

As the afternoon wore on, the sun dipped lower in the sky, casting the beach in shades of orange and pink. Ethan leaned back against his bag, Cleffa snoozing on his lap while Sylveon curled up beside him.

Dratini, now tired, coiled up around Ethan's shoulders like a living scarf. Spearow perched on the umbrella, its feathers glowing in the sunset's light.

Scyther finally decided to take a break, standing at ease beside Ethan, while Magikarp floated peacefully in the calm surf.

Ethan sighed contentedly, watching the waves roll in. "This is the life," he murmured, stroking Dratini's smooth scales.

Just as he was beginning to doze off, Cleffa woke up and decided it was time for more mischief.

It clambered onto Sylveon's back, chirping loudly, only for Sylveon to retaliate with a playful smack of its ribbon, sending Cleffa tumbling into the sand.

Dratini joined in, flicking sand at both of them with its tail, while Magikarp somehow managed to splash water all the way onto the blanket.

Even Spearow and Scyther got dragged into the chaos, with Cleffa climbing onto Fearow's back and Scyther glaring at the sand piling up on its blades.

Ethan laughed until his sides hurt, watching his team bond in their own chaotic way.

As the stars began to twinkle in the darkening sky, Ethan packed up their picnic and called his team back. One by one, he returned them to their Pokéballs, thanking each of them for the fun day.

Sylveon, Cleffa, and Dratini stayed out, sticking close to Ethan as they made their way back to the Pokémon Center.

"I think we all needed that," Ethan said, smiling at his companions. "Tomorrow, we'll get back to training. But for now… let's enjoy the rest of the night."

With his team by his side and the sound of waves still echoing in his ears, Ethan felt ready for whatever challenges lay ahead.
