Chapter 31: chapter 31
Here's a continuation:
Eliana's POV:
I glanced at the clock on my phone. 6:45 PM. Alexander would be arriving in 15 minutes to take me out to dinner. I felt a flutter of excitement in my chest as I finished getting ready.
I took a final look in the mirror, smoothing out my dress and checking my makeup. Satisfied, I headed downstairs to wait for Alexander.
I smiled as I grabbed my purse and headed for the door. "I'll be right down," I said, trying to sound casual despite the excitement building up inside me.
I hung up the phone and took a deep breath, feeling a sense of anticipation. What would the night bring?
As we pulled up to the restaurant, I couldn't help but feel a sense of awe. The building was sleek and modern, with a red carpet leading up to the entrance. Paparazzi were scattered about, snapping photos of the celebrities who were arriving.
Alexander smiled at me as he got out of the car and came around to open my door. "Welcome to Chez Pierre," he said, offering me his arm.
I took his arm, feeling a sense of excitement and glamour as we walked into the restaurant. The interior was just as impressive as the exterior, with crystal chandeliers and elegant table settings.
We were greeted by the maître d', who showed us to our table by the window. As we sat down, I couldn't help but notice the other diners. There were actors, musicians, and even a few politicians.
I leaned over to Alexander and whispered, "This is quite the place."
Alexander smiled and nodded. "I'm glad you like it," he said. "I wanted to take you somewhere special."
Midway through dinner, Alexander asked Eliana about the contract. Eliana revealed that she was already committed to someone else. Alexander felt an unexpected pang in his heart, but he quickly masked his hurt.
"It seems I was too late," he said with a smile. "So, who's the lucky guy?"
I hesitated for a moment, unsure of how much to reveal. But Alexander's curious expression put me at ease.
"His name is Xavier McKinney," I said, trying to sound casual.
Alexander's eyes narrowed slightly, and he nodded. "I've heard of him. He's an actor, right?"
I nodded, feeling a sense of unease. Why was Alexander asking so many questions?
Alexander smiled, but it seemed forced. "Well, congratulations are in order, I suppose. You two must be happy together."
I felt a pang of guilt, realizing that Alexander was trying to hide his true feelings. But I didn't know what to say, so I just nodded and smiled, trying to change the subject.
Xavier's pov
Xavier McKinney's eyes narrowed as he watched Eliana walk into the restaurant with Alexander. He couldn't believe his eyes - what was she doing with him?
Elvis Presley, who was sitting across from Xavier, followed his gaze. "Looks like your girl's got a thing for billionaires," he said with a smirk.
Xavier's colleagues turned to look, and soon the whole table was buzzing with speculation.
Xavier's face remained calm, but inside, he was seething. He had thought he had an understanding with Eliana - they were contracted to be together, after all.
He pushed his chair back and stood up. "Excuse me," he said to his colleagues. "I need to take care of something."
Elvis grasped Xavier's arm, his voice low and urgent. "Hold up, Xavier. Don't create a scene here. We don't know what's going on, and we don't want to draw attention to ourselves."
Xavier's eyes flashed with anger, but Elvis's words seemed to calm him down. He nodded, and Elvis continued.
"Let's go to her house and wait for her. We can confront her then, in private. We don't want to make a fool of ourselves in front of all these people."
Xavier nodded again, and the two of them slipped out of the restaurant, unnoticed by Eliana and Alexander.
Xavier stood at the gate of Eliana's house, his arms crossed and a scowl on his face. He wasn't going to go in, not yet. He wanted Eliana to come to him, to explain herself.
What was she thinking, going out with Alexander like that? Did she think he was just going to sit back and let her play with his feelings?
Xavier's eyes narrowed as he thought about it. He may not be a billionaire like Alexander, but he was a millionaire in his own right. He could give Eliana whatever she wanted, take her wherever she desired.
But it wasn't just about the money, was it? It was about the fact that Eliana had made a commitment to him, and now she was going behind his back and flirting with another man.
Xavier's jaw clenched as he waited for Eliana to arrive. He was going to get some answers, and he was going to make sure she knew that he wouldn't be played.
As Eliana stepped out of the car, she felt a flutter in her chest. Alexander's peck on the cheek had been a gentle gesture, but it had sent a spark of electricity through her body.
She turned to wave at Alexander as he drove away, but her smile faltered as she saw Xavier standing at the gate, his eyes fixed intently on her.
Eliana's cheeks grew hot as she felt a sense of unease. What was Xavier doing here? And why was he looking at her like that?
She hesitated for a moment, unsure of what to do. But then she took a deep breath and walked towards Xavier, trying to compose herself.
"Xavier, what are you doing here?" she asked, trying to sound casual despite the butterflies in her stomach.
Xavier's eyes narrowed, his jaw clenched. "I think we need to talk, Eliana," he said, his voice low and even.
Eliana quickly ushered Xavier into her bedroom, shutting the door behind them. She leaned against the door, her eyes locked on Xavier's.
"What's going on, Xavier?" she asked again, her voice barely above a whisper.
Xavier's eyes flashed with emotion, but he didn't say a word. Instead, he walked over to the window and stared out into the night.
Eliana's eyes followed him, her mind racing with possibilities. What was Xavier thinking?
Just then, Eliana heard the sound of laughter and music drifting from the living room.
