Chapter 27: chapter 27
Royalty's POV:
I couldn't believe what had just happened. One minute I was chatting with Elvis, and the next, we were almost kissing.
I felt a flush rise to my cheeks as I drove home. I couldn't shake the feeling of shyness that had washed over me when Elvis leaned in to kiss me.
What was wrong with me? I was a confident person, but around Elvis, I felt like a shy schoolgirl.
I thought back to our conversation at the mall. We had talked about everything from our jobs to our favorite TV shows. It was like we had known each other for years.
But it was more than that. There was a connection between us, a spark that I couldn't ignore.
I sighed, feeling a sense of frustration. Why had I pulled away when Elvis tried to kiss me? I had wanted to kiss him, but something had held me back.
As I pulled into my driveway, I couldn't help but wonder what would happen next. Would Elvis try to kiss me again? And would I let him?
Eliana's POV:
I sat across from Xavier at the coffee café, feeling a mix of emotions. I had been avoiding him for months, but now that I needed his help, I had to swallow my pride and ask.
Xavier smiled at me, his eyes crinkling at the corners. "So, Eliana, what's this about?" he asked, his voice low and smooth.
I took a deep breath, trying to gather my thoughts. "I need a favor, Xavier," I said. "A big one."
Xavier's eyebrows rose, but he said nothing, waiting for me to continue.
I hesitated, unsure of how to ask. But I knew I had to be honest with him. "I need you to pretend to be my fiancé," I said, the words tumbling out of my mouth.
Xavier's expression changed from curiosity to surprise. "Your fiancé?" he repeated. "Why do you need me to pretend to be your fiancé?"
Here's a possible continuation of Eliana's POV:
I took a deep breath, trying to explain everything to Xavier. "My parents died in a tragic accident six months ago," I said, my voice shaking slightly. "And in their will, they left me in charge of our family's company. But the board of directors doesn't think I'm ready to run the company on my own. They think I'm too young and unmarried to make important decisions."
Xavier's expression turned sympathetic, and he nodded encouragingly.
"They're giving me an ultimatum," I continued. "They want me to get married within the next six months, or they'll take control of the company away from me."
Xavier's eyes widened in surprise. "That's ridiculous," he said. "You're perfectly capable of running the company on your own."
I smiled wryly. "I know that, but the board of directors doesn't agree. And to make matters worse, my stepmother, uncle, and stepsister are all trying to get their hands on the company. They don't care about my father's legacy or what's best for the company. They just want to use it for their own gain."
Xavier's expression turned angry. "That's disgusting," he said. "You can't let them get away with that."
I shook my head. "I know, but it's not just about me. I have to protect my younger brother, Jason. He's only seven years old, they'll ruin everything my parents worked for. And if my stepmother, uncle, and stepsister get their hands on the company, they'll use it to further their own interests, not to benefit the company."
Xavier's expression softened, and he reached out to take my hand. "I'm so sorry,
Xavier's POV:
As Eliana finished explaining her situation, I couldn't help but feel a surge of sympathy for her. She was in a tough spot, and I wanted to help her.
But as I looked into her eyes, I realized that I wanted more than just to be her fake fiancé. I wanted to be the one she turned to for real, the one she trusted with her deepest secrets and desires.
"Eliana," I said, my voice low and husky. "I want to help you. But I have to be honest with you - I don't just want to be your fake fiancé. I want to be the real deal."
Eliana's eyes widened in surprise, and she looked away, her cheeks flushing. "Xavier, I...I don't know what to say," she stammered.
I reached out and took her hand, my fingers intertwining with hers. "Say you'll consider it," I said, my eyes locked on hers. "Say you'll give us a chance to see where this thing between us goes."
Eliana's eyes searched mine, and for a moment, I thought I saw a glimmer of hope. But then she looked away, her expression uncertain.
"I...I need time to think," she said finally. "Can we just focus on the fake engagement for now?"
I nodded, trying to hide my disappointment. But as I looked at Eliana, I knew that I wasn't going to give up. I was going to make her see that we were meant to be together, no matter what.
