Chapter 28: chapter 28
Xavier's POV:
I pretended to be angry, crossing my arms over my chest. "Fine, Eliana. If you don't want to consider a real relationship with me, then maybe I'm not interested in being your fake fiancé either."
Eliana's eyes widened in surprise, and she leaned forward, her hands grasping for mine. "Xavier, no, please don't say that. I need your help."
I raised an eyebrow, pretending to be unmoved. "What's in it for me?" I asked gruffly.
Eliana hesitated for a moment before speaking. "How about...how about you become my contract husband?" she suggested, her voice barely above a whisper.
I raised an eyebrow, intrigued. "A contract husband?" I repeated. "What does that mean, exactly?"
Eliana took a deep breath before explaining. "It means that we'll get married, but only on paper. We'll have a contract that outlines the terms of our marriage, and we'll have to follow it. But we'll be free to live our own lives, as long as we keep up the charade in public."
I couldn't help but be intrigued by the proposal. It was a crazy idea, but it just might work. And who knows, maybe it would even give us a chance to explore our feelings for each other.
I looked at Eliana, a smile spreading across my face. "You know what, Eliana? I think I'm interested in your proposal."
I looked at Eliana, a mischievous glint in my eye. "I'll accept your proposal," I said, "but on one condition."
Eliana's eyes narrowed, her brow furrowing in curiosity. "What's the condition?" she asked.
I leaned in close, my voice low and husky. "You have to be my girlfriend," I said, my eyes locked on hers.
Eliana's eyes widened in surprise, and for a moment, she looked like she had been punched in the gut. But then, a slow smile spread across her face.
"Deal," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.
I grinned, feeling a rush of excitement. I had a feeling that this was going to be a very interesting contract marriage
Eliana's POV:
I quickly pulled out my phone and dialed Royalty's number. She answered on the first ring.
"Hey, girl! What's up?" Royalty asked, her voice cheerful.
"I need you to get the contract ready," I said, my voice urgent. "Xavier has agreed to be my contract husband."
Royalty squealed in excitement. "Oh my god, that's amazing! I'll get our lawyer to draw up the contract right away."
I nodded, even though she couldn't see me. "Great, thanks Royalty. And make sure to include the clause about us being exclusive to each other during the contract period."
Royalty's voice turned serious. "Got it, Eliana. I'll make sure to include everything we discussed."
I hung up the phone and turned to Xavier, who was watching me with an amused expression.
"The contract will be ready soon," I said, smiling. "And then we can make this official."
Xavier's eyes sparkled with excitement. "I'm looking forward to it," he said, his voice low and husky.
Xavier's POV:
Eliana's eyes locked onto mine, her gaze piercing. "But Xavier, if I'm going to be your girlfriend, that means you won't cheat on me, okay?" she asked, her voice firm yet vulnerable.
I smiled, feeling a surge of emotion. No one had ever asked me that before. No one had ever cared.
"I promise, Eliana," I said, my voice sincere. "You're not just my contract wife; you're the woman I want by my side. I'll be faithful to you."
Eliana's face softened, a gentle smile spreading across her lips. "I believe you," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.
My heart skipped a beat. I had never felt this way about anyone before. This contract marriage just got a whole lot more personal.
Xavier's POV:
I smiled, feeling a sense of excitement. "And just so we're clear, Eliana," I said, "as my girlfriend, you'll be expected to perform certain... duties."
Eliana's eyes widened in surprise, and she looked at me like I was crazy. "What kind of duties?" she asked, her voice hesitant.
I chuckled, enjoying the way she looked at me. "You know, the usual girlfriend stuff," I said. "Holding hands, cuddling, kissing... that kind of thing."
Eliana's face turned bright red, and she looked like she was about to pass out. "Xavier, I... I don't know if I'm comfortable with that," she stammered.
I raised an eyebrow, feeling a sense of amusement. "Come on, Eliana," I said. "It's just part of the package. You want me to pretend to be your husband, and I want you to pretend to be my girlfriend. It's only fair."
Eliana looked at me for a long moment, and then she nodded. "Okay, fine," she said. "I'll do it."
I grinned, feeling a sense of triumph. "That's the spirit," I said. "Now, let's go get that contract and make this official."
