The Cold and Ruthless Supporting Male Lead

Chapter 3 - The Spare Tire of the CEO’s Woman (3)

Jiang Wanyan sobbed uncontrollably for a long time before finally calming down a little.

She touched her belly, knowing she had to leave before Ouyang Ming returned. Their marriage had been nothing more than a contractual agreement, and the divorce papers were already signed. If Ouyang Ming discovered her pregnancy now…

Biting her lip, Jiang Wanyan didn’t dare imagine what might happen.

Pulling up her already-packed suitcase, she grabbed an umbrella and dragged her luggage out of the villa.

This area wasn’t easy to hail a cab in, but she had saved a few drivers’ numbers in her phone. She called one and offered to pay double the fare.

“Driver, please take me to XXX residential area,” she said.

“Miss, did you have a fight with your boyfriend?” The driver glanced at her through the rearview mirror, noting her red eyes and nose. She looked pitiful, prompting the driver to offer some comforting words.

Jiang Wanyan felt slightly better.

Even if Brother Zixiang had rejected her over the phone, with rain pouring down like this, surely he wouldn’t have the heart to leave her outside once she arrived at his apartment complex.

Brother Zixiang… I’m doing this for the baby. I hope you can understand.

Clinging to this hope, Jiang Wanyan soon arrived at the complex. The security guard on duty was just about to switch shifts. She quickly pulled her luggage and ran over.

She was wearing a white dress, the hem already soaked by the rain, making her look even more pitiful and stirring sympathy. “Uncle, could you do me a favor?”

Faced with such a beautiful, delicate-looking young woman, the guard couldn’t help but feel moved.

Meanwhile, Hai Ku was just about to lie down when his phone rang. He had already blocked Jiang Wanyan, and aside from work, he couldn’t think of anyone else who might be calling.

Seeing that the caller ID showed a landline number, Hai Ku felt puzzled.

“Hello? Who’s this?”

The voice on the other end sounded middle-aged. “Hey, young man, come down and pick up your girlfriend. She says she forgot her keys and her phone’s out of battery.”

Hai Ku almost hung up, thinking it was a scam call.

Then Jiang Wanyan’s voice came through the line.

“Uncle, let me talk.”

“Alright, but I’m off duty soon. After you finish, just hang up. Someone will take over.”

“Okay, thank you, Uncle,” Jiang Wanyan said sweetly.

Hai Ku felt disgusted.

“Brother Zixiang…” Jiang Wanyan’s tone changed the moment the guard left. “Brother Zixiang, I’m downstairs at your complex. Can you come get me? I just need to stay at your place for one night. I really have no other option. Ouyang Ming is coming back tomorrow.”

Hai Ku: “…”

Hearing no response, Jiang Wanyan grew anxious. Biting her lip, she gripped her phone tightly. “If you won’t take me in, then I’ll sleep at the entrance of your complex…”

Her heart pounded in her chest. She knew her words sounded shameless, but Lin Zixiang’s decisiveness today made her feel like he had grown to hate her.

“Brother Zixiang… didn’t you promise that you’d always be there for me? That you’d always be my brother?” Playing the family card, Jiang Wanyan tried again. “It’s raining outside, and I’m so cold, Brother Zixiang…”

The rain outside poured harder, pattering against the windows. Pressing the phone tightly to her ear, Jiang Wanyan strained to hear any response from Lin Zixiang.

“Well then,” Hai Ku smirked, dragging out his words. “The entrance of the complex welcomes you. Just make sure you don’t block the path, okay?”

“Brother Zixiang!” Jiang Wanyan’s tears flowed instantly. “Are you really going to be so heartless?”

“Why does that sound so funny?” Hai Ku settled back into bed, pulling the blanket over himself and adjusting to a more comfortable position. “What relationship do we have? What obligation do I have to take you in? A single man and woman alone together—doesn’t that sound inappropriate? Imagine if people misunderstood; how awkward would that be?”

Jiang Wanyan’s face turned pale, her legs trembling so much that she could barely stand. “But… but you used to say…”

“Have you ever heard this saying, young lady?”

“W-what?”

“A man’s mouth is a liar’s tool.” Sighing, Hai Ku couldn’t understand why Jiang Wanyan was so persistent. He had already decided not to follow the original supporting male lead’s path. “The things I said in the past were because I still had feelings for you. But now, you’re with another man. What does that make me? Wanyan, for your sake and mine, don’t contact me again.”

“Brother Zixiang, I just want to stay for one night…” Jiang Wanyan didn’t seem to register Hai Ku’s words at all. She couldn’t even understand why she was so insistent.

Perhaps it was because she still believed Lin Zixiang had feelings for her…

A mischievous idea suddenly sparked in Hai Ku. In the original plot, Jiang Wanyan was always gentle and demure, and Lin Zixiang would cater to her every whim. Even after being rejected, he had quietly held on to his love for her.

But what if he didn’t let go?

Feeling entertained by the thought, Hai Ku deepened his voice, speaking with more gravity. “Wanyan, don’t you know my feelings for you?”

“But… but we’re siblings…” Jiang Wanyan’s eyes grew misty, and her nose tingled with emotion.

Hai Ku nearly laughed at the excuse she used—siblings. It was the ultimate line to keep a backup option in place. What nonsense.

“What kind of siblings have no blood relation? Wanyan, tell me—do you like me?”

“Brother Zixiang, I don’t want to hurt you…” Jiang Wanyan’s voice grew softer. Lin Zixiang was indeed good to her, but he was too ordinary. He was the kind of person who was exceptional, but within that group of exceptional people, he was still just average.

Being with him felt comfortable, and he always took care of her, but Jiang Wanyan never felt that spark of excitement.

Her nose tingled, and tears fell again. “Brother Zixiang, in my heart, you’ll always be my brother. I’m sorry.”

Jiang Wanyan cried so hard that she startled the person coming to take over the shift.
