SuperGene body mind soul

Chapter 27: I write off an on when bored

With the nightmare cat, soon locating the target super creature. Ren, of course, ran off in the middle of the night to challenge the creature.

Gazing at a wolf creature with sheep like fur, blending in with not the night but the moonlight, was a confusing sight.

The pale animal figure was unusually active, prancing around like it was dancing, though people with sharp eyes could see the wolf was also sniffing everything around it.

As if a different scent could be discerned from below a flower than above it.

Somebody like Ren who had already searched the environment, would know the wolf was actually making sure all of the weak and unfamiliar creatures in its domain were burrowed under grass and dirt.

While it's wolf companions were alert and culling everything that entered or moved in their territory.

Interesting creatures, but not something Ren would bother with. Having greater goals in the moment.

He predictably approached the beast as stealthily as possible. To get as close to the creature as possible and have the highest odds of landing a successful sneak attack.

The feat wasn't so simple, but Ren had more than enough experience and skill for the occasion.

Making everything look simple and easy, Ren lunged at his target.

Not having a decent weapon and deciding to not equip his new beast soul armor.

His fist collided with the wolf's face. Startling it and causing it to jump back and whimper.

Not giving the beast an opportunity, he followed. Overwhelming the beast with his fists, that wasn't causing fatal damage.

The beast had enough, its pitiful whimpers turning into angry growls and barks.

A lasting punch knocking a fang out of its jaws, shutting the wolf up.

It disregarded what was happening and, similarly lunged at its aggressor.

Not yet having a chance to observe its mysterious assailant

Ren took advantage to not let the situation change. Grabbing the finger sized tooth from the ground, and stabbing it into the wolf's side.

He continued his barrage of attacks into the beast face, planning to pumble it to death.

It's sheep-like fur protecting its entire body except for its face.

If he had a blade of any sort the fur would be useless, but was very effective against brute impacts like his fists.

Sending a knee strike to its lower mouth, the beast wobbled. No doubt councused, giving the perfect opportunity to end the fight with a swift palm strike to its forehead, directly damaging its brain.

The wolf never had a chance to truly counter attack.

The mighty super creatures were slowly but surely becoming no match to Ren as he filled up his geno points and practiced his supreme techniques.

Escaping before the rest of the wolf's pack could reach him and cause trouble. He had the nightmare cat, retrieve the life geno essence.

"Super creature Wolly-Wolf killed. No beast soul gained. Flesh inedible. Consume it's life-essence to gain 0 to 10 super geno points randomly."

Reaching a total of 20 super geno points. He knew the rest of the hunting on the first sanctuary was no longer gonna be a challenge or issue.

Reaching camp to turn in for the night. They both only had a few months left before they needed to head back to the alliance.

Ren for school and Huangfu Jing for her master, to continue her training and represent the martial hall.

Spending the time continuing their travels in the most dangerous environment of the sanctuary.

Ren hunting super creatures and Huangfu Jing Sacred blood creatures. All while training acting like the sanctuary was their backyard.

Their journey was coming to an end. Ren manipulating their course of travel, with the nightmare cat as a scout.

They gazed at a terraformed hill, devoid of life but promising danger. Reminiscent of an anthill, it was a nest. Home to the sanctuary's creatures, heralding the coming of a new super creature.

This time it was Huangfu Jing acting reckless, hungry for a challenge in these lands that get duller by the day as their strength and skill increases.

Ren was dragged to its dungeon-like entrance. Not believing the nest to be a challenge for him.

Soon met by the screeching of a hundred primitive and mutant beasts.

Huangfu Jing took the lead jumping into the horde, even though the passageway was narrow. Her movements were exquisite, not allowing a scratch to marre her skin.

Her strength reaching the level of a sacred blood creature. Each motion connecting with a beast causing fatal damage.

Ren didn't even need to lend a hand as the horde slowly dwindled.

Though he did aid in the fight. Full well knowing Huangfu Jing would be displeased if he didn't do anything.

In addition to the nightmare cat, causing a massacre of its own.

Filling the nest with corpses, the final bosses were coming out to play. Protecting a crystal pulsating with life, three sacred blood creatures growling in warning.

Glancing at Huangfu Jing, who had never faced more than one of such beasts. But was similarly the only one to face this level of beast throughout the whole journey.

Ren could tell she wanted to test her limits, gesturing for him to back up.

She summoned a sword, approaching the beast with fighting intent.

One lunged seeing its warnings being ignored.

Easily parring a claw and counterattacking to inflict a devastating blow. A second creature enter the fight, dodging and repositioning.

Attempting to make the two creatures mess each other up, the third lunged into action. Predictably outmaneuvered, Huangfu Jing smiled, feeling the challenge was just right.

Ren spectated, confident in her abilities but kept his guard up all the same ready to intervene.

While Huangfu Jing was lacking the ability to land a strike, her opponents were discovering the same issue.

Their intelligence strongly lacking, she was forced to await the moment the beast relize the same. Taking advantage of the first sign of the beasts starting to take risks to end the fight.

Everything began to change, as all the creatures attacked at the same time.

Not interrupted, a single strike of the sword tilting the battle into an irreversible situation. With a limb missing from one creature, flaws were appearing.

Flaws that Huangfu Jing would be a fool not to take advantage of. Systematically injuring the beasts till their heads came off, or enough blood drained.

She was drenched in blood, wearing an eerie smile of victory.

"Well, reap your rewards." Ren gestured toward the prize of the nest.

Not evening stopping to catch her breath, she approached the egg.

Feeling its heart beat and warmth, she sighed and moved to drain the life from the impending birth of a monster.

Puncturing the pulsating fleshy egg, Huangfu Jings heavy breathing's halted abruptly.

Making Ren worry about what happened, he approached.

Grabbing her by the shoulder, she caught her breath, but stayed silent.

"What's wrong?" He asked, wiping some of the blood from her face.

"The beast soul." She murmured softly, lost in thought.

"What about the beast soul?" He asked back.

"It's… I don't know." She responded. Causing him to sigh and not push further. "Well, come, let's get out of here and get you cleaned up."

They began their journey out of the nest.

Ren wasn't stupid and understood the situation. As much as he speculated she received a super beast soul.

He knew it was equally possible for her reaction to be something else. Possibly she acquired a beast soul that was eerily similar to something she was familiar with.
