Chapter 26: new stock
In great attempts of ingenuity, substances such as 'geno fluids' could prep a body's energy, while the meditations and practices were derived by gene locks and diluted for weaker people or creatures to learn and utilize, tapping into their own energy without needing to be strong enough to utilize it.
The yin-yang blast was interesting, seemingly allowing its user to freely manipulate this energy, but no. It simply allowed you to tune yourself into a certain part of the natural universe.
The yin or yang.
Sending yet another attack, the beast kept shivering with more intensity at each strike it took.
Ren was curious at the behavior of the beast, as much as he was pissed at the lack of a fight.
Upon receiving the eighth yin based strike, the beast halted its movement.
"Super creature Deep Shine Ape killed. Beast soul gained. Flesh inedible. Consume life-essence to gain 0 to 10 super geno points randomly."
Sighing in appreciation of the outcome, he halted like the dead ape. Not knowing how to obtain the life-essence of the beast.
He motioned for his super cat beast soul pet to try and pierce the metallic coating, now a cage trapping his spoils of battle.
All in vain, the cat was at least able to make some white marks appear.
Deciding to take his time to figure out the situation. He checked his soul sea, finding the apes' beast soul.
[Super creature Deep Shine Ape: beast soul type: armor]
Sighing again, knowing the beast soul would not help him in this situation. He couldn't be angry at the amazing beast soul he acquired.
Trying it on, donned in a gray metallic, almost liquid appearing armor draped around his entire being.
The armor was fluid and rounded like he was held in a water droplet.
Most of the armors from the sanctuary were like this, with some being more abstract or simplified.
Tinkering with the ape corpse some more, with no progress he hauled the beast from within the cave out and into a much closer location to the camp.
Of course with the help of the nightmare-cat, the haul was not hard but also not quick. Trying to find a place where he could place the ape, so no other beast could disturb it, he allowed the cat to stay guard. While he made his way back to camp, knowing he took way too long and Huangfu Jing was probably awake awaiting his return.
And lo behold, a figure could be seen pacing around the camp not looking to pleased.
Now wishing to confront her, but knowing he had to, he pushed aside his internal conflict, taking a step forward.
Upon sensing Ren's presence, Huangfu Jing glared. "You!"
Ren sighed for the umpteenth time. "Hah, Don't freak out. There was a disturbance not too long ago. I didn't want to disturb you, it wasn't a big deal." Ren tried to diffuse the situation, to his luck she frowned, changing her anger to displeasure.
"You can wake me up. I can help, I'm strong too, you know." Huangfu Jing pouted.
"If there's a real situation, you wouldn't be left out. This was only a small disturbance like I said." Ren finally dissolved the situation. Though Huangfu Jing
was adamant about every little thing that happened, wasting lots of time, annoying and exhausting him to no end.
Of course it was more exhausting due to the fake information he was spewing to not make her worry about the existence of super creatures. Not yet at least, it was a decision Ren was taking his sweet time to make.
Knowing Huangfu Jing, with her strength would not defeat a super creature, though with her exquisite movement technique had a chance of escape. He was sure she'd have to sacrifice nearly all of her beast souls in the endeavor.
But she held great promise in improving her skills at the moment. Giving Ren certain confidence that given time she could face a super creature with her own strength.
Another thing to think about was the knowledge of super creatures. He was sure the larger factions in the alliance either knew or suspected a higher grade of beast within the sanctuary.
Something he didn't know if they had confirmed this suspicion with the possibility that the creatures could increase their strength without promoting their rank. Similarity if they knew or speculated that the creatures of the sanctuary's could likewise evolve into the next layer of the sanctuary's like themselves.
Ren planned to stay within the area, helping Huangfu Jing and himself increase in strength and skill. Mainly to figure out a way to pierce through the apes' skin.
In the meantime, he sent out the nightmare-cat to not only guard the area, but to also try to make some progress, believing the cat could accomplish the feat with enough time. Those pale white marks were sure to eventually make a larger impact.
Tensing his arm he makes a quick motion, halting his hand right before Huangfu Jing's cheek. Producing a gust of air and shuts her mouth, in confusion.
"Enough, let's begin training." Ren sent a stare at Huangfu Jing, who didn't seem fazed.
Just pouting with a sly smirk sending a sneak attack of her own, prompting the beginning of their spar.
One of the biggest flaws with sparring with a single person was the repetition, knowing your opponent's habits, though at the expense of figuring out your own.
Your own habits would only be changed in two situations, the first was to realize your habits and attempt to change them, something easier said than done. The second was to face an opponent who was stronger and more experienced, a master figure. This person would realize your habits and force you to break them easily, finding the flaws in the habits.
Ren was by no means this level of figure, especially when Huangfu Jing
Was used to a much stronger and experienced master. Not to mention the amazingly profound technique she utilized.
While Ren wished to circumvent this issue for her, he also wanted to circumvent the issue for himself as well.
Creating a new way to spar or practice, was also easier said than done. But Ren figured an easy fix to the issue, through communication.
While they were sparing, they would talk, not about life but about their thoughts in the moment.
What their next move would or should be, and what they see in the others movements. Definitely a tall task for them to articulate these things in the moment, let alone listening to the other while also fighting and translating everything they were seeing and hearing.
A deeply flawed idea that Ren came up with, and Huangfu Jing mocked. Though he knew it was possible, forcing them to give it a try, everything was sloppy, though they kept going, mainly because Ren wanted to understand the issues with this high intensity training method. In hope to create or learn some hyper geno arts to fix the issues.
Time passed with some progress, a semi strict daily routine of training and lazing around not letting their thoughts drift from training.
In the beginning Ren would sneak off and attempt to break the apes' skin every night, but now he had given up, allowing the nightmare-cat to take its time with little progress. But progress non the less that would soon bear fruit.
After a week, a hole was formed and now after a month that hole has expanded enough to remove the life geno essence.
Glancing at the dead ape, literally a shell of its former self… it's inside's pulverized to dust, while it's strong shell stood strong and impenetrable.
Except for a single hole Ren took advantage of, to narrow for his arm, he was forced to degrade the apes body further.
Allowing gravity to do its work, he lifted the ape upside down in regards to the hole, allowing the life essence to naturally make its way out of the corpse.
Making him smile in the gloomy conditions upon seeing the shiny crystal like life essence.
Immediately retrieving and absorbing the essence while making his way back to camp.
Planing on finally moving on to the next location.
Reaching an annoying number of 14 super genes. Not quite understanding why he only gained 3 points, he didn't waste his time on it.
Informing Huangfu Jing on his whim to relocate. They again saddled up together, on her sacred-blood mount, taking a few days to reach the third location.
Ren rinsed and repeated his actions, allowing the nightmare-cat to scope out the area, attempting to locate the super creature he had previously scouted.
Taking the day to relax, and set up camp. Training commenced on the following day, as per usual.
Making progress in his little unique sparing idea, though barriers seemed to keep appearing.
Barriers that would take some time to research and solve, though it didn't ruin the training method by any means.
Merely suppressing Ren's grand idea of the concept the training method could provide.
