Chapter 737: Chapter 716 ( Verbergen attack - VII )
"The fog is disappearing?" - Cattleya asked while frowning - "Are those bastards giving up?"
"I think it's more possible that they deactivated this barrier because it wasn't being useful against us" - replied Freid while shaking his head, though his expression changed when he felt a familiar aura in the area - "I think things got complicated..."
"¿?" - Cattleya looked at the hybrid demon, when her expression changed to a serious one as she felt how a fragment of her soul was starting to burn, showing that her contract was strengthening, which meant one thing - ". . ."
"I see you can feel it, I guess your power surge is much more impressive than I thought" - Freid said neutrally as he looked at the demon queen - "The irregular who has been ruining our plans, he's here with his team"
"You're right, things are getting complicated" - said Cattleya with a neutral look - "I guess we'll have to be more careful after eliminating the scum that are among our troops."
"I think the same thing" - Freid answered seriously, only to set himself to think for a few seconds - "If you want, I can serve as a general to prevent the intervention of the irregular."
"Sounds like a good idea, though first I'd like to know how sure you are that you can stop it, and for how long" - Cattleya said while looking at the hybrid demon,
"Honestly, I'm not sure" - Freid replied with a frown as he closed his eyes and tried to contact his god, but such seemed like that was impossible because no matter how hard he tried, Ehit seemed to be ignoring him, or was doing something else that was possibly more important than his current situation - "Although we don't lose anything by him doing so"
"You have a point" - Cattleya nodded as she bit her lip - "Ok, you can take control of the third company, I want you to take this letter and give it to the general so he knows the overall situation"
"Aren't you afraid that my actions will infuriate that general?" - Freid asked as he raised an eyebrow.
"No, for two reasons" - answered Cattleya while shaking her head - "One, the general of the third company, was my direct subordinate, that's why he rose by my orders and he knows it, so he won't have a problem with giving you his power for a few days, unless he is stupid, of course."
"And the second reason?" - Freid asked as he nodded.
"Because if he doesn't do my bidding, his head will roll" - Cattleya replied with an icy tone.
"Makes sense" - nodded Freid before disappearing from the place.
Cattleya was silent for a few seconds before she began to curse, after all, this operation was important in order to cement her position as demon queen. She knew that the first company's opposition to her rule, would be neither the first, nor the last, that's why she needed to do something in order to prove her worth as a leader - "I have to talk to him or things won't end well for me..."
The demon queen bit her lip before pulling out the orb and trying to contact her "master".
"I didn't expect you to call me in this situation..."
"I wouldn't have, if I hadn't sensed your presence" - Cattleya replied while gritting her teeth - "What are you doing here?"
"Verbergen is the birthplace of one of my girls, I couldn't just stand idly by while you attacked them..."
Cattleya began to curse, though she now more or less understood the situation - "Isn't there some way for the two of us to get our objectives completed?"
A deep silence pervaded the place before Cloud spoke again.
"What is it that you wish?"
"To destroy Verbergen" - Cattleya answered with a cold tone - "With the fall of the demi-human kingdom, my position as queen will stand firm and there will be no one who can oppose my orders."
"I see... Well, what I seek does not clash with your plans..."
"Really?" - Cattleya asked in surprise, after all, she thought Cloud was going to try to save Verbergen.
"What I seek, is not to save Verbergen, but its inhabitants, so we can come to a middle ground that does not intervene in our plans."
"I understand" - Cattleya smiled as she began to laugh - "I guess I over thought things, after all, you're not the type to do anything unless it's beneficial to you."
"You make it sound like I'm a horrible person, I just put things in a balance and wait for the situation to be good for me, in this case, the lives of the inhabitants is much more important than a stupid city"
"Maybe for you, but for them, it's their life, it's all they have" - Cattleya replied with disdain - "You don't mind sacrificing what's important to them, and that's what makes us able to negotiate so well, you only care about your interests and the welfare of your little group."
". . ."
"Honestly, I'm a bit jealous, I would have liked to be part of your group, but we both know that's impossible" - Cattleya said as she started laughing - "Right?"
"Indeed..."
"Ok, since we made this point clear, I guess it's time for us to continue with this farce, although I ask you not to kill so many of my little minions, I couldn't race you to control" - said Cattleya with clear sarcasm.
"I promise nothing."
"Ok, I will organize my troops better, I will contact you with all those who have to be eliminated" - said Cattleya with a frown.
"I understand, I will give you information with those who will be the sacrifices on my side."
Cattleya smiled slightly before cutting the transmission, and when she did she started to scream because it was obvious that things were not going to go her way.
After a few minutes, she managed to regain her composure, so she quickly went out to give a small speech so she could calm her subordinates down.

"Is it true what you said, Cloud?" - Yue asked as she raised an eyebrow.
"Yes, what matters to me, are the lives of the elves and the Haulia clan members, the others can come and save themselves or fight to death" - Cloud replied as he shook his head - "Does it bother you that I'm so cold?"
"No" - replied Yue while shaking his head - "After all, I already knew that things would end up like this, you're not one of the people who would put us in danger to save some strangers, you're also not as kind as many people think you are"
"I'm not a hero" - Cloud said as he shook his head - "Living for others, that's the worst stupidity one can commit"
"Because it creates dependence?" - Yue asked as she raised an eyebrow.
Cloud smiled when he heard this, though he didn't say any words.
Yue shook her head before watching as Kaori landed next to Myu, being followed by Shea, who landed face first - "Ugh..."
"Prophecy fulfilled" - Remia said as she shook her head as she landed next to Shizuku.
"Dude, don't attack!" - Cloud exclaimed as he watched the dragon girl stop accumulating mana in her snout before flying in his direction.
"Did something happen?" - Tio asked as he changed form and landed delicately - "Wait, did she hit the ground with her face?"
"There are times when reality, trumps imagination" - Shizuku replied as she shook her head.
"There are times when Shea's stupidity is breathtaking" - Yue said as her lips lifted slightly.
"Instead of making fun of me, they could help me..." - Shea replied as she swung her legs.
Cloud shook his head before grabbing the rabbit girl's leg to pull her out of the hole she had created with the impact.
"Thank you" - smiled Shea as she dusted off her clothes, then looked at Yue with annoyance - "Was that necessary?"
"Yes" - nodded Yue as she let out a small laugh - "Ok, I think we'd better get inside Verbergen so we can check what's going on."
"You're right, though I'd like to check on my mother first" - said Shea as she turned around and ran to the place where her family had set up camp.
"Shall we follow her?" - Kaori asked as she looked at Cloud.
"You go, I'll take care of the rest" - nodded Cloud as he watched the girls follow Shea, with the only exception of Tio, who had decided to stay behind - "Is something wrong?"
"Yeah, I'm still curious as to why the not letting me attack those demons" - replied Tio while raising an eyebrow.
"Oh, I understand" - nodded Cloud as he explained the general situation.
Tio was silent before frowning.
"You didn't like my decision?" - Cloud asked as he looked at every detail of the beautiful dragon girl's face.
"The truth is that I'm not very happy with the idea of selling this city, but at the same time I understand your point of view, not to mention that you already said you were going to defend the people" - Tio answered while shaking her head - "I can live with it."
