Chapter 704: Chapter 683 ( War - V )

"Everything is going as planned" - Cattleya thought with a huge, sadistic smile.

Much of her army had been wiped out by Cloud's troops, and what was better, was that those troops were the ones her companions had handed over to her, leaving the core of her personal army, completely intact.

"My lady, our troops have advanced without much trouble for a few meters, that's why we can deduce that the humans have no more of those deadly traps" - said her second in command while looking at her teacher.

"I want them to stop and move forward carefully, we can't dismiss the possibility that those dirty humans have created another kind of traps" - Cattleya replied while frowning.

"You are right, my lady" - replied the second in command while ducking his head.

"Enough of flattery, I want to know our losses" - Cattleya said with a frown.

"The losses are catastrophic, my lady" - replied the subordinate as he banged his head against the table - "We have lost 50% of our troops, of which the vast majority of the casualties are external troops."

Cattleya let out a mock sigh as she shook her head regretfully, though inside she was laughing with excitement - "Perfect, I love to hear my plans come out just as I thought."

"My lady?" - asked the soldier as he noted with surprise how his leader seemed to be cursing herself for the casualties of her soldiers - "You need not worry, all those deaths were for the good of our race."

"You're right" - sighed Cattleya with a regretful expression on her face - "Still no news of the other generals?"

"Hmph! I'm sure those bastards have to be thrilled to have the best part of the mission, while we'll be ridiculed for losing almost all of our soldiers" - growled Cattleya's second in command as he snorted in disdain.

"That's why we have to make our moves have as few allied deaths as possible" - Cattleya replied seriously - "As for the other generals, let's just wait for the good news."

"Ha!" - nodded the soldier before retreating.

"Heh ~" - a smile full of disdain appeared on Cattleya's face as she walked to the table and took a glass of wine - "All perfect ~"

"Results?" - Cloud asked as he shook his head.

"We can't count the number of enemy casualties, but we don't have any casualties so far" - replied the archer while shaking his head - "I still can't believe how easy this has all been, all thanks to the fact that our arrows also had those strange artifacts of theirs."

Cloud didn't answer, he just looked towards the horizon and saw how the demons had stopped, or rather, were slowly advancing - "Is there any sign of the other entrances?"

"Miss Rika just informed us that the other entrances are safe thanks to the explosive devices you created, as for the enemy casualties, our soldiers are eliminating all the demons that managed to escape, although we can't assure complete annihilation" - answered the archer while frowning slightly.

"I understand" - nodded Cloud while smiling slightly, after all, this mission was easier than he thought, although this was not due to the level of danger, but to the preparations he had, as well as for the amount of skills and knowledge he had gained - "Tell them to stay alert because we don't know if they will have allies, as for us, inform the soldiers that it's time for our last confrontation."

"Ok!" - Nodded the archer as he walked out of the blond's room.

Cloud quickly pulled out the communication sphere and waited a few seconds until he heard a small sound appear from the artifact.

[Do you need anything?]

"I just wanted to inform you that the demonic forces at the other gates are almost completely annihilated" - Cloud replied calmly.

[What about the generals?]

"Honestly, I have no idea, although I wouldn't be surprised if they had died or escaped" - Cloud replied while shrugging his shoulders - "If you want I can send some of my flying artifacts so I can find out what's going on."

[No, it's not necessary, if they died, it's good, and if not, it's not much of a problem for me either, after all, their forces were completely decimated by your traps ~]

"I hear you happy" - Cloud mused as he shook his head.

[Of course I am, with this, I'll be able to accomplish my goal, I knew I could trust you ~]

"It's good that we're allies, we both got what we wanted" - said Cloud calmly as he walked to the table and picked up a strange artifact - "By the way, I'd like to hear about a certain rumor."

[You mean the one about the human boy? Hmm, it's true, that human boy has been hanging around the outskirts of the camp and our high priest has ordered us not to harm him because he's the future apostle of one of our allies, honestly I have a very bad feeling about that boy, he feels different...]

"Different? How?" - Cloud asked with mild interest.

[Before, he was a jerk with a hero complex, but now he's the complete opposite, he feels cold and a dark aura very similar to a deep abyss]

Cloud frowned when he heard this, so he quickly asked her if he was carrying something peculiar, a weapon, armor, or something like that, maybe a pendant.

[Let's see, he had a black sword now that you mention it].

"I guess there's your answer, that thing has to have changed him" - Cloud replied while shaking his head.

[It's possible, though I have to tell you that if so, then there's a huge problem.]

"Which one?" - Cloud asked while raising an eyebrow.

[In this world, cursed items can change a person, though there are some factors to take into account, such as these items can't change a person that much unless the person surrenders to their powers]

"Are you saying that even if someone falls prey to a cursed object, these can maintain their consciousness and personality?" - Cloud asked in surprise.

[Yes, there's even a [Job] called the [Cursemancer] or the [Curse Meister]...].

Cloud quickly left the room and asked for all the information on these two strange [Jobs].

[Putting that aside, I think it's time for me to cut this call short, after all, I don't want the others to find out about us.]

"I understand, though there's something else I want to ask you" - Cloud said while shaking his head.

[If you want to ask about my next moves, well, I'm going to launch a last attack and when we are defeated I will order a strategic retreat, when that happens, I would like you to order some weak attacks to make it look like it was thanks to my efforts that my soldiers managed to survive]

"I understand, I'll play along" - Cloud replied calmly, after all, he had already gotten what he wanted.

[This is why I like doing business with you, although our first meeting wasn't the best, I now value you as a good ally, human-kun ~]

"Kun?" - Cloud repeated while raising an eyebrow.

[Yes, that human girl roaming our continent taught me some terminologies from your world, interesting, isn't it?]

"I think you'd better use your time for other things" - said Cloud while shaking his head, after all, those kind of words were not necessary in this conversation.

[Hmm, I guess you're right, anyway, we'll talk later, it was a pleasure working with you this time ~]

Cloud shook his head as he thought about his next moves - "When I make sure everything is over, I'll immediately go to the holy mountain so I can help the girls, after all, I'm still a bit worried about them with that apostle chasing after them..."

"Ugh... Damn traitors..." - Daimon muttered as he crawled off the battlefield.

After killing his colleagues, he watched as the humans killed all the remaining soldiers so with a masterful effort, he tried to escape as best he could.

"I swear by our god... I'm going to take revenge on you..." - Daimon growled as he felt his vision become blurry from all the blood he had lost, though despite all this he continued to advance towards the central base of the demonic army - "I have to go back... I have to inform them about the traitors..."

Daimon was beginning to gasp for breath, though his expression changed when he heard the sound of footsteps - "Shit!"

The demonic general quickly turned around, only to let out a sigh of relief when he saw a familiar appearance - "I'm safe..."

"General Daimon!" - Demon exclaimed as he looked at one of the most popular leaders of the demonic army.

"H-Help..." - Daimon muttered as he gritted his teeth - "I-I need a doctor..."

"Take him immediately to the infirmary!" - A soldier exclaimed as he signaled another comrade to inform Cattleya about the appearance of the dying general.

"Oh, this is interesting, although Daimon's return doesn't change things much" - mused Cattleya as she savored the wine inside the cup.
