Chapter 2: : When Sea Food Fights Back
I'm back, with a new release.
Plus make sure to check out my other books when your done with this one cause it would really help me to know what you guys think about my books.
Make sure you vote and comment as I would appreciate it.
Anyways let's begin. Note there are some minor changes from the prologue.
In her memories she could remember seeing a sunken ship before her world turned white. She could also faintly remember a weird voice speaking to her but she couldn't remember the wordings and now she was in the middle of an unknown ocean with a weird body, on top of that she couldn't see, so everything was pitch black
The weird body being her now ship like body. She could still move her head although it was very sluggish. She could still feel her hands and feet but when she tried standing up, no matter how hard she tried, she was stuck in place. She could only sigh as her fingers had this weird feeling within them.
It felt like something was within her finger and she could feel it. She tried moving her hand sideways to removing it but her hand responded in turning left right at a snail's pace totally not what she wanted. And another weird thing was that she felt like she had 3 normal hands with 2 smaller hands and bunch of micro hands which she didn't even know where they were.
The whole thing made her feel very nervous as her body made a series of groans and there was still something stuck in her fingers. She tried to swing her body around with all her strength, until she felt part of her body rise off of something wet giving her some hope before gravity brought it all down with a giant splash.
For starters it sounded like her body weighed thousands of tons as her mined linked her splash sound to be similar to a container ship launching. This all didn't make sense to her but she still tried by pushing her fingers forward. This did nothing for a while until she felt a might boom shake her whole body as sound wave and pressure waves travelled out of her fingers.
Maybe it was the vibration or the sound of the boom but her eyes finally opened to reveal a plain ocean around her.
And I do mean eyes for she didn't have 2 eyes but she had 7 eyes, 7!?
She could see forward in 3 different elevations and she could see backwards with 2 different elevations next she could see sideways giving her 360 field of view (FOV). It was as if she was one of those hydra but instead of them having multiple brains she only had one which meant that she had a major sensory overload for a few moments before she seemingly adapted to it.
And it didn't just stop there, each sight had a gun sight on them. These gun sight were like a ruler, they had straight lines that had marks which showed distance and at the centre was a circle that was divided into three curved lines that glowed green with one circle glowing yellow.
This strongly reminded her of World of Warships, which she used to play. With these sights she could she could squint at the distant waters and they would zoom in and out though most of the sights varied in how far they could zoom and the next thing she realised was that they had a limited field of view that was smaller than that of a humans. There was also the fact that these gun sights couldn't switch to night vision or even thermal, which meant that these were pre- modern gun sights most likely WW1 or WW2
Based on these gun sights and her experience she realized that they were for a ship and more specifically they were for a Japanese battleship. Why a battleship, because she could literally see a triple barrel gun at the front of her bow. The gun she was using seemed to be a secondary because its gun sight was smaller than others. It seemed to have enough gun depression so that she could see the top part of the first turret on her ship.
Looking at the first turret, she could see three barrels that were huge. She tried moving her thought to be hand and saw that the turret moved according to her response which shook her to her core making the entire ship tremble slightly.
She needed fresh air but in this weird ship body she didn't even know where her nose was or if she even had a nose in the first place. With this combined information and facts she realised that she wasn't human anymore which was hard to accept. Her body was crushed in the ocean and her soul or whatever it was became the soul of this battleship. She didn't know if she should consider this as being lucky or unlucky.
Recalling the few ship facts she got from playing Wows, she realised that she was a Japanese super battleship, the Yamato, which happened to be the last thing she saw before she died. Coincidence, I think not.
Basing the fact that she was the Yamato, the biggest ship in naval history, she realised that her main guns were 18 inches of pure death and destruction. Though not being the largest artillery piece in the world, that goes to the Gustuv super artillery of Germany which had a barrel of 800mm while Yamato's was 460mm, it would still pack a big punch and the big explosion she heard was one of the guns firing.
Their rotation was a hindering factor same as their reloading speed of about 60 seconds, however, their armour more than made up for it with the face of the turrets being able to deflect most cruiser round and I think 16 inch shells maybe.
Her secondary guns were 155mm which were used to light up ships that got too close with HE. Their rotation speed was good same as their reload speed which meant that these two secondary's can provide cover as the main guns reload.
Then there was her AA. To be frank she knew that they were unreliable against aircraft. She could remember people even writing essays about it in some forums and point out areas that needed improvement like switching the 25mm for 40mm and other changes. These AA had a dual purpose function in which they can aim at both air attackers and ships if they come to close. With their insane reload speed but questionable accuracy, they can shred opponents who dare to come close.
When she squinted with the AA sight, she realised that there were a bunch of other sights mixed in to form one big sight.
The whole network of visions still made things a little bit queasy for her but now she just had to figure out how to move forwards in this ship body which for something that weighed 65 thousand tonnes seemed to be a very hard task to do.
The boiler engine on the Yamato produced 450,000 horsepower if her memory served her right, which pushed the ship to a top speed of 27 knots. Moreover her engines couldn't be heard from the deck due to all that armour in the way. She tried moving her feet up and down but that didn't work. In the end she tried remembering how propellers worked which led to her remembering that the blades used to spin clockwise and the other anticlockwise to move foreward.
If she was feeling right she had 4 feet, two on the left two on the right, thus she decided to spin them the way she remembered. Left anti while right clockwise. She felt the blades spin for a while before they stopped, why?
Because, she was being a total idiot. She didn't need to strain herself by manually spinning her blades, she had a diesel engine that could the work for her! The purpose of an engine on a ship is to drive the ships screws which means spin the propellers by burning oil so that they can push the ship forward and the engines also power the ships electronics.
Knowing this she cranked up her engine, which can also be said to be her heart, making them to spin the screws as they increased their horse power. Soon, the feeling of water crashing against her hull could be felt all around her as her hull sliced through the waves creating a white wake in her path.
As she sailed, she discovered that she had a radar on her ship, which is true as the Japs did make their own radar however, it couldn't be used to fire on ships due to its unreliability and inaccurate measurements but it can still be used to spot on enemy.
She mainly looked around with her AA choosing to keep her main and secondary guns in a neutral position. Frankly, there was little to look around. The only thing she could see were clear blue waters and a sky filled with scattered clouds. As she continued in a random direction she could see no sign of life or anything just clear blue waters until she was surprised.
Something broke through the surface at a mad speed almost as if it were running for something. This put her on alert as she swung her two front main guns and one secondary to her left side where the commotion was happening. Looking closer at the creature she realised that it was a Tuna fish though for some reason it was as if it drank nuclear waste or a strange chemical as it was about the quarter of her size which was impossible!
More of those giant Tuna broke through the surface in a mad pace until she could see a dark spot under the ocean before all hell broke loose.
A giant water column emerged from the ocean as a beast thought to be lost in the dinosaur age came back to life. She was looking at a super-giant shark holding an equally giant whale in its mouth before the two of the came down in a massive splash that kicked up a big wave. The wave titled her to her side by a small amount before she rolled back to being neutral.
The whale was now dead and it was currently being chomped on by a megalodon if she remembered the movie correctly. Now, in this situation she would've laid low and turned to the opposite direction to make a clean get away but no she just had to fire her main gun because it spooked her.
The explosion was deafening as three shells were launched from her turret 2 at the unaware megalodon. However, the shells all missed due to the guns bad dispersion, creating three giant water columns around the feasting shark causing it to switch its gaze to the strange creature which it had never seen in its entire life. But the megalodon understood that the strange creature was contesting for its kill but it would show it how it showed others that tried to take its kill for it was the king of sharks.
With a powerful whip from its giant tail the megalodon was already cutting through the water at an unbelievable speed which made the Yamato to turn it rudder and try to flee its target. However, the megalodon was lighter than the metal battleship so he easily caught up with the ship and hit it on the left side of its body.
In terms of size, the megalodon was 2 time longer than the Yamato which gave it a lot of mass thus a lot of pushing force. To the battleship, she felt a large blow on its left side which caused the ship to veer to the right and spin for a bit before stopping.
' Oh come on, I weigh 65 thousand tons, 65!? Just what workout does this giant do?!'
Luckily, no one could hear her and the meg (short for megalodon) didn't really care about this as it came for a second ramming however it was met with fierce backlash.
It was coming from her left side thus her AA where already getting to work spraying a hail of bullets to the oncoming shark. Though, the AA's calibres won't really penetrate the water that easily so it was safe until it felt something strike its main body as water columns erupted all around it from her main guns which she fired without really aiming.
The wound wasn't deep but it was leaking blood in a sizable amount and the shockwave produced by the explosion caused some internal bleeding. By it wasn't deterred as it went and rammed against the side of the ship with all its might making the strange creature groan as it tilted considerably before it toppled back. Though, one of the secondary's managed to hit its exposed fin, taking out a big chunk of it and making it bleed a lot.
With the meg recalling on its instincts, not its brain, it didn't notice the faint throbbing of pain on its head until after the fourth ram which made an unimaginable amount of pain flare up on its head causing it to stop in the water and float making it an easy target, even if you had bad aim.
The pain was caused from the ramming as its skull caved in on itself. The Yamato wasn't said to be unsinkable, through artillery fire, for nothing. Its armour around the hull is 25 inches thick and since its made out of steel, it is durable and thus whenever the meg rammed the battleship, it was it being hurt rather than the other way around as from all its ramming there some dents here and there caused by the weakness of how the armour was built but overall it was fine.
For the ship the circle in her gun sight showed green as all her other guns were shredding the shark away into nothing by spamming HE ,the real punch came when she fired all her main guns at once aiming dead centre at the meg. The recoil of her guns actually pushed her hull back a couple feet but this just showed the true strength within the shells which were HE.
The meg was absolutely torn apart by the explosion of 6 out of the 9 nine shells that were fired. Walls of fat and meat did little to stop the shells from penetrating and exploding inside of it rupturing its internal organs and causing major internal and external bleeding. Soon enough the meg will be but a corpse and its flesh will be devoured by other beasts not the strange creature it fought as it did not eat flesh or greens but ate pure oil.
The creature from another world turned to the right as it entered flank speed so as to escape the battlefield as other monsters would surely come.
The fight had eaten up some time up and it was close to night time. With nothing but ocean around her, she had no place to hide thus she had to remain vigilant throughout the night as she sailed in unknown waters, so far her mind or body wasn't feeling fatigued which was strange.
She begun to experiment with her sights as she knew that there were look out posts on this ship which made her curious until she managed to switch to them. Currently there were two visions for her lookout which didn't have any gun sight. These sights had a far larger FOV close to that of a human and they could look up down, and sideways though they couldn't look backwards for some weird reason.
It seemed that these lookouts were on the main bridge close to the top of the conning tower which gave her a great view of her ship from up there.
Night fell and something spectacular happened, the sea which looked empty suddenly begun to be filled with glowing creatures. The colours were a lot and were numerous in number almost like a light show.
The lights bounced off of her hull giving her a rainbow like appearance as she sailed through the phenomenon. The whole thing was so beautiful she almost didn't see the red coloured creature keep in mind, almost.
Her whole ship swung to the left as it just narrowly avoided being spiked by a tentacle. Yes a tentacle, you'd think that it was a kraken but you are mistaken for it is just a giant, giant squid that was larger than her by an unknown factor.
Her main guns had to pitch to their highest elevation, 450, for her to see its eyes that glowed in the darkness of the night. Seems like it was going to be her first night battle with this squid.
Tentacles shot out of the water as they latched onto her body bringing her hull to a quick stop. The squid begun to latch more tentacles on her hull even as the AA quickly blew up chunks of the tentacles, they were just too small. Her main guns were being blinded by the tentacles grabbing onto them and in the entire fiasco, Haruka fired both her secondary's out of fright and this seemed to loosen the squids grip even though the shells missed.
And this made some arms move away letting a gap form in her line of sight and two main guns had the squids body in view. Wasting no time she immediately fired at the squids main body as she could feel her hull being lifted out of the water as if it was just a children's toy.
'Seriously, what is this massive strength in the monsters of this world'
Either they were given a spoon of uranium or something but that didn't matter, what matters is that a huge chunk of the squids main body was suddenly blown up. The explosion sent squid flesh and its blue blood into the surrounding waters and the pain it felt made its tails spasm out as it suddenly lifted the Yamato higher into the sky and at a tilt, making her main guns struggle to maintain their elevation as they fought against gravity.
Her rear main gun had an opportunity and fired, the shells leaving at supersonic speeds but somehow two tentacles managed to get in the way of two shells and were severed completely from the arm which made blue blood come out in jets and the one shell managed the find purchase and hit the same wound causing it to explode and create a clean hole through the squid.
This time the squid spasmed even more, lifting the ship higher and made the tilt worse making it the ship couldn't fire on its body but the damage was done and the squids spasms soon came to an abrupt end as its colour dimmed and all its arms lost their strength, dropping the Yamato like a sack of potatoes into the water creating a huge water splash and water column.
In the end the Yamato was unharmed, miraculously, which showed how tough the ship was. In the end Haruka choose to remain there and take a breather and once she was done, she powered the engine and sailed away from the carnage she created.
As she continued sailing into the dead of night and the seemingly light show underwater, she didn't notice the corpse of the squid erupt into a black and red flame that looked kind of demonic in nature as the squids blood and corpse disappeared into ashes.
Haruka had managed to get some peace and quiet without the monsters disturbing her, however, she did find herself in a sticky situation. Her surrounding had turned into a blood red sea which was contrast to what she remembered and in her confusion her whole deck was covered in black and red fire, talk about neat.
This caused her to go into a massive panic mode as she stopped her engine and rotated every gun to cover every angle. The fires weren't hurting her or anything but it did want her to know who caused it.
She swung her first turret around very slowly until something blocked the view of her gun sight and when she zoomed out and used other gun sights she suddenly came face to face with something that looked like a demon, no when she looked closer she realised that it was a demon and more importantly it was female for some reason.
The discovery of this fact shook her to her core which sort of caused her to fire turret 1 at such close range to the demon, this scene reminds me of Battleship the movie, a cloud of smoke billowed from the barrels as in the distance, 3 water columns could be seen erupting from the blood red ocean. Seems like she has a trigger happy finger, shoot first ask questions later.
Though, in this scenario she was just spooked by it and when the smoke dissipated we could see the female demon, not a succubus if that's what you're thinking, totally not harmed which brought a sigh of relief to her.
The demon seemed to have an armour that was slightly bulky and looked to have a rough texture but you could still see the female outline, it had dark blue skin, purple hair and blood red eyes. Lastly was a pair of demon wings behind her back that looked like they were menacing, hinting to the demons high bloodline.
"Well that wasn't a polite way to greet your guests, is it."
For some weird reason she could understand the demon but she didn't realise this yet.
'I thought that you were a monster or something coming to attack me but you just surprised me'
"I surprised you, huh" the demon said while holding her chin "To think I would hear that from a creature not of this world. I really do wonder how you came here all of a sudden"
'Ehh? You know that I'm from another world wait but more importantly how are you understanding me?!'
"For the first question, you may not feel it but the world is trying to expel you from here, why it's doing that is because there's a balance in every world and your introduction disrupts that balance. Other than that even though its faint you have this faint foreign power around you which basically makes you strange and an alien. As for the second one, your body has a spirit even though you can't physically speak you still think and that can be easily read or heard by us all powerful and we can also peer into your soul to obtain knowledge if we want."
Faced with the presence of a suddenly powerful being she couldn't help but ask if she's a demon lord to which the demon burst out laughing when she realised that it was a serious question.
"I am but a middle rank demon right now, there other higher ranks above me and I am but a flea compared to them. As to how I was able to find you, you left a path of destruction that was easily traceable and the beasts you killed would have attracted a lot of attention in hell if their soul went down there as they were high ranked monsters." the demon said as she sat on top of turret two seemingly cosy.
'Wait did I just kill some legendary beasts that were important or something?! Does that mean heaven will be after me??!!'
Again the demon gave that 'are you serious look' of course I was dead serious!!
"Well" the demon started as she jumped down from turret 2 and walked towards the AA placements seemingly interested, " the monsters you killed were important but they aren't like the mystical monsters in these waters and don't even get me started on the titan and primordial monsters. If you were to fight them with your current strength you won't last even a minute before your steel is torn in half and your body sent to the deep. But no need to worry those types of monsters don't even care about you right now as your presence is small so you'll be safe but when you become powerful you'll attract their attention and maybe heaven as they don't act until something big happens."
It took some for me to digest that much information which answered most of her question until one big one surfaced to my mind.
'And why are you helping me, since I'm an anomaly that the world needs to remove why not kill me as it seems you can easily do it'
As she was inspecting the hedgehog of AA the demon didn't even think before answering even though most AA that had enough depression were aiming at her, ready to fire if she goes hostile.
"It is true that I should be killing you, but I'm a demon and where people see danger I see reward and currently you have the potential be of use to me. How about this" the demon suddenly flexed their demon wings and soared so that their at the same height as the main bridge.
"We sign a contract in which you'll keep your life and you can continue on with your life in exchange I would take possession of all the monsters you kill of any class and in exchange depending on the quality and quantity I would give you something in exchange. Since you'll be facing powerful monsters with your limited strength you'd be at a disadvantage, thus you only need to improve yourself which can be a gift, in which you are the one to choose yourself what it will be. I get souls you get gifts, how does that deal sound."
'I need to think'
It's true that it was a good deal no matter how hard she looked at it, there was no loop hole to exploit to her knowledge and in real sense the contract benefited both of them as they both could gain a lot from it so how could she not agree.
'I agree to the deal'
A smile appeared on the demon as a small fire appeared beside it and the contract appeared. The demon took a pen and grabbed something out of herself and took something out of me as well. The thing was that I couldn't feel what was taken but it looked like it collected into the pen then the demon wrote something on the contract to which it burst into golden flames.
"I took a bit of your life force and mine to seal the deal so the contract is now in play and you can currently get two gifts due to your earlier fights."
This both shocked and confused our her but with it she thought about the problems she needed to solve. First was that she is blind to anything that happens underneath as she has no sonar thus would be helpless and even more she has no way to attack those monsters that stay underwater. These were the two most pressing issues she faced as her armour was solid and her guns were fine for now though she would need to upgrade either her armour or electronics in the future.
The demon moved to the bow after receiving the form in which she wanted as gifts though, they were strange indeed. Hovering over bow, the demon took a simple dagger and slight her palm making her purple-red demon blood flow out with two drops before the wound healed.
The two drops of blood, once they hit the deck, looked like they were absorbed into the deck before the ship was engulfed in a red flame. The fire was the demons magic as it modified the body of the creature to suit its gift. When the flames died down it showed the Yamato same as before with a few changes.
If we look at the bow of the battleship, underwater, we see some extensions that looked like rods being exposed from the metal. These was here new sonar equipment which meant that she could see what's around her, at what depth, speed it is and the size of the creature. All this using sonar waves which now meant that she had a whole new electronic system running to the main bridge, thus a new vision or sight was formed where it was just staring at a green background that had markings for depth that periodically produced a ping sound.
Next was on her deck, we could see some 8 grey box on there. Looking at it we see Yamato new underwater defence/attack, that used missiles that are a bit simpler and slightly out dated as they are basically a platform that launch explosives into the water where they can search for their prey for predetermined amount of time before they explode or if their proximity sensor was set off. The range of can be adjusted accordingly but it has a limit. These boxes were 8 cell missiles so times 8 we see that she has a total of 64 missiles to use at any moment.
With these new modifications done, the demon was done and released the Yamato from its temporary illusion as the sun was starting to show itself from the horizon. The sunrise cast a bright light onto the ocean and the new strange creature which was soon going to make a name for itself in the high seas.
With her boilers running at full capacity they pushed the ship with a sudden lurch before it smoothened into a less bumpy experience as the hull pierced through the waves heading was towards the sunrise. The metal on the ships glinted as the guns were beginning to load their massive shells as a new wave of destruction was about to sweep through the ocean and at the heart was this warrior from another world.
Here's a deeper description on the new systems that will be used.
Anti-sub rocket (RUR-5-ASROC)
This is an all- weather ant sub system that fires missiles. Now using the long range of the sonar or support aircraft, an enemy sub can be spotted some kilometres away and the system fires a missiles locked onto this coordinates. Once the missile is close, it would separate and using a parachute to slow down and enter the water, from there it uses its own sonar to track and obliterate the enemy by use of normal explosives or a nuclear depth bomb, yes nuclear, a 10 kiloton warhead to be exact, which she may have.
Sonar
The sonar used here would be a modern type that uses active sonar, this uses a sender/receiver to send out a ping and listen for an echo, using this they can tell the depth and speed of object and passive sonar, which only listens for the vibration or noise an object produces and this can determine the speed, depth and the particular object.
Hmm, I think I'll stick with this storyline draft.
We've come to the end and it looks like the grim reaper will sweep through the ocean, massacring many.
The next chapter has an unknown date of publish as I currently have to work on my other books which require attention.
See you guys next time.
