Chapter 1: Prologue
Welcome dear viewer to the start of my new book 'Reincarnated As A Super Battleship'
All comments are appreciated and votes too, there will be more notes at the end of the prologue.
Location: somewhere near Okinawa, Cruise Ship
The ocean, calm and ever blue, was all you could see. When a dot suddenly appeared on the horizon. As time passed by you could see it become bigger and bigger until you could tell that it was a cruise liner making its way to Japan after taking its passengers on a voyage to remember.
In the bridge
"Captain, all systems are working properly and theirs more than enough fuel to last the remaining distance. All the cargo are safely attached and even that special cargo." the XO said as he addressed as the captain.
"That's good to know. If anything happens you can find me in my room, taking a nap. XO, you have the bridge" the captain said as he made his way out while the XO gave him a nod.
While walking past a window the captain noticed some two ships sailing to their right. They were small compared to their liner but it still confused him why those ships came all the way here. He put that thought to the back of his mind as he made his way to his room.
On the deck we could see people play in the swimming pools or just walking around while chatting. Inside the ship, there were even more people either resting in their rooms or gong to one of the many arcades or interesting places.
It's in one of the arcades we find our MC, playing a shooting game and currently they were about to break the high score but in a turn of events her team mate is killed by a plasma canon to the face.
"Haruka it's all up to you, avenge me!" her friend said in a dying voice.
"I will, Rin"
Haruka, the MC, sighed as her character was crouching behind an overturned tank.
"One life, one clip and a main battle tank ahead of me"
Her hands shook a bit but with a bit of resolve she put on a game face and moved her character. The character rushed from its hiding position as the ground was breaking all around it from the plasma canon. The bullets simply ricocheted no matter where she aimed.
That was the case until she eyed a three barrelled main gun to her right. Using her last grenade she threw in front of the tank. The blast did little damage but created a wall of dust she needed. Using the sprint button she rushed towards the canon and managed to get to the pilot seat.
The camera zoomed out to show the enemy tank shoot at the main gun but it simply deflected off of the armour.
"Eat 18 inch shells you bastard"
A resounding boom sounded from the game before a bright explosion filled her screen with a congratulations panel showing above it.
You've cleared the game!
Player: Haruka is first on the leader boards with the highest score of 1,000,000
Congratulations
It took a few seconds for the fact to settle that she cleared the hardest game that made many players give up close to the end.
Rin squealed in delight as she hugged her. The two of them were in university but they were both gamers which made their friendship easy to start off.
"I can't believe you cleared the hardest game, solo!"
"It wasn't solo you helped me most of the times" Haruka said as she looked at Rin with a smile.
"Most of the times I was dead even before the main battle took place, so you basically soloed the entire thing. We should go and celebrate this with a victory lunch which I'll pay".
Haruka tried to decline the offer but was taken forcefully by Rin which made her brown hair swish a little. In the end she couldn't decline as once Rin is focused on something it is nearly impossible to shake her resolve.
Haruka sighed again as they made their way to a famous restaurant on the ship which was on the left of the ship. When they passed by some windows Haruka noticed some two ships sailing with the linear. This caused her to question somethings but most was her gut feeling, which was a feeling of fear that made her want to run away.
She ignored that feeling and continued on their way for victory lunch.
In the bridge
With the captain gone to rest it was now in the hands of the XO to make sure the ship runs smoothly. However, there was one problem.
"Any response from the two ships sailing on either side of the ship." he asked the person in charge for communication.
"Nothing, even when we use the light signals we can't contact them to find out what they want."
The XO sighed as he felt sweat begin to form on his forehead, "Alert the chief of security to stay on guard with his men, hopefully this are just civilians."
But as you always know they weren't civilians as within these 4 ships were a group of terrorists each waiting for the signal to begin and what they would do, would shock the world.
"Let's run through the plan again. We destroy the ship that's it"
Simple but enough to cause a panic in Japan. "Ready our men, we begin the carnage in five minutes." the leader of the group said as each subordinate nodded with orders relayed to the other 3 ships.
Restaurant
"Thank you for the meal"
We find our two friends currently walking out of the restaurant with their bellies.
"I never knew shrimp, fish and octopus could be cooked like that." Haruka said as she held her stomach.
"Right, at first it looked gross but when I took a bit of it was like I was in food heaven!" Rin said with dreamy eyes.
The both of them laughed as they pasted a wall window which gave Haruka a sense a dread like no other. When her sharp brown eyes looked at the ships on the other side, she saw some doors slide opened as something shiny was pulled out.
It took her a moment to release what it was but when she did she tackled Rin down while yelling at her to get down as all hell broke loose.
In the bridge one of the lookouts on the bridge saw movement on the ships. He brought out his binoculars to get a closer look and what he saw petrified him for a few seconds before he shouted.
"We're under attack! Get down!"
While simultaneously pressing the ship wide alarm right next to him making klaxons and alarms blare in distress as an automated distress call was sent.
Time moved in slow motion as we could see the terrorist pull out mounted mini-guns, automatic rifles and a secret weapon. A pause took place before the gates of hell were opened.
RA-ta-ta-ta-ta-ta-a-ta-ta-ta
The mini-guns and rifles opened up smashing through the paper thin hull and walls of the yacht that wasn't meant for combat as on top of the 4 ships two death guns swivelled to acquire their targets, their barrels spinning up bear its bullets teared across the air as it let out a deep sound that brought fear to everyone on the ship.
Brrrrrrr
Two CIWIS on each of the terrorist ships, god help us all.
The CIWIS went in an orderly fashion with some going from the back to front of the ship, other guns the opposite direction.
Inside shouts and screams filled the air as glass, wood and metal went flying everywhere causing people to die or be injured from the shrapnel and bullets. The bridge was the first on to be targeted thus killing everyone in it and all instruments.
Then they went lower and lower until explosions shook the ship as they hit the fuel source and maybe the generators of the ship. When they were finished the ship was already beginning its slow descent beneath the waves as it filled the air with black smoke clouding the sun and covering the ocean in an orange colour.
It seemed that in the final shots, they managed to hit something in the cargo hold that triggered a very fire intense explosion throughout the ship.
Inside, the situation was worse, support beams had fallen over, walls crumpled as well as roofs and water was beginning to fill the lower decks. Haruka coughed as she woke up only to see a horrifying sight. The ship was burning and there was smoke everywhere.
Underneath her, Rin was out unconscious but she was fine. Slowly but surely she managed to get Rin on her back, which made her realise that Rin was heavy. She struggled to find a way out with paths being blocked by rubble but she managed to get out through a window.
Outside it was a gruesome sight, bodies shredded apart by bullets, blood still fresh on the floor and brain matter in some places. She ignored them all and went to the life boats where she saw two familiar faces.
"Mom, Dad!" she said as she neared the life boats.
Her parents heard her and immediately smiled as they took Rin from her exhausted body. Rin was safely put in a life raft that still wasn't full. Some life rafts were already gone as they were full.
"Haruka, my daughter, I'm so glad you're safe" her father said as he hugged her.
"Same but where's Yuu"
It was at that point that they had a pained expression.
"Yuu was with us but after the explosion we couldn't find him, but that doesn't matter all that matters is that your safe." her mother said with a pained smile, "we need to leave the boat can sink or explode at any minute."
Haruka was beginning to back away as she shook her head "No, I'm not leaving here without Yuu."
She immediately spun of her heels as she entered the smoking ship that was beginning to burn with flames, ignoring the protests of her parents.
Looking for a small boy in a burning ship was hard with all the smoke and flames but she knew she'd find him as her gut lead her to a maintenance room.
Inside was Yuu and another small girl, they had both passed out. Haruka struggled to carry them but she ignored that as she made her way through the maze of flame and debris.
She managed to find a different route that lead outside where some people were. She smiled that she was going to be safe until she heard a really loud sound.
*Crack*
Her eyes widened as she looked at the ceiling which was cracking apart and about to fall. Without thinking she threw the two at the people outside before the roof caved in ceiling her inside.
"Damn it!" she cursed as she desperately tried to find an escape route.
Outside, the smoke was becoming thick and the intense fire was making it impossible for people to be on the deck. This forced them to release the life boats. Haruka's parents were yelling at the surviving officer but he shut them up with stern words.
"I would rather sacrifice a single life than sacrifice an entire boat worth of people. I know she's your child. We've all lost people dear to us but have hope that she's on the other side of the life boats." he said as he released the boat into the ocean.
Meanwhile Haruka was not safe at all, she was still stuck on the burning ship. She tried and tried to find an escape route until she heard a high pitch whistle from below. Something in the cargo hold was beginning to cook up and the end result won't be very good. Her heart beat accelerated as her mind rested on one place, the engines.
She looked for a secure room, which she found and closed the water tight door behind her as a deep rumble shook the ship before the passed out as something hit her.
Outside the life boats put as much distance between them and the ship before the linear exploded into a large fire ball as something, definitely not nuclear, exploded.
"Get down!"
People lowered their heads as an intense shock wave shook the life boat before an intense heat swept over them almost like they were being cooked. When it was over the people looked at the ship which had now split in half like the Yamato and Titanic I think.
People remained silent as they watched the parts of the ship rapidly sink beneath the waves as a large amount of smoke billowed into the air.
After an hour the coast guard managed to reach the survivors with multiple ships and rescue helicopters. By now only the blades of the turbines could be seen before even those slipped beneath the waters.
Later this was reported as breaking news that a terrorist group brought down a civilian ship which made the J.M.S.D.F angry as they had video footage of what happen because it was circulating the internet. It was reported those that died and Haruka was one of them, bringing grief to her parents and close friends even though Yuu was alive.
This lead to mass subjugation of marine terrorist groups as way to honour the dead.
But our MC was far from being dead, yet. When she opened her eyes she realised she was floating as water was seeping into the room. She couldn't see anything until an orange light illuminated the room.
When she looked outside, she saw a large chunk of the yacht burning underwater as well as the back half just behind it in flames as well. This seemed to defy physics but in real sense it was just oil burning underwater.
She didn't know how far down she was but she knew it was deep as there was no sunlight and the pressure was slowly but surely making the glass crack. She would die from the pressure in an instant if she broke that window.
So she stayed there as the water level kept on getting higher making her have hypothermia. Before the window broke apart, she saw a structure below on the ocean bed. It was covered in rust but she could make out a bow as well as a flipped gun some meters away.
It was only when she was closer and the burning oil giving more light did she realize she was staring at the Yamato.
The biggest battleship to be constructed and sunk. It was truly a sight to see in her final moments as she could see the bridge and the holes where the main guns should be.
Sure she had regrets but this made her accept death as the room caved in on itself as the window broke open causing water to enter killing her instantly from the pressure.
At least in was a quick painless death.
The burning Yacht continued as it rested beside the Yamato.
Haruka's spirit was gone, ascending upwards to heaven until it disappeared from that spiritual plane by some other celestial force.
Somewhere in the multiverse.
"A soul so pure that is almost impossible to find. Though the gods of that world may question the taking of this spirit, I shall use you as my warrior but first you need to be strong. You need a weapon but what will that be."
The entity peered into the girls memories until it came upon a suitable weapon
"That will be perfect, for you will be the empress of the sea. Now all you need is a world that is harsh and filled with powerful beings. Ahh, found one. Good luck my warrior I shall wait for your ascension."
Haruka's POV
Blinding white was all she could see as she struggled to think properly until her vision become cleared and her thoughts became focused.
Her body felt weird as it felt as if she was lying flat down. Her eyes adjusted to the sudden brightness until she saw something weird. Her vision was suddenly split into 7 with some forwards, backwards and sideways. In all of them she saw markings on them like gun sights.
She tried moving her legs but found that they were rigid she could only move her foot in a circular manner. Somehow in her testing she managed to switch two of her visions to a higher place where they didn't have sights and allowed her to look a full 180 degrees left right and up down but she couldn't look backwards for a weird reason but when she looked down she couldn't help but scream which was heard as a loud blare from her horn.
She looked at herself some more until she realised that she became a battleship but not just any battleship she became the Yamato which was lucky and shocking.
'What happened to me?'
She asked herself as she eyed her unfamiliar environment which was filled with monsters, which she didn't know, that lurked beneath the waves.
And scene, that was something. Next chapter will be in a few days as we begin to her first encounter with the predators of this world.
