Chapter 174
Tern had the authority over this place, so he opened the door directly.
The door opened, and Chu Muxi walked in.
At a glance, one could see many tall mechas inside, but they didn’t look so complete now.
Some of them were hung high on the back, with several thick data cables plugged into them.
Some people in white coats were busy surrounding the mechas. One of the people standing outside the crowd heard the noise and turned around.
His eyes fell on Chu Muxi. The man frowned slightly and asked Tern, who quickly stepped forward, “Tern, who did you bring in? Don’t you know what this is—”
“Ahem! Ahem! This is Young Master Chu, our boss’s… person.” He whispered the last word into the other man’s ear.
The man was stunned for a moment. Chu Muxi, standing far away, didn’t hear what they said, but he noticed the man frowning at him earlier and had originally wanted to explain himself.
When Tern walked up and whispered something to the man, the man’s expression immediately softened.
The two walked over side by side. Tern pointed to the man in the white coat and said to Chu Muxi, “This is our maintenance engineer, Gavin. Gavin, this is Young Master Chu. He’s our boss’s guest.”
After speaking, he glanced at Gavin. Gavin rolled his eyes at him. When his gaze shifted to Chu Muxi, he smiled slightly and reached out his hand, “Hello, I’m Gavin.”
“Hello, just call me Chu Muxi,” Chu Muxi said as they shook hands.
Gavin shook hands and said, “No, no, no, I’d better call you Young Master Chu.”
He was joking, of course. How could he just call him Chu Muxi or Muxi? That would get him sent to the recycling yard along with the abandoned mechas.
Chu Muxi pointed to the mechas behind him. “Are all of these mechas going to be repaired?”
“Some have been abandoned and are headed for the recycling yard, some are waiting for repairs, and others are about to be overhauled,” Gavin explained as he noticed Chu Muxi’s curiosity about the mechas, which suggested that he really liked them. So, he began walking him inside, explaining things as they went.
There were no secrets here anyway, and the item the other man was carrying already showed how powerful his authority was.
The three of them walked up to a grey-blue mecha. Chu Muxi looked up at the mecha in front of him. “What’s the issue with this mecha?”
Gavin looked at the data on the display screen connected to the data cable. “During a previous patrol, we encountered a pirate group. During the battle, one of its arms was cut off. I’m preparing to replace it with a new one.”
Chu Muxi nodded and couldn’t help but touch it. It was cold.
When he had seen Chunjun before, he had wanted to try it. Now, finally touching a real mecha, Chu Muxi felt a bit excited.
They walked a little further and heard the sound of someone arguing up ahead.
“My Greedy Wolf can still be saved!! You guys can fix it, I know it! He’s very powerful!”
“The core has been replaced twice already. Now it needs another one.”
“Replace it again then! Can’t you replace it a third time?”
“It’s possible, but it’s very labour-intensive, and if it’s not done properly, it could destroy the entire energy box inside. By then, the mecha would be completely scrapped. It’s not worth it.”
“But don’t you plan to replace my entire energy box now? Based on what you said, the data will have to be redone. Then my Greedy Wolf won’t even be my Greedy Wolf anymore! It’ll be another brand new mecha! Damn it! I don’t believe it! Call Gavin and have him replace the core!” the man said stubbornly.
