Chapter 171
Tern’s expression remained stiff until they returned to the surface and exited the elevator.
Chu Muxi glanced at him and, pretending to be confused, asked Lu Junzhi, “What’s wrong with Tern? He looks like he’s been frightened.”
Lu Junzhi gave Tern a brief glance, and Tern immediately straightened his posture, his face becoming expressionless.
Chu Muxi was secretly amused. He probably guessed why.
It must have been when he was in the elevator, asking Lu Junzhi if he really wanted him to pilot Chunjun.
“Where are we going now?” Chu Muxi asked.
Lu Junzhi looked at him and replied, “I’ll take you to where you’ll be staying. You can get some rest.”
“Sounds good.”
Tern drove up an aircraft, and both Chu Muxi and Lu Junzhi got on board.
“When did you discover this planet?” Chu Muxi asked.
“When we travelled from Caesar Star to the frontline battlefield.” Lu Junzhi took a bottle of juice, opened it, and handed it to him. “Drink this.”
Chu Muxi took it without looking and took a sip. Raising his eyebrows, he said, “What is this? It tastes good.”
He turned the bottle around in his hand. It looked like an ordinary glass bottle, but then he noticed the dark blue drink inside.
The colour reminded him of the dark blue starry sky stone he’d seen before.
“This is our specialty here!” Tern, who was in the driver’s seat, suddenly chimed in with a grin.
“You have specialties here?” Chu Muxi raised his eyebrows, giving a look that said, ‘This is a base, so why do you have specialties?’
Lu Junzhi coughed, and Tern immediately straightened up, understanding that the boss wasn’t inclined to explain, so it fell to him to provide the introduction.
“There are eight fleets in total within the Deep Space Fleet. The first fleet is the Deep Blue Fleet led by the boss. The second through the eighth fleets aren’t all stationed here; they’re spread out,” Tern explained, sneaking a peek at Lu Junzhi’s expression.
Seeing that Lu Junzhi was just smiling at Chu Muxi, Tern continued more confidently.
“Normally, everyone’s here. It’s only when there’s a change in defence that they move to other places. If nothing’s going on, we plant vegetables and flowers here.”
“Your daily life is… surprisingly peaceful.” Chu Muxi suppressed a smile. “Can we visit later?”
Tern grinned, “Of course! Everyone has been wanting to meet you, Young Master Chu—” Tern’s voice cut off abruptly, realizing he had spoken too quickly.
He stole a glance at Lu Junzhi, but Lu Junzhi was just smoothing Chu Muxi’s hair. Tern couldn’t help but feel like he shouldn’t be inside the aircraft at that moment—he should be under it.
Right then, he regretted having won the guessing game that put him in this position. What he had thought was a victory now felt like a curse.
The pride and joy he had felt earlier were now replaced by regretful tears inside.
Chu Muxi, feeling his hair, turned around and asked, “What’s wrong with my hair?”
“It’s a bit messy,” Lu Junzhi answered seriously.
He didn’t care about the confused look on his subordinate’s face, who seemed like he wanted to sink under the aircraft.
Chu Muxi snorted, “So, what do you usually do at the base?” he asked, continuing the conversation.
“Handle official business,” Lu Junzhi replied calmly.
‘And beat us up,’ Tern mentally added, rolling his eyes.
But Chu Muxi, catching Tern’s expression from the corner of his eye, said, “Is that right? You can’t be handling official business twenty-four hours a day. Tern doesn’t seem to agree with that.”
Lu Junzhi hummed, glancing at Tern with a stern look.
Tern nodded just as seriously. “Yes, that’s right. Our boss is very dedicated.”
