Chapter 20: CHAPTER-20
Ecruteak city.
Noah stood in the empty streets while holding a kebab in his hands.
There was not a single soul in the street which made Noah feel a bit creepy.
'Where the fuck is everybody?' He wondered and released his lampent out of its pokeball.
There was no one besides Noah which makes you wonder what happened to the brown-haired gremlin he met yesterday.
'Oak didn't agree to it.' Noah felt a bit dejected after losing the chance to have Gary in his team.
Even though he didn't watch the anime he did see some clips on the internet and Noah loved how big of a dickhead Gary was.
'I mean who would leave their 10 year old grandson with a man who will be an adult in a few months.' He reasoned.
I don't see a reason for Oak to send his 10 year old grandson into the Pokemon world too.
'I will ask around at the Pokemon center.' He walked towards the direction of the Pokemon center.
He didn't notice the two earrings in his ears twinkling with a dim light.
A few minutes later.
Noah walked out the Pokemon center with a perplexed expression.
'So..... something wierd is going on in tin tower the very next day I arrived at ecruteak city,
Not a coincidence at all.' Noah changed his destination towards tin tower.
He was wearing a lab coat with a black shirt underneath and black pants with white shoes.
White.....
Noah hurried up, not wanting to miss anything that may be happening at the tin tower right now.
'I hope it's not something stupid like team rocket appearing out of nowhere in their hot air balloon.' Noah prayed to Arceus.
He...is close.
Too close.
'Does this have something to do with that lady?' Noah still couldn't find any records of this women in the whole history of johto region.
Because ecruteak seems to be purposely hiding her, he decided to take a different route of investigation.
Truth be told he did not succeed.
'Kimono girls are my last hope.' He was about to start a full on sprint but something collided into him from behind.
Noah lost his balance as he fell towards the ground but his reflexes save his face from the ground as his hands quickly held him up.
"Oh sorry I was in a hurry." He heard a sweet voice behind and he turned around.
There he saw a girl wearing a plain red kimono and her long black hair reaching her hands.
He looked at her face and saw her face was full of scars, some of them soo deep Noah couldn't believe.
But it still wasn't able to hide the girl's beauty as her golden eyes seems to be shining.
"You okay?" She reached out her hand to help Noah up.
"Yeah." He recieved it and stood up and looked at her lost in thought for a moment.
'I am pretty sure I have seen her somewhere.'
His goldfish memory wasn't helping him.
"Where are you going in such a hurry?" Noah blurted out but immediately regretted it.
A awkward silence enveloped the streets.
'That sounds soo creepy, why would a stranger you just met ask you that?' Noah was about to run away but she suddenly answered.
"Umm...I am going to the tin tower to calm the Pokemon down." She said with some hesitation.
'So that means no tin tower for me.' Noah didn't want to be known as a creep who stalked a girl into an old tower where no one visits.
But against his thoughts the girl asked: "Would you accompany me?"
'Now why would you ask that to a total stranger?' Noah being Noah accepted it.
"Sure I was on my way to check it out too." He said and walked infront.
The girl stood there secretly glancing at his earrings and followed after him when he was about to go out of her sight.
Noah just didn't notice that she was staring at his earrings the whole time they interacted.
__________________________________________
Tin tower:
Noah walked through the webs with the woman he just met by his side and looked out for any bug pokemon.
The moment they arrived he saw the whole place was filled with cobwebs and he was stopped by the girl from burning them down.
'Now that I think about it, I never introduced myself.'
He said without looking back: "My name's Noah by the way."
She nodded but Noah didn't see that.
'This is so uncomfortable.' Noah started regretting his decision.
Maybe sensing Noah's awkwardness the girl suddenly asked: "Do you wanna hear a tale passed down in my family?"
Noah was feeling curious and he needed all the information whether true or fake for him to research any further.
"Sure." He replied.
The girl immediately started: "Long, long ago during the time when the burned tower was still around there was an old tradition called the feather dance."
"Isn't that a Pokemon mo-" Noah was not able finish as a slap fell on his head.
'Why so agressive.' He sighed and entered the tower.
The woman followed after him.
She continued: "The dance had a lot of names such as the wing dance and the bell dance but the idea was the same."
"It was a dance done by a kimono girl both pure in heart and soul to help the people of johto by requesting the power of the guardian of the sky and the guardian of the seas."
"Also known as Ho-oh and lugia."
'She knows who lugia is?' Noah wasn't suprised about Ho-oh but lugia was a pokemon rarely seen that the majority of johto residents didn't know it exists.
"These girls were trained from a young age and their mindset was different from something a kid should have and they were completely loyal to the people in power who raised them."
'So basically brainwashing little kids for the benifit of johto.' Noah arrived at the third floor but he did not stop.
"During the dance the girl would be about 18 years of age and they wore a red kimono with fiery patterns and was given the earrings made with the silver wing and the rainbow wing."
'She is onto me.' Noah prepared to defend himself incase she decided to snatch his earrings away while ripping it through his ears.
"That's it?" Noah asked wanting a bit more information.
"Not at all now I am gonna tell you the story of how the tower burned down so listen carefully."
Noah raised his attention and slowed down his walking speed.
"It was a time of despair as droughts and natural disasters frequently struck the lands of johto."
"The population was cut in half and the town heads decided to hold an assembly and decided to send out a kimono girl for the blessings of the two legendary Pokemon."
"The chosen girl was known as the nameless girl."
'Wierd name.' Noah wanted to throw some comments in but he did not want to get smacked again.
'If it was someone else I would have fought back but this is a women.' Noah was a gentleman.
Which is completely wrong considering the things he is going to do in the future.
Especially that one girl who traded him a haunter holding an everstone in the sinnoh region.
"The girl had no name, no background and the kimono was the only piece of clothing she had."
"She was a wierd kid always bullied by others but she kept on smiling because she thought that they were showing her tough love."
"The dance was held on the top of the burned tower as four crystal bells were tied to every corner it the roof."
"These bells are supposed to chime the moment the two legendary Pokemon descended to grant their blessings."
"The nameless girl danced and danced with all kinds of movements which could hypnotise anything in the world."
"The nameless girl danced and danced but no legendary pokemon was seen."
"The nameless girl danced and danced for days and nights until all hopes of the people were put out."
"She danced and danced despite the discouragement and scorn she recieved from others."
"She did not rest nor sleep because on her mind she was living for one purpose and that was to help the people of johto."
"The monks from sprout tower laughed, the dragon masters from the dragon pitied,
The people of johto blamed, but she still kept on dancing."
"Three different Pokemon were by her side wanting to stop her but their cries were not heard." Her voice cracked and she seems to be having ptsd.
Noah was only two floors away from the roof as he wanted to turn around and look at the woman once again to see her expression but he stopped himself.
She continued as if nothing happened: "Soon rumors of her debauchery and how it corrupted her heart spread throughout the lands. The people who were looking for a reason connected this with the reason why the legendary Pokemon never appeared."
"She was scorned, the dance was supposed to be a sacred ritual where no one except the kimono girl was allowed but some people got in and threw stones at her and she was looked with disdain."
"They did not go far though, what if the Pokemon suddenly showed up? How were they supposed to explain it?"
"Soon the three heretical birds noticed and pulled one of their pathetic pranks on the tower and burned it down." Frustration was evident in her voice as the sound of gritted teeth even reached Noah.
Noah kept quiet the whole time, it was not because he didn't want to say something but it's because he didn't know what to say.
" Icicles pierced through her flesh, flames charred her skin, thunder fried her brains,
The people celebrated finally having some drops of water which the ice bird gave as charity."
"They knew what happened to her but they kept saying it was divine judgement and she shouldn't have committed adultery."
"The girl was heartbroken but she still somehow kept on dancing with her broken and disfigured body as the dead bodies of her three pokemon layed by her legs."
"Tears were flowing out of her eyes but she still kept on smiling because the kimono girl should be in a joyful state while dancing."
"Soon the downpour subsided, the people cursed, rainbows formed, rain fell again,
Two huge Pokemon one silver and the other shining in a rainbow light loomed across the sky."
"They descended into the destroyed tower,
The people rejoiced seeing the legendary pokemons, the woman's broken body layed on the basement floor as a huge hole went through the roof and the other floors."
"The Pokemon gathered around her and impressed by the human and feeling some guilt they decided to grant her one final wish."
"Even though her body has stopped moving the Pokemon still heard her final wish of revival."
"But this wasn't for her to live again but it was for her Pokemon, this showed her love for her Pokemon because her last thoughts were to live a free life."
"But she gave it up for her Pokemon."
"Her wish was granted, the rainbow Pokemon revived the three Pokemon now known as the roaming legendaries, the silver Pokemon still held guilt as it flew away never to interact with any humans again after losing its hope in humanity."
"The rainbow Pokemon protestes but seeing that the silver Pokemon wasnt going to change its decision the rainbow Pokemon reluctantly agreed."
"Her three Pokemon roamed the lands looking for someone atleast similar to her because they felt they were the reason for Ho-oh's and Lugia's seperation."
"They felt that someone both pure in heart and soul would make the two legendary Pokemon
to reunite again."
"That's the end of the story."
The girl poured in so much effort and passion for telling the tale, tears were flowing from her,
She seems to be reminiscing something.
They finally reached the and Noah leaned against the rail.
"Damn that's crazy." That was all he had to say.
He took a look at the girl infront of him again as her entire attire have been changed.
She wore a red kimono with fiery patterns and her long hair was tied up as two earrings similar to Noah dangled in her ears.
Her scars were gone revealing her beautiful face.
She chucked and said: "That's it? I was thinking of a more frightened reaction considering I am a ghost."
"Well I don't know what to say." Noah replied.
She approached the railing and looked below the scenery and said: "You are wearing the exact earrings that I was wearing, you must have been chosen by my pokemon. Your heart is okay but your soul is wierd, I am not sure if you can reunite lugia and ho-oh."
"Okay." Noah replied dryly.
Noah turned around to observe the scenery together with her.
At this moment she suddenly pointed out towards the forest and said: "Suicune is there!"
Joy could be visible on her face.
"Was it always anti social when it was with you?" Noah asked curiously.
"Not at all." She replied and turned towards him.
"It's time for me to leave there's a special dance event at the theater today and I don't want to miss it, so you can ask me one question and I will answer it before leaving."
Urgency could be sensed from her tone.
'Ghosts have hobbies too?' Noah thought for a few moments and decided on his question.
He turned towards her with a serious expression and asked: "Do you know about anything known as ordinary other than the literal meaning of the word?"
'I hope she does.' He didn't really expect much from her.
But his face cringed when he saw her blushing.
She shyly but passionately answered: "Ofcourse I know there was this one man about the same age as me who visited the town during that time and he was soo handsome, he had long black silky hair and ink black eyes and he looked so depressed I just wanted to hug him and comfort him but my responsibilities were holding me back, he was the talk of the town and he called himself ordinary but the girls loved him even more and pitied him everytime they saw him just looking around with dead but innocent eyes!"
Naoh's brain naturally filtered out the useless parts and absorbed the useful ones.
'Edgy, handsome, cringe naming sense,
and even had girls gawking for him, pretty sure he's a typical reincarnator.' Noah did not feel jealous for the good looks.
Not at all.
Although his thoughts may say otherwise.
"That all." The woman went back to her dignified demeanor once again.
'You ain't fooling me.' Noah turned towards the city.
They both stood there in complete silence and lost in thought for an unknown amount of time until Noah asked: "Aren't you going to the dance theater?"
The girl was brought back from her contemplation as she climbed the railing and stood on it.
She smiled and turned as the sunset was covered by her body.
"Visit me regularly it's not easy for a ghost to spend her time alone you know." She spread out her arms and fell down.
Noah saw her plummeted through the air but the moment she reached the ground, she vanished.
A smile was present on Noah's face as he climbed the railing and did the same action as he spread out his arms.
His balance needed a bit more work though.
He lost his balance and started to fall.
'Now why did I do this?' Noah did not know.
But he was stopped from falling as something held his lab coat tightly.
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING!" He heard a shout and looked up.
There he saw a kid wearing a red cap with a Pikachu in his shoulder gripping his lab coat to pull him up.
He had both a worried and frustrated expression as he needed the help of his friends.
Noah smiled and said: "Good question, I would also like to know."
