The fierce slash unleashed a black bolt in mid-air.

Sparks flashed.

Mismagius was struck down, falling straight out of the sky.

Physical strength has always been a magician's weak point, and the magical robe it wore couldn't withstand the sharpness of Greninja's blade.

The attack, boosted by "Night Slash," dealt double the damage and defeated Mismagius with one hit!

As Greninja landed gracefully, Mismagius's eyes turned into swirling shapes, signaling its defeat outside the battlefield.

"Mismagius is unable to battle. Greninja wins!" the referee declared.

Morty looked slightly stunned. "You've got some serious skill to win six Gym Badges in the Hoenn Region!" he admitted, retrieving Mismagius with a Poké Ball and preparing his next move. With a flourish, he tossed out another Poké Ball.

Out emerged Froslass, an Ice/Ghost Pokémon inspired by the mythical "Snow Woman," at a formidable level of 62.

Chris frowned slightly. "I don't get it."

Greninja had an advantage against Ghost-types. What was Morty planning by sending out Froslass?

"Froslass, use Hail!" Morty commanded, initiating a weather-changing strategy.

Froslass elegantly waved its white sleeve, summoning a storm in the sky. Snow began falling, and amidst the swirling flurries, Froslass's figure became ethereal and difficult to track.

"Weather tactics?" Chris muttered, recognizing the strategy. At higher levels, weather-based maneuvers were becoming increasingly common.

The hazy, shifting figure of Froslass made Chris hesitate over his next command.

"Should I start with Surf?" he pondered aloud. But Froslass's ability to fly rendered the move less effective.

"Froslass, use Thunderbolt!" Morty shouted, seizing the initiative.

Amidst the snowstorm, Froslass's figure flickered, and a dazzling Thunderbolt crackled through the icy winds, illuminating the battlefield.

"So that's why he chose Froslass," Chris realized. "It's because it can use Thunderbolt!"

With newfound understanding, Chris snapped his fingers. "Greninja, use Role Play!"

He recalled that Froslass had two potential Abilities: Snow Cloak, which raised its evasion rate in snowstorms, and Cursed Body, which could disable a move after being hit. Judging by its performance, Snow Cloak seemed to be the active Ability.

"Your Ability is good," Chris remarked with a sly grin. "So it's mine now!"

Greninja reached out, conjuring a shimmering elemental hat in mid-air. As it placed the hat on itself, the accessory dissolved into a faint glow, and Greninja's form grew indistinct, blending into the snowy backdrop.

Not only did Snow Cloak grant Greninja concealment in the storm, but it also rendered it immune to Hail damage. The battlefield now favored both Froslass and Greninja.

As Froslass's Thunderbolt flashed again, Greninja vanished from sight.

"Your weather is working wonders for me!" Chris said with a laugh.

Seeing this, Morty felt exasperated and muttered to himself about how overpowered the move "Role Play" was. Its ability to strategically copy an opponent's Ability, regardless of its usefulness, made it an unpredictable game-changer.

"Do you think you can evade my attacks by hiding in the snow?" Morty challenged, his eyes narrowing. "Don't underestimate my eyes!"

Chris raised an eyebrow in surprise as Morty's gaze sharpened with uncanny focus.

"Three o'clock, Thunderbolt!" Morty ordered.

A blinding Spark pierced through the snowstorm, hurtling toward Greninja's concealed position. Chris's eyes widened in astonishment. "Wait... his claim about those eyes was real?!"

"Referee, I protest! This trainer is clearly cheating!" Chris exclaimed.

The referee, however, ignored him, knowing full well the Gym Leader had some unique tricks up his sleeve.

"Double Team!" Chris commanded, thinking quickly.

Amid the snowstorm, Greninja split into five identical copies. Almost instantly, one of the illusions was shattered by Froslass's Thunderbolt.

"Double Team, huh? That won't work on me!" Morty sneered. "Let me see... the fourth Greninja on the right... no, wait. How can there be two real Greninjas?"

For a moment, Morty looked puzzled, but his confidence in his so-called "eyes" was unshaken. He quickly reached a conclusion.

"One of those must be a Substitute! Let's destroy them all one by one and see how many times your Greninja can use it! Froslass, use Discharge!"

Electric sparks danced through the icy battlefield.

"Lock onto Froslass's position and use Quick Attack!" Chris ordered, ready for this moment.

Though Froslass remained hidden in the swirling snow, its electric attacks betrayed its location with the glowing sparks they produced. Using this as a guide, two Greninjas darted toward Froslass simultaneously.

The brilliant spark of electricity struck one Greninja, causing it to explode in a puff of smoke. It was just a Substitute, deliberately taking the hit to protect the original.

The real Greninja reached Froslass successfully.

"Shadow Sneak!" Chris and Morty shouted in unison.

Dark, shadowy arms extended from behind both Pokémon, each restraining the other. The eerie grip locked Greninja and Froslass in place, their attacks momentarily halted.

Both trainers knew the power of Shadow Sneak wasn't just in its restraint but also in its ability to land decisive blows when timed perfectly. For now, the match was a standoff.

"Dark Pulse!" Chris shouted.

"Thunderbolt!" Morty countered.

Both Pokémon unleashed their moves simultaneously. A beam of dark, sinister energy and a crackling bolt of lightning collided in mid-air, creating a deafening explosion. The resulting smoke swirled across the battlefield.

As the dust settled, both Greninja and Froslass remained locked in their Shadow Sneaks. The shadowy arms, deceptively slender, held with a strength neither Pokémon could break.

Suddenly, another Greninja materialized beside the original.

"Substitute? Again?!" Morty groaned in frustration. "How is it even possible to create a Substitute while restrained by Shadow Sneak? This is ridiculous!"

"Dark Pulse! Times two!" Chris commanded.

The two Greninjas opened their mouths in unison, unleashing twin beams of dark energy.

"Blizzard!" Morty shouted, attempting a counterattack.

Froslass began conjuring a powerful snowstorm. A spiral of icy wind started to form, but before the Blizzard could reach full strength, the beams of dark energy pierced through the swirling snow and struck Froslass directly.

The icy battlefield fell silent as Froslass collapsed, unable to continue.
