Chapter 83: Chapter 83 - Riolu and Starly's Determination
Third person POV
The next morning, Rico, Jonathan, and everyone in the house are having a nice breakfast at the dining table. Edward had stayed in the house for the night, even though his family's home was just within the city's boundaries. The meal for this morning consisted of toasted bread with butter and cheese, cups of coffee, some warm empanadas with tomato paste in it, and glasses of mineral water. Their Pokémon are eating their special food in food bowls in the room. All of them are in high spirits and had slept well last night.
"So, Rico, Jonathan," Campillo asked the Cruz siblings while munching on his toast, "have you slept well last night? How's the room?"
"It's great, professor," replied Rico back positive while sipping on his cup of coffee with milk and sugar.
"Thank you for giving us a place to stay, professor," Jonathan gratefully added.
"You're welcome, kids," Campillo responded back happily.
After breakfast, Campillo and Edward did the dishes and the dining table cleaning. Rico and Juan cleaned the main room of the house. Jonathan and his Pokémon team, alongside Rico's Riolu, Starly, and Prinplup, cleaned the front yard within the walls. The cleaning took 25 minutes to finish, and after that, all of them went out to explore the city's wonders and skyline.
Kamias City is the largest of the six cities in Metro Kamias, which is known as the Six Core Metals of Philas. This city was the largest by population. The largest city by land size goes to Martel City, which had triple the size of Kamias by land area. Kamias City was a metropolis, with skyscrapers, apartments, condominiums, business centers, and urban houses. It, just like almost every municipality in the region, had a Pokémon Center across the street from the city's biggest plaza. That Pokémon Center was big, and it could accommodate over 230-250 people at once. The aforementioned plaza, the Azul Plaza, was the biggest in the city, and it was laid in a crisscross pattern with a circular center. The park was also lined with blue pea flowers, blue tulips, and red and blue roses that the city's hired gardeners maintained. It also had marble modernist pieces of art in cubes and other shapes as decorations. In the center circle stood the historical Founders' Obelisk, which was said to be built by the region's founders 1,000 years ago. Other features of the Azul Plaza are an event area and roofed stage, three gazebos made of bricks and concrete, battle areas for Pokémon battles, and an area dedicated to food stalls and small gaming stalls. The plaza was a popular place for tourists, Pokémon Trainers, and everyone alike.
So, as he and his group were strolling in the plaza, Rico pulled out his smartphone and began taking a couple of pictures of the place. Jonathan and Edward finally breathed in the fresh air the place had. Their Pokémon teams then finally able to run around in the open spaces but were careful not to do any damage or hurt anyone along the way. Rico and his group made sure to keep an eye on them while exploring around and playing some games at the gaming stalls. A bit later, while Rico was sitting on a concrete bench writing in his journal, Riolu and Starly were training their Pokémon moves. Riolu focused on its Focus Blast and Quick Attack while Starly focused on its Gust and Air Cutter. Then, both of them saw each other's determination. Riolu asked Starly what drove it so hard to train. Starly then responded with a short backstory of it with its fellow Starlys before and during the storm in Kawayan City and how that inspired it to train hard to withstand any attack or disaster. Riolu was stunned and in turn, revealed to Starly about its backstory of being a regular, wild Riolu living in a cave in Mount Soratas before coming out and getting almost caught by Red Eye and his team of Pokémon Pinchers. Starly was stunned even more and now realized that it and Riolu had something in common: both of them were struck by adversaries but were saved by Rico and became his Pokémon afterwards. So, both of them were happy to each other for having that commonality and were determined to train hard to beat those who were in their way in their journey. Rico saw that and was confused at first by their intense training but was happy for them, before resuming his writing work.
