Chapter 82: Chapter 82 - Commonality between Rico and Edward

Third person POV

Later after dinner, while Jonathan, Juan, and their Pokémon Oshawott and Greninja are washing the dishes and cleaning the table, Campillo led Rico and his Pokémon team to their new room while in their stay in Kamias City. The room was nice, and it had two beds, one for Rico and one for Jonathan. There is enough room for all of Rico's Pokémon, plus some for Jonathan's. The wall was painted white and brown, and the room had wooden furniture. The room was a guestroom in the house.

"Woah…finally!" Rico was excited to unwind and relax, before putting his backpack on the nightstand and lying down on the comfy bed.

Riolu and Starly then followed soon, and Rico grabbed all of his Poké Balls and opened them. "Come out, everybody!"

All of his Pokémon then came out of their Poké Balls with positivity.

"Everyone, we're here in Kamias City," Rico said to them positively, before pulling out his phone to share a photo of him and his older brother and friends in the Book Festival in Galen City this morning. "Let's unwind and relax for the night."

When his Pokémon team saw it, they were amazed and gave their Trainer good compliments for doing such a good job in the competition.

"Yeah, thanks, you guys," Rico replied back while being a bit overwhelmed by their compliments.

Campillo was stunned to see that Rico's Piplup is now a Prinplup. "Woah, Rico-kun, did your Piplup just evolve into a Prinplup? When that happened?"

Edward then came to the scene, only to be stunned at Prinplup.

Rico heard that and looked at them. "Oh, yes, Piplup did. It happened at the Enrique Mountains during a battle with someone who had some sort of connection with Red Eye."

Prinplup then responded with good pride.

 "Red Eye…" Campillo responded.

Edward then began to think about Blue Eye's identity and association with Red Eye, as well as Red Eye's identity and association, too.

"Yes, I mean, she had the same vehicle as Red Eye's," Rico responded back with a theory.

Riolu nodded while remembering the time it almost got caught by Red Eye and his team, as well as the times Rico fought them.

"Well, that can be a possibility…" Edward replied back with partial agreement.

Campillo and his Emolga then nodded with the same partial agreement.

 "Yeah…" Rico responded back.

"But let's relax for now," Edward replied in breaking the topic.

Rico and his team eventually agreed with him.

Not long after, while waiting for Jonathan to come out of the bathroom, Rico was journaling in his notebook journal when Edward sat on his bed to talk to him. The topic is about Absol, but it will be about Rico's Absol. "Hey, Rico…" Edward said to him, "...can we talk for a bit?"

Rico heard that and looked at him. "Oh, sure, why not? About what?"

"I saw an Absol in your team," Edward replied back. "Is that yours?"

"Yes, that one is mine. Why?"

"Well, do you know that Absols were highly regarded and respected for their predicting of disasters that will help the humans to be prepared against those foreseen disasters?"

"Yes, I know that back in Pokémon school."

"And how about the fact that those Absols were always best companions for salamangkeros?"

 "Yes, I know that, too."

"Okay, good, well…you're not a salamangkero yourself, right?"

"No, I am not. Here's how I had that Absol of mine."

Rico then narrated to Edward the time he met and caught Absol and how one disaster had made Absol deemed him worthy to be its Trainer in end.

A few minutes later, Edward was shocked and considered what Rico did at that time as dangerous. But he commended Rico for his heroism and bravery of rescuing a bunch of Starlys at that time. "Yeah, thanks a lot, Edward-san," Rico replied back while being a bit overwhelmed by his compliments. His Pokémon team then responded with good pride because of their Trainer.

"Yes, you're a brave boy after all," Edward happily responded back, "also, I also had an Absol, too."

He then called his Absol, and it came out of its Poké Ball, much to Rico and his team's amazement.

"Woah, you have one, too?" Rico commented. "How?"

"Well, my late grandfather passed that one to me before he died," replied Edward back with some melancholic look on his face because of his good times with his late grandfather, who was a salamangkero.

"Oh, so yours was just passed down from someone else?" Rico responded back.

Edward then nodded. "Yes. Now we had something in common: we had Absols but we were not salamangkeros."

"Yup!" Rico happily agreed with him.
