But, the rising smoke in the distance caught the attention of Lucas, who, upon seeing it, got alerted that his son might be in trouble, get into his car, and drove towards the Soratas Village.

3 minutes later, Lucas arrived at the said village, get off his car, and ran towards Rico and Dawn, giving Rico a hug whilst asking him what happened and if he was okay.

"Dad!" Rico responded to this. "I'm fine. A bunch of Pokémon thieves just attacked us."

"Excuse me, are you his father?" Dawn asked Lucas in concern.

"Yes, I am this kid's father," answered Lucas back upon noticing her.

"Oh, I see then."

Once Lucas discharged from hugging, Rico said to him positively with a bit of enthusiasm, "Dad, I just won my first Pokémon battle.

"Wow, really?" replied Lucas back.

"Yeah, with Riolu," Rico responded back with confidence. He, Lucas, and Dawn then looked at Riolu, who was resting after the battle, in the distance.

After glancing Riolu for a couple of seconds, Rico turned towards Lucas and said to him, "You know, dad, I wanted to be a Pokémon Trainer."

Dawn then nodded in agreement. "Then use the Poké Ball I give to you."

"Oh, right!" Rico realized it now, before getting the Poké Ball from his bag. He then walked towards Riolu and asked it, "So, Riolu, do you want me to be your Trainer?"

Looking at Rico for a few seconds, Riolu smiled at him, and responded back happily, "Rio-lu!"

With that, Rico backed a few meters away, and threw the Poké Ball towards Riolu whilst yelling, "Go, Poké Ball!"

The Poké Ball then hit Riolu, causing it to open and catching Riolu into it, before automatically closing it and fell to the ground. Rico then waited for Riolu to be intacted inside the Poké Ball. And then, after a couple of seconds, Riolu was successfully intacted inside of the Poké Ball. Having caught his first Pokémon, Rico ran towards the Poké Ball, picked it up, and raised it up to the air whilst shouting, "Yeah! I just caught a Riolu!" And thus, another important milestone has been set in Rico's path.
