Chapter 17: Chapter 17 - At the Pokémon Center

Later at the city's big Pokémon Center, as they are waiting for their Pokémon to be healed up, Rico and Juan are writing about their day in their journals while sitting on a sofa. The atmosphere around them was calming and quiet, as if the Pokémon Center wasn't that busy at all.

"Man, Kolen was so strong," Juan commented to Rico.

"Yeah, me too as well," Rico responded back. "I didn't expect that he was that strong."

"That what Gym Leaders are!"

Making a line using a red highlighter, Rico replied back, "You're right." Rico then switched his highlighter to his blue gel pen and made a few doodles all over the two-page of his journal.

"Wow, Rico, you're getting more and more creative," Juan commented Rico's artist-style skills.

"Thanks," Rico happily responded back. "My skills are improving."

Then, suddenly, they heard a sound from Nurse Joy's desk, and Rico and Juan stood up and went towards Nurse Joy's desk to pick up their Pokémon.

"Your Pokémon are all healed up," Nurse Joy happily informed them.

Picking his Poké Ball, and put it in his Pokébelt , Rico gratefully and politely responded back, "Thank you so much." Juan then picked up his Poké Ball and put it in his Pokébelt, before saying thank you to Nurse Joy.

"You're welcome," Nurse Joy said to him and Rico while making a little bow. "Please come again."

With that, Rico and Juan left the Pokémon Center, only to be surprised that it was already after sundown.

"What the…? It's already nighttime?" Rico commented to this. "Let's go home, Juan!"

Juan then seriously nodded in agreement, and he and Rico then ran across the street and to a footbridge above a busy highway. And on that footbridge, they both reverted back to normal, walking speed. Rico stuffed his hands into his pants pockets as his shoulder bag hung from his left shoulder.

"I'm worried that mom and dad will be upset for being late," Rico expressed his worries to Juan.

"Me too as well," agreed Juan back. "But I hoped they'll understand what we have been doing last time."

"Yeah, you're right. Thanks."

They then descended down the stairs, and on the streets. But then, Lucas, while driving home from work, noticed them walking, and immediately pulled over, opening the car window down and greeted them good evening.

Upon noticing him, Rico responded back, "Oh, good evening, dad, sorry for being late."

"It's okay, son," Lucas forgave him in response. "I know you had training this afternoon after school."

Stunned by this fact, Juan asked, "What? But, how?"

Smiling at him and Rico, Lucas replied back, "Kolen is my close friend."

"Oh, I see then," Rico responded back.

"So, need a ride home?" Lucas offered them a ride.

Nodding to say yes, Rico replied back positively, "Sure, thanks." Then to Juan, "How about you, Juan? Do you need a ride?"

"Yes, thanks," Juan accepted it. He and Rico then get into the car. And they all drove off, concluding the night's events.
