Pokémon Kyanite and Copper (Revised Version)

Shortly thereafter, they are the battle field; their Pokémon are: Riolu and Oshawott versus Leafeon and Carnivine, another Grass-type Pokémon. It was a double battle.

And as Kolen's students watch them battle, Rico, upon seeing Kolen's Pokémon, was a bit stunned, asking in his mind, "Who are those Pokémon?"

He then pulled out his Pokédex, and pointed it towards Leafeon; his Pokédex then responded, "Leafeon, the Verdant Pokémon, and an evolved form of Eevee. A Grass-type. Just like a plant, it uses photosynthesis. As a result, it is always enveloped in clear air."

"Woah, that's amazing," Rico commented in mild surprise.

He then shifted his Pokédex towards Carnivine; his Pokédex then responded, "Carnivine, the Bug Catcher Pokémon. A Grass-type. It attracts prey with its sweet-smelling saliva, then chomps down. It takes a whole day to eat prey."

"What the…?" Rico commented in mild surprise. He then put his Pokédex back in his shoulder bag and faced Kolen and his team with Juan.

"Let's do this," Kolen said to them in cool seriousness. Then to his two Pokémon, "Alright, Leafeon, use Razor Leaf! And Carnivine, use Power Whip!"

Leafeon then used Razor Leaf, launching sharp-edhed leaves to slash Oshawott, and Carnivine used Power Whip, violently whirling its vines to harshly lash Riolu.

"Quickly, Riolu, dodge it!" Rico commanded Riolu quickly and seriously.

"Oshawott, use Razor Shell!" Juan commanded Oshawott.

Riolu then dodged Carnivine's attacks, and Rico commanded Riolu, "Then use Focus Blast!"

Riolu then used Focus Blast, heightening its mental focus and unleashes its power, striking Carnivine with minimum power. Carnivine then almost collapsed to the ground, but get up immediately.

Oshawott then used Razor Shell, cutting Leafeon's attacks with its sharp shell.

Watching his Leafeon's attacks getting cut, Kolen commented, "Wow, it seems that Oshawott had learned Razor Shell."

"Yeah," responded Juan in cool seriousness. "It just learned that yesterday."

Oshawott then responded in cool seriousness.

"Alright then," Kolen replied back. "Leafeon, use Magical Leaf!"

Leafeon then used Magical Leaf, scattering curious leaves that chase Oshawott.

"Watch out, Oshawott!" Juan tried to warn Oshawott. But it was too late; Oshawott didn't noticed it right away, and got struck by Magical Leaf. It then collapsed to the ground, almost defeated.

"Woah, Oshawott, are you okay?" Juan asked it in response.

Oshawott then responded in pain.

Looking at Rico, Juan said to him, "Um, Rico, I'm almost out. You're on your own now."

This causes Rico to gulp in fear, thinking in his mind, "This is gonna be not easy." But he went serious and continue thinking, "But nevermind that. I'll just do my best." Then to Riolu, "Riolu, use Quick Attack!"

Riolu then used Quick Attack, charging at Carnivine at a fast pace.

"Then use Karate Chop!" Rico commanded Riolu seriously.

Riolu then used Karate Chop, attacking Carnivine with a sharp chop, striking it with minimum damage. But it didn't affected Carnivine entirely, and it snapped out immediately.

"Quickly, use Vine Whip!" Kolen commanded Carnivine seriously.

Carnivine then used Vine Whip on Riolu, striking with slender, whiplike vines.

"Riolu, watch out!" Rico tried to warn Riolu. But, it was too late; Riolu got struck by Vine Whip and was almost defeated by it.

"Riolu!" Rico said in response to this.

But Riolu managed to get up and used Focus Blast, heightening its mental focus and unleashes its power, striking Carnivine with minimum damage. But still, it didn't affected Carnivine at all, and it snapped out immediately after being hit.

"Again, use Vine Whip!" Kolen commanded Carnivine again.

Carnivine then used Vine Whip, striking Riolu with slender whiplike vines, and it inflicted Riolu real hard and it got defeated by it then.

"Riolu is unable to battle," the referee announced. "Carnivine wins."

"Oh, no," Rico commented in mild despair. He then called Riolu back, and said to Juan, "Well, Juan, you're on your own for now."

"Oh, this is gonna be hard," responded Juan back. Then to Oshawott in seriousness, "Oshawott, use Water Gun!"

Getting up, Oshawott used Water Gun, blasting Leafeon with a forceful shot of water, striking Leafeon with no damage whatsoever.

This stuns Juan a bit, and Leafeon shook itself up, and Kolen commanded it, "Again, use Magical Leaf!"

Leafeon then used Magical Leaf, scattering curious leaves that chase Oshawott, striking Oshawott with great effectiveness. As a result, Oshawott got defeated by it then.

"Oshawott is unable to battle," the referee announced, "Leafeon wins, and the winner is Kolen."

Kolen then mildly smiled at them without any pride.

Calling his Oshawott, Juan said to it, "I guessed you did your best. You deserved some rest."

He then put his Poké Ball in his Pokébelt and said to Kolen, "It's okay, Kolen, we did our best."

"Yeah, we had a lot to learn," Rico added positively. "After all, we are just starting."

"Good," Kolen agreed with them, "you two should train more until you two are stronger than before."

"Thanks," Rico responded back. He and Juan then left the gym and to the city's Pokémon Center. It was a massive defeat for them, but they are still learning.
