Pokémon Farming Story

Chapter 5: Chapter 5:Trainers and Fishermen Are One and the Same

In the woods, two groups of Pokémon were facing off against each other.

Not far away, Natsume was secretly observing with his Pokémon.

"Chirp chirp."

As the native of the farm, Sandshrew was explaining the situation to Natsume.

In simple terms, the resources in this area of the woods were relatively more abundant compared to other places.

Thus, these two groups had been vying for the ownership of the forest.

This was quite normal for wild Pokémon.

Whether it was for berries or shelter, strength was needed to compete.

"I see."

Rubbing Sandshrew's head, Natsume continued to observe the two groups.

While they were referred to as groups, it was more accurate to think of them as two Pokémon families in conflict.

On the left were two Mightyena accompanied by three Poochyena, which looked like the two Mightyena were a couple.

On the right was a Linoone with five Zigzagoon, which appeared to be a single-parent family.

As Natsume was watching the two families, they also noticed him.

At this distance, both Mightyena and Linoone could hardly be bothered by his presence.

"Roar!"

The leading Mightyena turned its head and let out a loud growl at Natsume.

Its deep voice sounded filled with hostility and aggression.

'This is our territory! Get out of here!'

For the Mightyena family, the entire woods belonged to them.

Both the opposing Linoone and the human intruder were outsiders.

On the other side, the Linoone completely ignored Natsume's presence.

It seemed there was no way to communicate with either the Mightyena or the Linoone.

"Roar!"

Once again, the leading Mightyena urged Natsume to leave with its growl.

The nearby Poochyena glared angrily at Natsume.

Meanwhile, the Zigzagoon across the way started to become restless.

Zigzagoon were naturally energetic and fidgety Pokémon.

If Natsume made any overly aggressive moves at this moment, he could become the target of both sides' ire.

"This won't do."

Standing up, Natsume remained neutral towards both groups' attitudes.

What do you mean, your territory?

This is my territory.

"Persian."

As soon as Natsume's voice fell, the eager Persian dashed forward.

In a way, Persian and this group of Mightyena were quite similar.

Both regarded this area of woods as their domain.

To be precise, the entire farm was its territory.

A white light shimmered from Persian's body; it was in the state of Agility.

In this state, Persian moved like a bolt of light.

In an instant, it shot in between both groups.

Raising its front paw, sharp claws glimmered like a dagger, reflecting a chilling gleam in the sunlight.

Fake Out!

The priority move in Persian's quick hands became an almost guaranteed first strike.

Bang!

A muffled sound echoed.

Persian's claw struck the leading Mightyena on the head.

In that instant, Mightyena felt as though the world had slowed down immensely.

The scenery before it began to twist little by little.

Its thoughts drifted away, and its mind gradually blanked.

It was like returning to the days spent inside the egg.

The next second, the leading Mightyena was sent flying like a kite with a broken string.

After crashing into a tree trunk, it paused for a second before slowly sliding to the ground, having already lost its battle capability.

If there were a slow-motion camera, one would be able to see the gradual deformation of Mightyena's head in that moment.

But at that point, no one was paying attention to that Mightyena.

At this moment, Persian transformed into a streak of light, continuously darting between the Mightyena family and the Linoone family.

With each pass, a Pokémon would be sent sprawling backward.

The scene resembled a moment from the movie *Die Hard*.

It wasn't that no Pokémon tried to fight back against Persian.

However, most attacks were dodged by Persian effortlessly.

Even those who managed to get close to Persian found themselves incapacitated in the next moment.

"Ulee."

A blue light representing psychic powers flickered.

Butterfree, stationed by Natsume's side, kept a close watch on the battle.

"Ka ka!"

The scene before Rookidee filled it with excitement.

It could hardly contain the urge to rush out and engage in an exhilarating battle.

And indeed, it did make that move.

However, knowing Rookidee's temperament well, Natsume had anticipated this.

He reached out and gently pulled Rookidee down.

"It's still too early for you."

Holding Rookidee in his arms, Natsume gently patted its head to calm its emotions.

Since Natsume had said so, Rookidee could only stay obediently.

But its frustrated feelings were evident.

I can't let this be the end; I need to think of a way to convince Natsume to let me battle.

Rookidee fell into deep thought.

In less than half a minute, the only Pokémon left standing in the woods was Persian.

After stopping, Persian licked its paws and then sauntered back to Natsume with a lazy gait.

It seemed that the recent battle was hardly worth its concern.

It could barely be considered a morning workout.

"Now we can have a proper conversation."

Natsume crouched down beside the fallen Linoone and Mightyena, looking into the eyes of both Pokémon.

The Mightyena and Linoone on the ground stared at each other.

A proper conversation?

What would they discuss?

The insights from being defeated by you?

However, both Pokémon chose to remain silent in unison.

"I'm Natsume, the new farm owner here."

"In simple terms, this land is all mine."

Upon hearing this, Linoone and Mightyena exchanged glances.

Does this mean they want us to leave?

"As long as you are willing to join my farm, you can live here."

"But no destruction, no fighting, and no randomly attacking passersby."

"You will need to help take care of and maintain the farm."

"Is that acceptable?"

Seeing their inner doubts, Natsume explained.

He did not plan to clear out all the Pokémon from the farm.

After all, the farm was so large.

It would be impossible for him alone, even with Persian and the other three, to manage everything.

Even with the newly captured Sandshrew, the areas he could oversee would be extremely limited.

Rather than that, it made more sense to capture the resident Pokémon already living on the farm.

While Natsume spoke, the Pokémon that had been knocked down by Persian slowly returned to their senses.

This included the Mightyena that had been swatted away by Persian at the beginning.

After a discussion among the two groups, they ultimately decided to agree to Natsume's terms.

"Since that's the case, then come on in."

Reaching into his small backpack, Natsume pulled out a bunch of Poké Balls and explained, "Many trainers may pass through the farm in the future."

"If you don't join us, you might be captured as regular wild Pokémon."

Although this small town was somewhat remote and had inconvenient transportation, trainers were like anglers.

One searches the world for undeveloped fishing spots, while the other seeks out remote areas to capture Pokémon and treasure hunt.
