Pokémon Farming Story

Chapter 3: Chapter 3: Abstraction is a Talent

"You mean a Pokémon was watching us while we were cleaning?"

Dressed in an apron, with sleeves rolled up and a mask on his face, Natsume looked surprised at Rookidee.

"Ka ka ka!!"

Rookidee in the air nodded repeatedly.

Flapping its wings, it gestured a few times to illustrate what it had seen.

"Was it over there in the bushes?"

"Ka ka!"

"Oh, it looks to be about your size."

Thus, one person and one Pokémon communicated effortlessly.

As a transmigrant of the new era, having a bit of a golden finger was normal.

While Natsume didn't have a silly system to turn into a waifu or any impressively handsome abilities, he had once glimpsed a Pokémon when he first arrived in this world.

It was an entity once revered as the Almighty of Creation.

Alpaca (crossed out)

The Creator God - Arceus.

In a daze, Natsume felt as if he had been pulled into a special space.

In the vast starry sky, Arceus's figure was strikingly radiant.

Those cyan-green eyes quietly gazed at Natsume.

What happened afterward, Natsume couldn't recall.

When he woke up, he found that his world had undergone some changes.

He could understand the meanings behind Pokémon cries.

By concentrating and focusing on a Pokémon, he could see detailed information about it.

His mind had been flooded with knowledge that he couldn't comprehend at the time.

Additionally, he felt a surge of power similar to the aura strength and constant power within him.

Natsume understood all these changes as a blessing from Arceus.

Thinking this way made things feel more reasonable and put him at ease.

"Ka ka ka!"

Rookidee landed and used one of its claws to scratch some marks on the ground.

It intended to convey some information to Natsume.

But...

"I can't understand that either."

Faced with Rookidee's expression, Natsume showed a troubled look.

He could grasp what Rookidee was trying to say, but the information was indeed quite abstract.

What did it mean by "walking on two legs like you, but with a green head"?

Could it be that the Pokémon it saw watching was from the Ralts family?

However, when Natsume asked Rookidee if that Pokémon's body was white, he received a negative response.

As for the patterns drawn by Rookidee on the ground, Natsume admitted he couldn't decipher them.

One could say abstraction was also a kind of talent.

Much like an old veteran.

"Well, let's not worry about that Pokémon for now."

"Rookidee, go check on the berry grove and remember to stay safe!"

Natsume gently patted Rookidee on the head with his gloved hand and turned back to continue his cleaning work.

Before starting the cleaning, Natsume checked the water and electricity in the house.

Overall, everything was functional, making the cleaning process much easier.

While the design of this two-story villa was quite comfortable to live in, cleaning it was truly a chore.

This was especially true without any Psychic-type Pokémon.

Although he had made Butterfree learn Confusion during training with future development in mind, it still wasn't a Psychic-type Pokémon.

It could only manage simple lifting tasks, which was the limit of its abilities.

More intricate operations were tasks suited for Psychic-type Pokémon.

The sun hung overhead, gradually tilting toward the west as the horizon took on a yellow hue.

Thanks to the efforts of Natsume and Butterfree, the interior of the two-story building had shed its earlier desolate appearance.

"Thank you for your hard work."

After removing his gloves and mask, Natsume pulled out a small box from his pocket.

Upon opening it, a collection of glistening Pokéblocks was revealed. He poured two out and handed them to Butterfree.

Upon seeing the Pokéblocks, Butterfree's compound eyes brightened noticeably.

Excitedly, it began munching on the Pokéblocks.

These Pokéblocks were made by Natsume himself, adjusted from the original recipe to suit his Pokémon's tastes.

Hmm, once again, he was grateful for Arceus's gifts.

It wasn't until he started school that he understood the vast knowledge he had received, which included numerous recipes and techniques for making Pokéblocks.

With this knowledge, Natsume could live quite comfortably even if he focused solely on making Pokéblocks.

Although he didn't quite understand why Arceus bestowed such knowledge upon him, he still thanked the great creator once more.

Once the farm was initially planned out, he'd like to set up an altar for Arceus.

He wondered what kind of things Arceus liked.

Did it appreciate that kind of two-dimensional, otaku-style setup, where the lights and sound effects automatically turned on when one approached, playing the start dash theme?

Hmm...

It was probably best to think about that later.

"Thanks for your hard work, Persian."

As Natsume reached the door, he patted Persian on the head.

Persian affectionately nudged its head against Natsume's hand, rubbing from its forehead all the way to its chin.

A soothing purring sound rumbled from its throat.

While petting Persian, Natsume was flipping through his contacts on his phone.

"Ah, found it."

After locating a number labeled 'Moving Company', he dialed it.

Before coming, Natsume had already contacted the moving company and sent them the location of the town.

After some communication, the moving company confirmed they would deliver Natsume's belongings to the farm each morning.

"That should just about cover it."

"Then there's also the farm repairs and the initial products to sort out."

Since he had just finished cleaning, many areas of the house were still a bit damp.

Natsume chose to sit down on the ground at the door with Persian and Butterfree.

He was searching on his phone for suitable construction companies based on the list in his notebook.

The notebook contained tasks Natsume deemed necessary after doing a preliminary scan of the farm.

Next to the line for "cleaning," he had marked a small check.

"So today and tomorrow's tasks are to set up the house."

"Contact a construction company to begin repairs on the farm and replan some areas."

"And also to greet our neighbors."

With a snap, he closed the notebook and smiled at Butterfree and Persian beside him.

"Ulee."

Butterfree, now on the ground, softly responded to Natsume.

Its wings fluttered gently behind it.

Persian, on the other hand, did not react much, though its tail swished a little faster, brushing against the ground with a rhythmic thump.

"Ka ka!"

A call from Rookidee echoed in the sky.

"It seems our lookout has completed its task."

Brushing off the dust from his backside, Natsume stood up and stretched.

Being young felt great.

After the thorough cleaning, he still had plenty of energy.

If this had been his previous, exhausted self as a corporate worker, he wouldn't even have managed the cleaning; just sitting at his desk each day would have depleted all his energy.
