Doflamingo stood before Ain, his anger seething beneath his composed facade.
The crowd around them thickened, curious onlookers gathering to witness the brewing confrontation.
Anyone familiar with the dark underbelly of the Chambord Archipelago instantly recognized Doflamingo. He was no ordinary pirate—he was the JOKER of the underground world, a man who commanded power and fear across both the Grand Line and the New World.
In contrast, Ain, standing firm in her Marine uniform, was an unfamiliar face. To the bystanders, she was just another insignificant Marine who had stumbled into a situation far beyond her control.
"This woman's pretty, but her brains seem lacking," muttered one spectator.
"She must have a death wish, challenging Donquixote Doflamingo like that," replied another.
"Does she even realize who she's dealing with? Doflamingo's influence stretches across the entire New World!"
The whispers around her grew louder, but Ain's resolve didn't waver. Her gaze locked onto Doflamingo, unwavering and righteous.
"I don't care who you are," she declared firmly, her voice cutting through the murmurs. "You stand before me as a criminal, and I will bring you to justice!"
Doflamingo's lips curled into a chilling grin.
"Fufufufu… the funniest joke I've heard in a while. You? Bring me to justice? That's rich. I was in a bad mood, but maybe killing you will brighten my day—"
Before he could finish his taunt, a voice rang out from the crowd, cutting him off.
"Doflamingo, this is the Chambord Archipelago. Attacking a Marine here will bring consequences you can't ignore!"
A man stepped forward, his pink floral shirt standing out amidst the crowd.
Ain's eyes widened. "Binz! Why are you here?"
Binz stepped between Ain and Doflamingo, shielding her. "I was reassigned here by Master Zef—coincidentally, I'm on duty today."
His sharp gaze didn't leave Doflamingo for a second.
The veins on Doflamingo's forehead bulged in frustration. "Ah… I see that look in your eyes. Hatred. Let me guess—you've got a tragic little grudge against me. Your parents, perhaps? Am I right?"
Binz's jaw clenched, and he forced himself to remain composed.
"Ten years ago, on my birthday, you and your so-called 'family' raided our island. You slaughtered everyone—my parents, my neighbors, everyone I cared about. I was the only one left alive."
Doflamingo laughed coldly.
"Fufufufu… tragic, isn't it? And yet, it wasn't exactly a unique occurrence. So, why don't you go join them?"
Before Binz could react, Doflamingo moved with lightning speed, closing the distance between them. In an instant, Binz felt an agonizing blow to his abdomen, knocking the wind out of him.
"You hate me, don't you?" Doflamingo sneered, watching Binz struggle to stay on his feet. "Too bad your hatred can't give you strength."
With a flick of his wrist, razor-sharp threads formed at Doflamingo's fingertips, glinting ominously in the light. "The weak don't get to survive in this world."
As Doflamingo prepared to deliver the finishing blow, Ain acted swiftly, slashing at him with her sword.
"Do you think this will stop me? Bullet String!"
Doflamingo fired his threads like projectiles, their speed and power easily cutting through Ain's attack.
Her slash dissipated, but the threads continued their deadly trajectory toward her. Ain's instincts screamed at her to dodge, but the crowd of civilians behind her left her no choice. She closed her eyes, bracing for the inevitable.
But the blow never came.
A deafening crack echoed through the air. Ain opened her eyes to see a familiar figure standing before her.
It was Roja, his Justice Cloak billowing slightly as he crushed Doflamingo's threads with a single, haki-imbued hand.
The sudden appearance of the Marine Admiral left the crowd stunned.
Roja turned to face Doflamingo, his expression calm, a faint smile playing on his lips. But that smile carried a weight of authority and danger that silenced the onlookers.
"First time meeting, Donquixote Doflamingo," Roja said evenly, his voice laced with an undertone of warning.
Doflamingo's trademark grin faltered slightly. "Fufufufu… Admiral Roja, what an unexpected surprise."
Doflamingo's calculating mind raced. The calm yet overwhelming presence of the admiral in front of him was unnerving.
"Bai Ge," Doflamingo began cautiously, using Roja's epithet, "I'm only here for what's mine. Hand over my slave, and I'll act like this never happened."
Roja's calm demeanor didn't change, but his words carried a sharp edge. "Pretend nothing happened? Funny… because I heard you say something about the strong preying on the weak. By your logic, you're weak, and I'm strong. So, shouldn't you be the one to die here?"
The color drained from Doflamingo's face. Roja had just turned his own words against him, and the threat in his voice was palpable.
The tension in the air grew thick as sweat beaded on the foreheads of the bystanders.
"Why do I feel like something terrible is about to happen?" whispered one spectator.
"Yeah… we should probably step back," another murmured.
The crowd began to retreat cautiously, sensing that a battle between these two titans was inevitable.
And then…
To be continued...
