Hearing noises from outside, Shakky sighed internally.
"Of all days to come back early, it had to be today. Was that intentional?"
Resigning to the situation, Shakky dropped her pretense. She gestured toward the white-haired old man who had just entered the bar.
"This is Silvers Rayleigh, the Dark King. Talk to him if you need something."
With that, she lit a cigarette and leaned back, exhaling smoke leisurely.
Roja turned to face Rayleigh, observing the silver-haired old man carefully. Rayleigh's long, curly hair and chin-length beard were entirely gray, marked by a long scar across his right eye. Despite his age, there was a striking vitality to him—a rugged strength paired with a warm and approachable demeanor.
Rayleigh set down the tools in his hand and met Roja's gaze with a smile.
"Well, well, Admiral White Dove. What business does the Navy's rising star have with an old pirate like me? Don't tell me you're here to arrest me," Rayleigh teased.
Roja grinned faintly.
"If I were here to arrest you, it wouldn't just be me. Besides, I doubt anyone else in the Navy even knows that the Dark King is working as a humble coating craftsman on Sabaody Archipelago."
Rayleigh chuckled, his curiosity piqued.
"Then why are you here? Surely, it's not just for casual conversation."
"Of course not. Let me cut to the chase. I need you to coat my ship—and it needs to be done in one day."
Rayleigh raised an eyebrow in mild surprise.
"That's it? That's all you need?"
"What else did you think I came for?" Roja quipped, his tone light but unwavering.
Rayleigh scrutinized Roja's expression, trying to discern his true intentions, but the Admiral's calm confidence gave nothing away.
"Aren't you worried I might sabotage the coating and send you sinking to the depths of the sea? After all, we are enemies by nature," Rayleigh said with a sly smile.
"If you were the type to pull such tricks, you wouldn't be called the Dark King," Roja replied evenly.
Rayleigh's eyes briefly sharpened, but his seriousness quickly gave way to a hearty laugh.
"Shakky, pour our guest a drink. This one's on me," Rayleigh called out.
Shakky snorted, blowing out a puff of smoke.
"You've already racked up a tab of over 10,000 berries, Rayleigh. How exactly are you planning to pay for this one?"
Rayleigh waved dismissively.
"Come now, Shakky. You know coating a ship in just one day is a premium service."
Roja interjected with a grin.
"No worries. The Fleet Admiral's budget will cover it."
He took a seat beside Rayleigh, and the two began conversing amicably, their shared laughter filling the bar.
Sabaody Archipelago, Island No. 1
On the upper floor of the Human Auction House, Doflamingo stood by a window, his expression dark as he gazed down at the ongoing auctions. His entire demeanor radiated menace.
"Any updates on the operation?"
Trebol, standing nearby, responded nervously.
"No, Young Master. It's as if the Ope Ope no Mi vanished without a trace. We've found nothing."
Doflamingo clenched his fists, fury simmering just below the surface. Ever since the surgical fruit was stolen by that mysterious figure on Haiyan Island, he had been consumed with rage.
The loss had not only cost him a priceless treasure but also severely damaged his reputation in the underworld. The humiliation of being forced to retreat was an enduring stain on his pride.
"Keep investigating! I want every shred of information about that man and the organization he belongs to!"
Trebol nodded quickly.
"Understood, Young Master!"
Just as Trebol turned to leave, a group of Doflamingo's subordinates burst into the room, panic etched across their faces.
"Young Master! We've got trouble! One of the slaves we captured escaped—and a Navy officer intervened!"
Doflamingo's brow furrowed, his rage igniting further.
"A Navy officer? Explain."
"While we were transporting slaves through Area 1, one of them—a woman named Stella—managed to escape. She ran straight into a female Navy officer, and now all the slaves have been freed!"
Doflamingo's anger erupted.
"Incompetent fools!"
With a flick of his finger, he unleashed razor-sharp threads that sliced through the air, decapitating his hapless subordinates.
Blood splattered across the floor, pooling like a macabre fountain.
"Trebol, clean this mess up. We're going to see which Navy insect dares to meddle in my business!"
Elsewhere in Area 1
Ain knelt to help Stella to her feet, her katana gleaming as she cut through the shackles binding the freed slaves.
"Are you all right?" she asked, her voice steady but kind.
"We're fine. Thank you for saving us," Stella replied gratefully.
Ain nodded.
"This is our duty. I've heard of illegal activities like this running rampant in Sabaody, but to see slaves openly transported in broad daylight... it's unforgivable. I won't let this slide."
A chilling voice interrupted her.
"Oh? And who exactly do you think is unforgivable?"
Doflamingo's presence was oppressive as he stepped onto the scene, his signature smile twisted into a menacing grimace. The veins on his forehead throbbed with barely contained fury as his orange sunglasses glinted ominously.
Ain stood firm, her sword ready, as she shielded the freed slaves behind her.
"Criminals like you, who prey on others, will never be forgiven!"
With righteous determination, Ain launched herself toward Doflamingo, her blade cutting through the air in a brilliant arc.
