One Piece: My code name is Green Bull

Chapter 95: Face-to-Face with Roger

Seeing Jon block his attack, Barrett's eyes flashed with excitement, and he was about to strike again.

"Stop, Barrett."

But Roger suddenly shouted, stopping him in his tracks.

"Why, Captain?! He's a Marine—he's our enemy!"

Barrett halted his attack but looked extremely dissatisfied.

Had anyone else told him to stop, he wouldn't have listened.

Roger glared at him.

"We're not mindless killers. You're too bloodthirsty—if you don't learn to control yourself, you'll cause big trouble one day."

Roger was well aware of Barrett's flaws.

His talent was unmatched, the most monstrous Roger had ever seen at his age.

But his arrogance and bloodlust were dangerous.

If not for Roger's overwhelming strength, who knew how much trouble Barrett would have already caused?

He was like a double-edged sword—without careful control, he could turn on his own allies.

Roger then turned his attention to Jon.

"Your name is Josh, right? I've never seen an ability that controls plant growth before. Two years ago, you managed to manipulate the plants on my ship from such a great distance—I'm curious, how did you do that?"

Jon replied casually:

"Just a Devil Fruit ability."

Roger nodded.

"Makes sense. Back then, the Marine ship you were on was important enough for Garp to personally follow and protect. That means it wasn't an ordinary vessel, and you weren't just some random soldier, were you?"

"No, I'm just a regular Marine. If I were important, would I be in this situation right now?"

Jon denied it immediately.

He didn't know what Roger was planning, but denying everything seemed like the safest move.

Roger grinned.

"Then why are you here with these regular merchants? Could it be that you were in trouble?"

Jon's eyelid twitched.

Damn it, why does Roger act all carefree but seem so damn sharp?!

Roger then shrugged.

"Well, whatever the case, you're our prisoner now. Come on, get on our ship."

Roger's tone was polite, but Jon knew he had no choice.

Before leaving, he spoke a few words to Craig, then was escorted onto the Oro Jackson by the Roger Pirates.

As the Oro Jackson sailed away, Craig and his men finally felt a sense of relief.

But then, murmurs spread among the crew.

"Captain Craig, Josh was actually a Marine? That's insane!"

The realization of Jon's true identity was shocking to everyone.

Craig's expression was complicated.

He had always known Jon was unusual, but he never imagined he was a Marine.

But if Whitebeard had taken an interest in him, and now Roger's crew recognized him, then Jon clearly wasn't an ordinary Marine.

"But now that he's in Roger's hands… his fate doesn't look good."

Craig suddenly had a thought.

"Should we try to inform the Marines? Maybe they can rescue him..."

Roger stared at Jon, speaking in a relaxed but intriguing tone.

"You're a Marine. We're pirates. What do you think I should do with you?"

Jon answered without hesitation.

"To avoid unnecessary conflict, how about… you just let me go?"

The Roger Pirates burst into laughter at the bold suggestion.

One pirate even smirked and mocked him.

"Kid, are you serious right now?"

Jon shrugged and asked, "Then what do you plan to do with me?"

Roger grinned.

"That depends on how valuable you are. If you're worthless, we'll just kill you and be done with it. But if you have enough value, we might keep you alive a little longer. So tell me—are you valuable?"

Jon was speechless.

How the hell am I supposed to answer that?

Roger's thought process was impossible to predict.

Jon had no idea whether Roger was serious or just messing with him.

"Not answering? That must mean you're worthless. In that case…"

Suddenly, Roger pulled out a pistol.

Jon's heart skipped a beat, and he quickly spoke up.

"Wait!"

Roger raised an eyebrow.

"Got something to say?"

The surrounding pirates smirked, clearly amused.

Jon was furious inside—being toyed with by a group of pirates filled him with rage.

But there was nothing he could do.

His only priority was survival.

"I think I do have some value."

Jon knew his Devil Fruit ability was a potential bargaining chip.

If Roger wanted to trade him to the Marines, Sengoku and the others might agree to certain demands.

But revealing that was too risky—he had to think of something else.

What does Roger care about most at this point?

He needed to offer information that Roger couldn't ignore.

"You said you were just a regular Marine. What kind of 'regular Marine' has information worth bargaining for?"

Roger's interest was piqued.

Jon took a deep breath and decided to take a gamble.

"I may not be important, but I happen to know some secrets that you might find… interesting."

Roger's eyes narrowed slightly.

"Oh? And what kind of secret would make you think your life is worth sparing?"

The surrounding pirates also became curious.

Not only about what Jon knew, but about how he could stay so composed while negotiating with Gol D. Roger.

Jon smirked.

He knew Roger had taken the bait.

Sure, Roger was stronger than him.

But Jon knew things—and sometimes, knowledge was power.

As long as Roger believed he was valuable, Jon would have time to find a way to escape.

"How about the secret of the Final Island? Is that enough?"

The entire Roger Pirates crew froze.

Even Roger's expression changed.

For a moment, he and Rayleigh locked eyes—both of them visibly shocked.

Hearing the Final Island mentioned by a Marine was beyond comprehension.

"Kid, do you even understand what you're saying?" Roger's tone grew serious.

"Of course I do."

Jon knew this had to be convincing.

This was his best chance to stay alive.

If the information wasn't shocking enough, Roger might just kill him anyway.

After all, Roger was going to reach Laugh Tale soon.

Jon wasn't really revealing anything that Roger wouldn't eventually discover.

But at this moment, the mystery of the One Piece was Roger's greatest obsession.

And Jon was going to use that to his advantage.

"If you want to know more… we'll have to talk."
