Naruto: Tobirama Reborn, Invincible in the Ninja World

Chapter 14: Chapter 14: Conclusion

Contrary to expectation, there wasn't a flood of blood.

Yagyu Tetsu felt his blade sink into what seemed like cotton—no resistance at all.

Before his disbelieving eyes, the wound on Tobirama Senju's neck didn't bleed but instead scattered fragments of paper into the air.

"No… impossible! You're not… human?!"

Terror distorted Yagyu's face, and even his voice quivered audibly.

As a ninja with more than three decades of experience and countless beheadings to his name, this was the first time he had encountered such an unnatural phenomenon. His opponent was a living corpse!

"You talk too much," Tobirama said coldly.

With those words, he raised his claw-like fingers and seized Yagyu's head. A slight twist of his wrist followed, and the man's skull shattered like a watermelon, scattering red and white matter across the ground.

"Run!"

The remaining enemies, who had witnessed the horror, turned and fled at full speed. They had to report this critical information to their respective village leaders. If a Kage-level undead warrior roamed the battlefield, it could mean devastation for their ninja villages.

"You think you can escape now? Too late," Tobirama muttered, his expression hardening.

Having tested the regenerative capabilities of the Impure World Reincarnation, he was done toying with them. It was time to end this.

"Genjutsu: Bringer-of-Darkness Technique!"

A dark, silk-like veil spread outward from Tobirama, enveloping the area.

The retreating enemies quickly realized something was amiss. Their surroundings transformed into complete darkness. The impenetrable blackness robbed them of sight—hands outstretched, they couldn't see even their own fingers.

"Who's there?!"

"Crow, where are you?!"

"Genjutsu release!"

"Is this the Hokage's technique?!"

Voices rose in panic, echoing in the darkness. Yet, no answers came.

Even though some of them were only a few meters apart, they couldn't see or hear one another.

Terror crept into their hearts.

Slash.

Tobirama moved like a reaper in the dark, his blade carving crimson arcs through the void. One after another, his foes fell.

A few, realizing it was a genjutsu, resorted to self-inflicted pain in an attempt to break free. But it was futile.

The Bringer-of-Darkness Technique, developed to counter the Uchiha's Sharingan, was a sensory manipulation genjutsu that rendered its victims helpless. Even the Sharingan couldn't dispel it, let alone these lesser shinobi.

"Argh!"

One final scream echoed as Tobirama's blade felled the last of them.

"Is this… the power of a Kage?" the dying man croaked, blood pooling around him.

"No," Tobirama replied indifferently. "This is power beyond a Kage."

His ceremonial Hokage robes remained immaculate, not a single drop of blood staining them.

When Genma and his team rejoined Tobirama, they were greeted by a harrowing sight—a field littered with corpses. Their admiration for the Hokage soared to its zenith.

"What a truly formidable Hokage," one of them whispered, eyes burning with fervent respect.

In one fell swoop, Tobirama had annihilated an assassination squad composed of eleven jonin and twenty tokubetsu jonin.

"Hokage-sama, the battlefield has been cleared. We detected no further threats," one of the team reported.

Tobirama nodded calmly. This outcome didn't surprise him. If there was an internal plot against him, the perpetrators wouldn't have left any evidence behind, regardless of success or failure.

But did a lack of evidence mean he couldn't take action?

A cold glint flashed through Tobirama's eyes.

Originally, he had intended to deal with Konoha's internal traitors gradually—after all, time was on his side. But witnessing such brazen audacity changed his mind.

Once he returned, a thorough purge would begin.

"Have the bodies been stored?"

"Yes, they've been sealed within scrolls."

Several of the attackers had possessed kekkei genkai, making their corpses valuable even in death. Particularly noteworthy was the one who had used Storm Release—a clear indicator of his Kumogakure origins.

"The Raikage…" Tobirama thought silently. His predecessor had died during peace negotiations with the Raikage. Now, it seemed a reckoning for both old and new grudges was in order.

With that, Tobirama led his team onward, heading toward the capital of the Land of Fire.
