Naruto: Tobirama Reborn, Invincible in the Ninja World

Chapter 15: Chapter 15: The Daimyo and the Senju

"Well, well, well... quite impressive, isn't it? The younger brother of the God of Shinobi, and his strength doesn't seem to pale in comparison to his brother's," came a voice in a tone so androgynous it was hard to distinguish its intent.

A pale figure chuckled, its unsettling grin widening.

Black Zetsu, however, responded coldly, "In the end, he's nothing more than a slightly stronger mortal. Once Madara is revived, even Tobirama will be nothing but an ant in his presence."

"Ehh, I wonder... do you think strong people poop differently from normal folks? I'd love to see it—"

"Idiot..." Black Zetsu cut him off, his patience clearly at its limit. He ignored the nonsensical ramblings of White Zetsu and scanned the surroundings. "I didn't expect Tobirama Senju to retain the strength he had in life, even in this Impure World Reincarnation state. This could complicate our plans. I need to report back."

"Eh? We're not going to keep spying on the Hokage?" White Zetsu tilted his head in surprise.

"No need. With the precedent set by these fools, no one will dare target the Hokage for the time being. We have other matters to attend to. Stop wasting time."

Without waiting for a reply, Black Zetsu melted into a nearby tree and disappeared.

Hours Later

The journey passed without incident, and Tobirama's group finally reached the bustling capital of the Land of Fire.

Before them lay an expansive city, its dense and diverse architecture blending seamlessly with the vibrant energy of its streets. The noise of the crowd, the chatter of merchants, and the laughter of children filled the air, exuding an aura of prosperity.

Tobirama took a brief moment to survey the city before his sharp eyes caught sight of someone waiting to receive them.

"Hokage-sama, welcome, welcome! The daimyo has been eagerly awaiting your arrival," greeted the Land of Fire's minister with surprising enthusiasm.

"We ran into some minor trouble along the way, which caused a delay," Tobirama replied curtly, his voice steady.

The minister's expression shifted slightly, as though he could guess what that trouble entailed, but he merely smiled and guided them into the capital.

To Tobirama's surprise, the daimyo requested a private audience with him.

Seated in the daimyo's private quarters, Tobirama sifted through his predecessor's memories, unearthing the political intricacies woven into his clan's history. Questions he had from his past life began to find answers:

Why did the Senju clan, co-founders of Konohagakure alongside the Uchiha, fade into obscurity? Why were Tsunade and Nawaki seemingly the only remaining members of such a once-great lineage?

Within his memories, he uncovered the reasoning. After the founding of Konoha, his elder brother, Hashirama, had worked to merge the Senju into the village. Tobirama, ever the strategist, took this a step further, integrating parts of the clan into the Land of Fire's noble class.

He even arranged a marriage between Hashirama's son and the princess of the Land of Fire at the time, ensuring that the Senju's bloodline extended into the daimyo's lineage.

No wonder Tsunade bore the honorific "Hime." The current daimyo, by blood, was Tsunade's cousin, and technically, he should address Tobirama as "great-uncle."

"Hashirama... you truly were unparalleled," Tobirama thought to himself, both impressed and burdened by his brother's foresight.

As the daimyo entered, Tobirama was greeted by a figure whose appearance and mannerisms leaned heavily toward the effeminate. Though he knew better, he couldn't help but internally question whether this individual carried Senju blood.

"Tobirama-sama, it is an honor beyond words to see you again," the daimyo said, their voice trembling with emotion.

"If I recall correctly, your name is Fujiki, isn't it?" Tobirama asked, his expression neutral.

"Y-You remember my name! Oh, Tobirama-sama, this brings me such joy!" Fujiki's voice wavered, tears threatening to spill over.

Tobirama felt a chill run down his spine. He struggled to maintain his stoic demeanor in the face of such... dramatics.

"Ancestor, since your passing, Sarutobi Hiruzen took over as Hokage, and the Senju who remained in Konoha were sent on dangerous missions under the pretense of duty. Over time, they were eradicated... all but Tsunade."

Fujiki's sorrowful tale continued, his voice heavy with grief. "Even now, Sarutobi and Danzo covet the remnants of the Senju and have planted spies among the Twelve Guardian Ninja to monitor us. Ancestor, our plight is dire!"

Tobirama listened in silence, his mind racing. The actions of Hiruzen and Danzo painted a grim picture. If they could decimate the Uchiha, the Senju would certainly not be spared.

"I may have been too lenient with Hiruzen," Tobirama muttered under his breath.

Meeting Fujiki's teary gaze, he placed a firm hand on his shoulder.

"Rest assured, I will purge Konoha of its corruption. The Senju will not vanish from this world."

...

The Following Day

The formal meeting between Tobirama and the daimyo went smoothly. Both sides reached an accord without any hitches, further solidifying the Hokage's authority and the village's ties to the Land of Fire.

During his free time, Tobirama strolled through the capital, drawing more than a few curious stares due to the cracks on his Edo Tensei visage and his lifeless eyes.

He also met Kato Taku, the head of Konoha's stationed forces in the Land of Fire and a distant relative of Kato Dan. From him, Tobirama gleaned valuable information about the region's current state and policies enacted during the Third Hokage's era.

Time Passed Swiftly

With his mission accomplished, Tobirama prepared to return to Konoha. Along the way, he left Flying Thunder God markers at key locations, his ultimate goal being to one day cover the entire shinobi world with his seals, enabling him to travel anywhere instantly.

Accompanying him was a tall, slender emissary named Saito Shigemori, sent by the daimyo to witness the Hokage's formal succession ceremony.

Upon meeting Tobirama, Saito greeted him with a wide smile.

"Hokage-sama, the journey is long. Why not share this luxurious palanquin with me? It's quite comfortable."

Tobirama glanced at the ornately decorated palanquin but shook his head.

"I may be the Hokage, but I am still a shinobi. The journey may not be without peril, and such transportation is... impractical."

"With you here, who would dare attack us?" Saito quipped confidently.

Tobirama remained unmoved, his expression unreadable. Finally, with a shrug, Saito climbed into the palanquin, leaving Tobirama to lead the procession on foot as they set off toward Konoha.
