Chapter 117: Chapter 117: Recruiting the Akatsuki
"These two are dangerous individuals. Bringing them into Konoha just doesn't feel safe…"
Tsunade rubbed her chin, her tone laced with worry.
Beside her, Kakashi nodded in agreement. Every member of the Akatsuki was an infamous rogue ninja, far from being virtuous. Allowing them into the village could easily lead to unforeseen disasters.
Moreover, how could the fallen Konoha shinobi—killed by the Akatsuki—rest in peace knowing their killers were welcomed into the village? How could the families of the martyrs accept such a decision?
"There's no need to worry about that," Tobirama interjected calmly. "If we're talking about dangerous individuals, no one is more dangerous than Madara. As long as I'm here, there's nothing to fear."
Uchiha Madara glanced at him, then turned his head away without a word. Though unwilling to admit it, he had indeed lost to Tobirama.
"As for our fallen comrades…" Tobirama crouched down, examining the mutilated bodies of the Konoha border guards, and sighed as he pressed his fingers to his forehead.
"Preserve their bodies carefully. I will resurrect each one of them."
"Resurrect them?!"
Tsunade and Kakashi's eyes widened in shock, while Sasori's gleaming eyes showed his intrigue.
Initially, they had assumed Tobirama's promise of reviving the dead was merely a ploy to secure Sasori's loyalty to Konoha. But the steady confidence in Tobirama's voice now made them question their skepticism.
"Second Granduncle… is it really… really possible to bring the dead back to life?" Tsunade's voice trembled, her usually composed demeanor shattered as excitement coursed through her. The famed Sannin now looked more like an eager child.
If this were true, then… Nawaki, Hashirama—they could come back?!
Kakashi was similarly affected, his lips moving slightly beneath his mask, as though he had countless words he wished to say.
Rin, Obito, Minato-sensei, and Kushina… Could they all return to the living?
"Yes."
Noting their hopeful expressions, Tobirama could easily guess the thoughts running through their minds.
"That's… amazing!" Tsunade threw decorum aside and embraced Tobirama from behind, tears streaming down her face.
"However," Tobirama added, gently ruffling Tsunade's hair, "reviving the dead is no simple matter. It will take time."
"Of course!" Tsunade nodded furiously, her muffled voice barely coherent. The mere possibility of resurrection was a miracle worth waiting for.
"Obito…" Kakashi muttered, rubbing his eyes, which had become slightly wet. If he weren't a man, he might have thrown himself at Tobirama in gratitude.
Tobirama cast him a sidelong glance but said nothing. He refrained from mentioning that Obito was still alive, and that Minato and Kushina had died because of him.
"You two," Tobirama barked, glaring at Deidara and Sasori, who were standing idly, "get moving and gather the bodies of those you've killed!"
"Yes, Leader!" Deidara snapped out of his daze, grabbing Sasori and beginning to clean up the battlefield.
"Tsunade, Kakashi, keep an eye on them. Madara and I have something to take care of." Gently prying Tsunade off him, Tobirama gave his instructions.
"Understood!" the two responded in unison.
"Madara, let's go." Placing a hand on Madara's shoulder, Tobirama teleported them away.

Fire Country Eastern Border
Meanwhile, at the eastern border, Jiraiya and Might Guy's battle against Kisame Hoshigaki and Kakuzu was nearing its conclusion.
Or rather, the fight had been one-sided, with Kisame and Kakuzu being thoroughly outmatched.
Kisame, known for his massive chakra reserves and the chakra-devouring blade Samehada, found himself helpless. Jiraiya, in Sage Mode, used senjutsu infused with natural energy, rendering his chakra useless to Kisame.
As for Might Guy, the "weird guy in the bowl cut" Kisame had underestimated, he turned out to be a powerhouse of taijutsu, capable of unleashing fiery punches that evaporated Kisame's Water Release techniques.
Kisame's Akatsuki cloak was in tatters, his muscular body covered in wounds. Without Samehada's ability to heal him, he would have long since fallen.
Kakuzu fared no better. All four of his heart monsters had been destroyed by Guy's Morning Tiger, leaving him lying on the ground, barely alive.
"Surrender. Your comrade has already been defeated," Jiraiya said, his towering figure advancing toward Kisame. Inwardly, he couldn't help marveling at the intel provided by Tobirama.
If not for firsthand experience, Jiraiya would never have believed someone could survive with five hearts, each needing to be destroyed to kill them.
As for Kisame, the so-called "tailless beast," his abilities to absorb chakra with his sword and his sheer stamina had been astonishing.
Thanks to Tobirama's warning, Jiraiya had activated Sage Mode at the start of the battle, catching Kisame off guard. With Guy's overwhelming taijutsu, they had finally driven Kisame to the brink of defeat.
Flanked by Jiraiya and Guy, Kisame was cornered.
"What a pity," Kisame murmured, flashing a self-deprecating smile that revealed his shark-like teeth.
"It seems I won't get to see that perfect, false world. Perhaps death is the most fitting end for someone like me, with blood-stained hands…"
"Madara-sama… if your plan succeeds, please create that perfect world…"
Before Jiraiya and Guy could react, Kisame raised Samehada high, aiming to end his own life.
"Boom!"
A sudden kick sent Kisame flying to the ground, halting his action. At the same time, Kakuzu, who had been feigning death and attempting to escape, found himself face-to-face with a pair of blood-red Sharingan.
"Looks like we made it in time." Dusting off his robes, Tobirama appeared before the group.
"Hokage-sama!" Jiraiya and Guy quickly restrained Kisame, binding his limbs.
"Tobirama Senju!" Kisame roared, his eyes filled with fury. He knew all too well what awaited him in the hands of the enemy—every Akatsuki secret in his mind would likely be pried out.
"Kisame, why sacrifice yourself for a false plan?" Tobirama remarked, giving him a sympathetic look. Then, turning to Uchiha Madara, who was dragging a subdued Kakuzu behind him, Tobirama added, "Madara, meet one of your so-called followers."
"Followers?" Madara frowned in confusion but quickly realized the truth. Clearly, Obito had recruited subordinates under his name.
Faced with Madara himself, Kisame finally accepted the reality: the Moon's Eye Plan was dead. Resolute as ever, he pledged his loyalty to the real Madara, vowing to change the real shinobi world.
As for Kakuzu, Tobirama's strategic persuasion and promises led him to agree to serve as the first-ever Minister of Finance for Konoha.
With this, the remaining Akatsuki members—except for Konan and Obito—had all been recruited into Konoha.
