Chapter 34: 34. That Time When Uchiha Clan Almost Rebelled.
(We are doing amazing with Powerstones, keep them coming)
"Woah." Yumi could feel that this time, water wasn't as dominant as in Yukio's previous attempt at copying Ice Release.
"Is this Storm Release?" Yumi asked Yukio.
"Hmm, well, in a way, yes. In Storm Release, lightning is dominant. In this version, water is dominant, but it should still bear much similarity to Storm Release in that aspect. The only difference would be that its speed and penetrative power are less than Storm Release, but its flexibility and defence are higher," Yukio explained the difference.
He wasn't specializing in Lightning Release, so this was the best he could come up with.
"So, do you use this in combat?" Yumi asked. She had never seen him use it before.
"Not yet. It's not combat-ready. The material from the sword makes it easy for me to manifest this. Otherwise, it takes a long time to combine my chakra to create this kekkei genkai."
"I see," Yumi replied. It was her first time seeing someone without a bloodline create a kekkei genkai.
It motivated her to quickly master her own bloodline and maybe even improve it to a new level.
"Anyway, the second point is that you don't really need a specially created sword to use elemental coating," Yukio remarked, placing the scroll on the ground as lines of text spread out from it.
"Oh, so we could do it on any other sword?"
All the swords puffed out, indicating they had returned to the scroll.
"Hehe, we could do it on anything." Yukio formed a water whip that grabbed a stick.
Yukio covered the stick with water, which seemed to be revolving around its surface. Then he slowly guided the stick toward the tree trunk.
The stick effortlessly pierced the tree, leaving a hole behind.
"Woah. Wait, then why have these kinds of weapons?"
"Because they not only reduce chakra wastage but also make it easier to control elemental chakra, making them ideal for battles where these factors are important."
"I see."
"Yup. Now watch some basic katas I'll show you. After that, you'll learn by fighting your own clone, just like before," Yukio remarked.
"Fine," Yumi huffed.
She didn't like being spoonfed anyway. Plus, she wanted to kill Yukio and Miyuki, so it was better they didn't teach her much; she might feel more guilt later.
Well, she couldn't imagine herself feeling guilty in the future, as she wouldn't allow herself to get attached to Yukio and Miyuki.
She was going to kill them. They were her enemies, and that was that.
Yukio finished the demonstration. "I'm out of chakra. See you later." With that, Yukio puffed out, revealing he had been a shadow clone.
Yumi continued her training until the afternoon.
She then went to have lunch at the house, where it seemed Yukio had already prepared the meal. Well, it's more like the seals were automated. While Yumi couldn't understand how it worked or how to do it herself, Yukio hadn't made an interface for non-fuinjutsu users.
After lunch, she returned to her training, fighting her ice clones.
They were using wooden swords just in case something went wrong. It also increased the durability of the ice clones.
Later, after some ninjutsu training in the evening, she went home and took a bath.
"Hmm, what are you doing here?" Yumi saw Miyuki relaxing in the bathtub. It seemed she had just finished her own training.
"I'm going to start living here from now on," Miyuki said without opening her eyes.
She really enjoyed the feeling of water soaking her body and head. She always had.
"Whaaat?" Yumi groaned.
Now she had to live with Miyuki too?
It was one thing to tolerate Yukio, but living with Miyuki would be hard. She truly hated Miyuki from the bottom of her heart.
Yumi sat on the opposite side of the bathtub, which was filled with hot water.
The tub was large enough to accommodate four people if they wanted to stretch their legs.
"That does make sense," Yumi remarked.
They were dating, so it made sense to her.
"When are you getting married?" It was normal to marry young in the shinobi world since the life expectancy of ninjas was low, and shinobi matured faster physically due to chakra use.
"Soon. Haven't decided when."
"Will you have a ceremony or something?"
"Haven't decided yet."
"What have you decided?"
"To relax now."
"Well, I guess that's more important at the moment." Yumi stopped talking and focused on relaxing.
It really was nice to unwind after a long day of training.
Miyuki left first.
The trio gathered for dinner.
Yukio and Yumi always ate at a fixed time. Miyuki joined them, as she planned to sleep after dinner anyway.
"So, when are you planning to take Yumi on her first mission?" Miyuki asked, prompting Yumi to get excited at the prospect.
She was bored of training like a zombie every day.
"Haven't decided. What about you? When are you taking Itachi?"
"I'm thinking tomorrow."
"Hmm, well, if you're going tomorrow, take Yumi with you too. It would be more efficient, wouldn't it?" Yukio smirked. He had one less task to do now.
"Fine, but you owe me," Miyuki deadpanned. She could see why he suggested that.
"Wait, why do I have to go with her and Itachi?" Yumi was ready to protest.
"Because, as a shinobi, you need to be ready to use whatever weapons you have at the moment, and that includes cooperation. So you have to do it."
Yukio hadn't mentioned the cooperation part but instead delivered a cool line about how a shinobi could use whatever was available in any situation.
As expected, Yumi couldn't argue with that.
"Fine." She would somehow tolerate Itachi too.
He wasn't really that annoying; it was mostly Yukio's constant mentions of him that made Yumi dislike him.
They finished their food and went to their respective rooms.
"Hmm, you're going to sleep in this room?" Yukio asked though he had expected this.
"Yup, it's my room too now."
"Fine."
Shifting her belongings wasn't hard. She only had to transfer her scrolls, and the house had a system to make the process easier.
Next morning...
"So, are you ready for your first mission? Got everything you need?"
"I always have everything ready in my bracers," Yumi answered.
"Looks like Yukio taught you something after all," Miyuki teased.
"Hmph, he's a better teacher than you."
"I haven't taught you anything yet, so how can you tell?" Miyuki smirked.
"Well, I can tell. It's just my opinion. If you want to change it, you'll have to prove yourself."
"Sounds like too much work. Maybe another time," Miyuki said with a teasing smile.
"Fine. Not like I care."
They made their way to the Uchiha Clan compound using the Body Flicker Technique, stopping at the gates. It wasn't allowed to body flicker inside clan residences.
Some people didn't follow that rule, but neither Miyuki nor Yumi belonged to that category.
The Uchiha guards didn't question Miyuki, as she had been a regular visitor for nearly a decade.
"What do you think of the Uchihas?" Miyuki asked with a giggle.
She wanted to provoke a reaction from the Uchihas, who were probably eavesdropping on their conversation with their Sharingan or by enhancing their hearing. It was always fun. The last time she asked Yukio this question a few years ago, the consequences... well, they were amusing.
She didn't know much, but from what Mikoto had told her, the Uchihas were planning to rebel against the entire village.
Fugaku had somehow stopped the rebellion.
Miyuki wondered if something like that would happen again.
"Hmph, just a bunch of prideful people who think they're great because they have shiny eyes and believe they're ninjutsu masters just because they can copy low-level jutsus," Yumi said without hesitation.
She didn't know people were eavesdropping on them.
"Is that so?" Miyuki smirked.
'Seems like no rebellion will happen because of this,' she thought, internally disappointed. The adult Uchihas wouldn't be angered by this. They had enough self-awareness to know that what Yumi said was true, and it was even more pronounced among the younger, more foolish Uchihas.
What Yukio had said a few years back, though... well, it had made the Uchiha blood boil.
What he said was also the truth, but he had explained some actions that led to it how the Uchihas had reacted, and so on.
He had spoken for ten minutes straight, and with each passing minute, the Uchihas listening had grown more furious.
Rumour had it that some of them even evolved their Sharingan by one tomoe.
Miyuki still doubted the validity of that rumour, but it was possible, so she hadn't dismissed it entirely.
