Chapter 35: 35. Sa-chan likes who?
(Powerstones please~)
"But why did you ask?" Yumi looked at Miyuki and tilted her head.
What is she trying to gain from her?
Yumi was always cautious about the information she shared with others, as Yukio had taught her.
Yup, Yukio was the one who taught her.
Yumi still couldn't understand the mystery that was Yukio.
That guy's motivations and intentions were so strange.
"Yukio is so weird," Yumi blurted out.
The Uchihas who heard that felt their blood pressure rise as they recalled a previous incident.
"Is he? I guess he's a bit different," Miyuki said, placing her hands behind her head.
She scanned the area, looking at all the places where she sensed someone eavesdropping.
The Uchihas doing so immediately stopped.
It was a warning from Miyuki.
She didn't want any of Yukio's information leaking here.
Yukio was paranoid enough to know some of his information could slip through Yumi, but he had probably taken that into account before sharing anything.
Still, Miyuki liked to be extra careful. You could never be too cautious in the shinobi world.
"Hmph, I don't think 'different' is enough to describe him. I can't understand him," Yumi added.
Miyuki had already activated a silencing seal the moment she heard Yumi mention Yukio.
She also warned people not to look in their direction, and with the seal visually distorting their image like a genjutsu, similar to the Academy clone jutsu, it ensured their privacy.
"Hehe, sometimes I can't either," Miyuki giggled.
She wondered if Yukio always understood her.
"Really? His actions are so random."
"Well, it's good for a ninja when you can't predict them. You could understand him if you knew more of his actions, known or unknown," Miyuki explained.
"But how can you understand him if you don't know all his actions? You can't know everything," Yumi pointed out, raising a finger at Miyuki.
Miyuki raised an eyebrow. "That's why I said I don't understand him fully. I can make some predictions about what he'll do. Sometimes they're right, sometimes they're not. Anyway, I have a good enough grasp of who Yukio is, at least to me."
"Hmm," Yumi hummed. She kind of understood, and yet didn't.
Either way, she wasn't curious enough to ask more about Yukio. She would rather ask Kakashi.
He was nice and hadn't killed anyone close to her.
His only flaw might be his friendship with Miyuki and Yukio, but she could overlook that.
They finally reached the clan head's house.
Miyuki rang the bell, though it probably wasn't necessary since neither she nor Yumi were hiding their chakra. Mikoto had likely sensed them coming from more than a mile away.
Yes, doorbells exist in the current shinobi world.
"Sensei, I'm ready," Itachi said, opening the door, already dressed in his combat gear.
"Hehe, we need to take a picture. You look so cute, kyaaa~" Yumi and Itachi both deadpanned as Yumi stretched his cheeks.
Itachi briefly considered whether stabbing Miyuki now and claiming self-defence against child molestation would be a valid excuse in court.
"Hehe, I told him the same thing and was waiting for you," Mikoto said, holding Sasuke in her arms.
Sasuke stretched his arms toward Miyuki. "Hehe, we think the same, Sensei." Miyuki took Sasuke from Mikoto.
"I've got the camera ready too," Mikoto summoned a camera from nowhere, complete with a stand so everyone could be in the picture.
Yumi felt awkward. Should she be in the photo? It felt weird to be part of another family's picture.
Mikoto placed her hand on Yumi's shoulder. "You're going to be in the picture too."
"I-" Yumi shut her mouth when she saw Mikoto's face.
She was a crazy and violent woman, and Yumi wasn't ready to get bonked by her.
Then the photo clicked using chakra strings.
Because why not?
They were shinobi, after all. They could've used chakra seals too, which would have been more efficient, but Mikoto hadn't delved much into seals.
"Sa-chan, see you later," Miyuki pinched Sasuke's cheeks and handed him back to Mikoto.
Sasuke started crying, flailing his arms and legs as he was passed back.
"It seems Sa-chan likes me more than you," Miyuki teased Itachi with a smirk.
Itachi, who had turned around, almost face-planted on the ground.
That was a critical hit.
"Th-That's not true," Itachi tried to argue.
"I don't know about that. See? He's crying because he was taken away from me," Miyuki whistled.
Mikoto watched the interaction with an amused smile.
"I think that's true. I've never seen him cry when he's taken away from you," Yumi chimed in.
She had lived with the Uchihas for a while when both Miyuki and Yukio were on a mission.
Her only conclusion from those experiences was that Sasuke really hated her.
She didn't know why, but that evil baby got her bonked by Mikoto more than once.
She had also seen Sasuke grinning whenever she was beaten.
That baby was already sadistic.
Yumi didn't want to imagine what he would grow into.
Uchihas really are evil.
Two key examples came to mind: the time Yukio and Miyuki were sent to stir up conflict between Kumo and Iwa, nearly sparking a war, which left tensions high between the villages, and the mission where the two, along with Fugaku, were sent to deal with the aftermath, resulting in Fugaku showing his Mangekyō Sharingan.
However, neither Yukio nor Miyuki had inquired much about Fugaku's Mangekyō, only knowing that one of his abilities was Amaterasu, which made sense.
The awakening of the Mangekyō Sharingan depended not only on experiencing intense emotions but also on one's bloodline potential.
The latter eased the awakening process. Otherwise, many Uchihas would have awakened the Mangekyō during the war, and the Senjus would have been wiped out by the sheer power it provided.
There was a reason Madara targeted Obito. He was kind-hearted like Naruto, so if someone like him broke, it would almost guarantee his awakening of the Mangekyō.
The only scenario in which Obito wouldn't have awakened it was if his bloodline potential was trash, but that wasn't the case, as Obito did eventually awaken the Sharingan.
In fact, he awakened it to protect someone. (A/N: Lol, do you know which other Uchiha awakened it in a similar way?)
"It's just a coincidence. Sasuke rarely cries when anyone leaves," Itachi stubbornly refused to accept the truth, even though he had noticed it himself.
He wasn't ready to wake up to reality.
"Anyway, I think we should go," Miyuki signalled the others to leave. They nodded and waved goodbye to Mikoto.
Sasuke's crying grew louder.
They body-flickered away from the house.
Soon, they reached the gate. Miyuki didn't need to show anything to the guards, as her reputation as a Jounin—unofficially an Elite Jounin—granted her certain privileges.
They began flickering through the forest.
Body Flicker was only a D-rank jutsu and was chakra-efficient for travel.
At least for Miyuki. Not so much for the other two, but they could rest and recover. At their current speed, Miyuki's chakra reserves wouldn't take much of a hit.
"What's our mission?" Yumi asked.
She was supposed to go with Yukio, but he dumped his responsibility onto Miyuki.
"We're heading to the Land of Earth to gather intelligence from our spies," Miyuki finally revealed the mission.
"Woah, that's so cool!" Yumi's eyes sparkled.
"It seems our mission will be tough from the get-go," Itachi became serious as he listened.
He hadn't expected his first mission to be like this. From what he had heard, his clan members told him it would generally be some D-rank missions like babysitting or walking the Inuzuka clan's dogs.
He had even practised by babysitting Sasuke in different scenarios where he could cry.
It seemed all his efforts had gone to waste.
"We'll be fine. Miyuki isn't that bad, no matter how irresponsible she seems," Yumi patted Itachi's shoulder as he frowned.
Yumi misunderstood his expression, thinking he was worried about the mission's objectives.
They were still flickering at a similar speed, so it was possible to hold a conversation.
"I'm not worried about the mission," Itachi said, trying to reassure her. He had complete faith in Miyuki's abilities.
The other two assumed he was just putting on a brave face and let it go.
"Anyway, wasn't Yukio-niichan supposed to take you on your first mission? I wasn't expecting you to come with us."

Important
Guys, I will be starting a new fic sometime in December and either NCE or TMHLU would have to stop, I am going to do that for TMHLU as I have decided the plot for NCE mainly.
TMHLU wasn't as successful as I wanted it to be the next big thing, but I guess expecting 2 reincarnator fic to flourish was too much to ask for...
Thank you for supporting TMHLU so far, I might change this decision if in this month TMHLU somehow gets ridiculous support, but I think that's less likely.
Oh, just to clarify, chapters of TMHLU would be coming till I decide to create the new fic, so yeah.
