Naruto: Teach Me How to Love You

Chapter 33: 33. Elemental Swords

(PS :))

"Okay, next is the sword. You have to master using it. It should be a bit different from the kunai, but the combat principles are the same," Yukio said, throwing a wooden sword at Yumi.

"If I want to use an ice coating with a sword, what are the requirements for the sword?" Yumi asked, panting as she caught the sword from the ground.

She had been working like a slave. She would definitely give Yukio a cruel death.

A death so bad that even the Inuzukas would fear it.

"Well, it depends on two factors. One is your sword's quality, which is proportional to the material it's made from."

"Oh, what type of materials? Is it element-specific or something?"

"Well, yeah. Let me show you instead." Yukio took out a scroll and unfurled it. A lot of swords fell to the ground, their tips sinking into the earth.

"Whoa, teach me that later." Yumi had heard that you could somehow control the trajectory of summoned weapons, using it in battle and for cool tricks like this.

She could already imagine herself using it to bully Itachi.

"Wake up," Yukio flicked her forehead.

"I am awake, ouch," Yumi muttered, really hating Yukio.

She only stayed silent because his arguments were logical and produced results.

"Anyway, check out all these swords," Yukio said, and Yumi noticed that all the swords appeared identical.

"They seem similar."

"Hold them, then."

Yumi obliged and held one of the swords. Her eyes widened.

"This... is hot," Yumi remarked. She felt discomfort holding the sword—not too much, but enough to make her question its use in battle.

She switched to another sword. "This one is kind of similar to the previous one, but it has differences too, so I can't say they're the same."

She picked up a third sword. "This... this sword is related to water release, isn't it?" Everything clicked for Yumi.

The sword felt familiar, almost as if it was welcoming her. She looked back at the first two swords. "The first one was fire, right? It feels opposite to this sword, and the second one should be lightning."

"Yup," Yukio confirmed, lying on the ground with his hands behind him, supporting himself while his legs stretched out. Standing is tough for old people like him, so he prefers comfort.

Yumi checked more swords, noticing that while they were similar to the previous ones, they had subtle differences she couldn't quite pinpoint.

"This one is wind, and this one should be earth." She finally identified the five elemental swords.

"Go ahead and go through all of them," Yukio prompted her.

"Hmm, okay." She went through all the swords. At some point, she noticed a sword that felt strangely familiar, even though she hadn't touched it.

When she finally placed her hand on it, her mouth gaped in shock. As she let her chakra flow through it, ice formed along the blade's edge.

"This... this is a combination of water and wind, perfect for ice-release," she said, swinging the sword a bit. But she had coated it with too much ice, making it too heavy to wield.

She dropped the sword and paused, looking at the other swords in horror. "Don't tell me, all of them are for different kekkei genkais?"

She had sensed that some of the swords resembled the fire sword she had chosen earlier. Now it made sense—they were probably derivatives of the fire-nature sword.

"Bingo. It took you long enough to figure it out. I thought I'd grow old at this rate," Yukio said in a deep voice, trying to mimic Hiruzen.

Hiruzen would have gotten high blood pressure if he heard that thought.

"Why do you have all these swords?" Yumi ignored Yukio's joke about her taking too long.

He hadn't said much about it before, so she was naturally confused. She didn't mind his remarks, but what she hated was when Yukio said that if Itachi were in her place, he'd have probably done what she couldn't.

It made her hate Itachi.

Just like how Asian parents compare their children to some genius neighbour's kid who becomes a doctor at the age of five.

"Well, why do you think so?" Yukio made a contemplative face—though Yumi knew he wasn't actually thinking about it.

Yukio was contemplating whether or not to answer her question.

"Because you have weird hobbies?" Yumi guessed.

Well, she wasn't wrong.

Ninety per cent of the time, that answer would be correct. However, this was the ten per cent exception.

Yukio stood up. "Nope."

"Then, why?"

"Because I want to learn all kekkei genkais." His answer left Yumi speechless.

"Is that supposed to be a joke?" Yumi couldn't tell when Yukio was being serious.

It would normally be rude to ask such a thing—especially if a Uchiha were involved—but she had lived with Yukio long enough to know him a bit, and she was starting to understand him.

"No, I'm serious." He moved toward the sword, now resembling a hammer due to the amount of ice covering it.

"Wait, but aren't kekkei genkais supposed to be bloodline limits? Plus, don't you only have mastery over water?"

"Yeah," Yukio said, lifting the ice hammer-sword.

"So how are you going to do it? Or is it for when you're older and have learned all the elements?" Yumi tried to imagine an old Yukio.

One with a white beard.

She shivered. It seemed so out of place.

Yukio made a hand sign, and lightning flickered across the ice-sword.

Yumi snapped out of her imagination and watched. The lightning intensified, flickering rapidly, and steam started to cover the sword. Soon, all the ice had turned into steam.

"Whoa, I didn't know lightning could be used that efficiently to melt ice," Yumi said, surprised.

It seemed she'd have to be more cautious of Miyuki in the future.

"Watch," Yukio said, letting his chakra flow into the sword.

To Yumi's astonishment, ice began to form on the blade once again.

"No way," Yumi gasped. She had never seen anything like this.

Her bloodline limit no longer felt like an advantage.

"Hmm? This isn't pure ice-release, is it?" Yumi noticed that there wasn't much wind-release chakra involved.

It didn't need much, but it was even less than expected.

"Yup, you noticed. I don't have much experience with wind-release, so I can't fully use ice-release yet."

Yumi sighed in relief. At least she wouldn't be surpassed just yet.

But then she paused. "Wait, what about the kekkei genkai for water and lightning? You have decent mastery over lightning, and I don't even have to mention water, right?"

Yukio smirked. "So, it seems you can think after all." He put the sword back on the ground, the ice melting away once again from the lightning.

"Hmph, I was probably smarter than you at your age."

"Hmm, I guess that's true, hehe," Yukio said with a reminiscent face, then shook his head.

He stretched out his finger, and a water whip honed in on a sword far away, pulling it toward him—a perfect jutsu for a lazy person like him.

"Hmm, how can you tell which sword is which?" Yumi wondered if there was a way to identify them.

"I'm a sensor, so yeah," Yukio briefly replied, retrieving the sword.

Yumi didn't like the word "sensor." It reminded her of how Miyuki's poor sensing abilities led to their clan's downfall.

It reinforced her desire to kill both Miyuki and Yukio.

"Are you going to keep staring, or are you going to come back to reality?" Yukio's words snapped her back to the present.

He could guess what she was thinking, but he wasn't guilty. It wasn't technically his fault.

After all, that guy had tried to kill them first. If he had resorted to talking, none of this would have happened.

He probably underestimated their abilities.

Yumi looked at Yukio, and in the next instant, a blue light covered his sword.
