"Starting tomorrow, you'll train with me in the morning. Tell your parents you won't do housework anymore. After morning exercises, we'll spend the afternoon at the blacksmith shop. Yuki, in the meantime, look for medical books or help out at the hospital."

"Okay, Brother Ryuusei," Yuki agreed readily.

Yamashita hesitated. "What if my parents don't agree?"

"Then stand firm," Ryuusei replied, his expression serious. "Even if it means braving a beating."

Yamashita's face fell, but he quickly steeled himself. "Alright. I'll convince them today, no matter what."

After lunch, the trio began clearing up. Yuki noticed the pile of fish bones and crab shells before Ryuusei. "Brother Ryuusei, you've been training hard—your appetite's grown again!"

Ryuusei glanced at the scraps, realizing his appetite had indeed increased. "It must be the chakra refining technique my dad got from the Senju family. My body needs more energy to keep up. Later, let's make more ground cages in the bamboo forest. We'll need more food as our training intensifies."

Yamashita's eyes lit up. "You really have the Chakra Refining Technique? Can I learn it?"

Yuki looked hopeful, too.

Ryuusei scratched his head awkwardly. "Unfortunately, no. Senju Miyuki-sama explicitly said I can't share it. You'll have to wait until the ninja academy."

Though disappointed, the other two understood the gravity of such a restriction.

In the bamboo forest, Yuki and Yamashita worked on the ground cages while Ryuusei focused on chakra refinement. He cycled his pitiful reserves of chakra, using it to nourish his body while exercising to enhance digestion and efficiency. By the time the sun began to set, they had finished crafting new cages.

They headed to the river to collect their catch, replacing the old traps with new ones. Then, they decided to check the forest traps.

As they reached one of the traps, rustling branches revealed a trapped deer. Yamashita dashed toward it. "Ryuusei, look! This will fetch us a lot of money back in the village!"

Ryuusei examined the deer carefully. "Let it go."

"What? Why?" Yamashita asked, confused. "Oh, I see! You feel sorry for such a cute animal. You're so gentle, Ryuusei."

Ryuusei shivered at the word gentle. "Idiot. Cuteness means nothing to me. The reason is simple: this deer might belong to the Nara clan."

Yamashita hesitated. "But what if it doesn't? There are so many deer in the forest!"

Ryuusei fixed him with a glare. "And what if it does? If the Nara clan finds out, they might demand compensation—or worse. To them, we're worth less than their deer."

A calm voice interrupted from above. "Well said, little brother."

The trio looked up to see a teenage boy with a pineapple-shaped hairstyle and a wooden forehead protector perched on a tree. He spoke lazily. "But don't worry. The Nara family values human life over animal life—though barely."

Despite his casual demeanor, Yuki and Yamashita trembled in fear at being addressed by a real ninja. Ryuusei stepped forward, shielding them as he bowed deeply. "My apologies, ninja-sama. I meant no disrespect."

The Nara ninja jumped down, smiling. "No need to be so tense. But yes, this deer is ours. Here." He tossed a small pouch to Ryuusei before untying the deer and leaving.

Once the ninja was gone, the trio slumped to the ground, their fear evident. Yuki counted the money inside the pouch. "Wow... five thousand ryo!"

Yamashita's fear evaporated instantly. "We made an extra two thousand ryo! Let's catch more deer and sell them to the Nara clan."

Yuki smacked him. "Do you have a death wish? We got lucky this time."

The sun was setting as they gathered their remaining prey and headed home. A shadow watched them from the trees—it was the Nara ninja.

"That kid's pretty sharp," the ninja murmured. "Their little fishing cage idea is clever. But even we are on edge these days. With the Hokage gone, the Uchiha clan has been acting like rabid dogs. Hopefully, things stabilize once the Hokage returns."

Back in the village, Yuki broke the silence. "Brother Ryuusei, I finally understand why you want to be a ninja. This kind of humiliation is unbearable."

Ryuusei chuckled. "It's just the way of the world. But when the Hokage returns, things will improve. Without him, families like the Nara and Uchiha have too much leeway."

Yamashita remained quiet until they reached the village. Finally, he spoke with newfound determination. "Ryuusei, I've made up my mind. I will become a ninja."

Despite the dramatic declaration, his appearance—wind-blown hair and prey in each hand—drew laughter from the others.

At home, Ryuusei handed the day's catch to his mother, Nami, who beamed with pride. "Such a bountiful harvest, Hoshi-chan!"

Later, as they washed dishes, Nami mused aloud, "I've been thinking of opening a restaurant. What do you think?"

Ryuusei smiled. "It's a great idea, Mom. Your cooking is the best. I'm sure people will line up to eat. You'll make a fortune!"
