Naruto: Abnormal Ninja World

Chapter 2: Become A Ninja Together

It wasn't easy.

Yamamoto Ryusei almost cried with joy as he finally extracted chakra after failing hundreds of times.

"But what can I even do with this chakra?"

Ryusei pondered as he felt the faint energy circulating within him. He had no ninjutsu or genjutsu techniques, and his chakra reserves were too small to practice even basic skills like tree climbing or water walking. For now, all he could do was use chakra to gently warm his body.

After physical training, the cells absorbed the chakra, making his body slightly stronger and more energetic. Ryusei figured out the cycle: by nurturing his body, he could extract more chakra, and with more chakra, he could better nourish his body. It was a perfect loop—except for one issue.

Chakra is a fusion of spiritual and physical energy. Warming the body also taxes the spirit. Overusing it will leave me mentally exhausted. I need to pace myself, he thought.

Ryusei refined chakra again, using it to warm his body. After a few cycles, dizziness set in.

"This body is still too young. Things will improve as I grow older," he mused.

After tidying up his small home, Ryusei headed to the forest near the village for physical training. He kicked tree stumps, ran with weights, and practiced forms of martial arts he remembered from his previous life.

---

"Ryusei-kun, you're up early again!"

A brown-haired boy ran toward him, mimicking a ninja's posture.

Ryusei raised an eyebrow at the shorter boy. "Shuang, don't you have chores today?"

The boy, Yamashita Shuang, grinned. "Nope! My parents went to sell cloth in the market, so I'm free. Also, just call me Shuang—no need to be so formal."

Ryusei tried to maintain a neutral expression, but the corners of his eyes twitched. Shuang in Japanese sounded fine, but in Chinese, it had... other connotations.

Not wanting to dwell on it, he quickly changed the topic. "Then call me Ryusei. No need for 'kun.'"

"Absolutely not!" Shuang shook his head fiercely. "You're my savior—the one who pulled me from the abyss!"

Ryusei sighed. Shuang was exaggerating again. All he had done was stop some village kids from bullying Shuang. But ever since that day, the boy had latched onto Ryusei, treating him like an older brother.

---

A cheerful voice interrupted them. "Arguing again, I see."

They turned to see Komiya Yuki, a blonde-haired girl in a blue dress, holding a basket. Her expression carried a mix of amusement and disdain.

"You're the last person who should talk about childishness, Yuki," Shuang retorted, his face turning red. "If you weren't the only girl, no one would've let you play the bride during family dinners!"

Yuki flipped her ponytails with a smug grin. "Ugly? And yet you all fought to marry me, didn't you?"

"Marry you?" Shuang scoffed, giving her an exaggerated once-over. "You're not even as pretty as the women in the district near my house—long legs, nice figures... Every time we play, I have to be their son just for you to play bride!"

Yuki turned red with rage. Dropping her basket, she lunged at Shuang, twisting his arm. "Take that back!"

Ryusei rubbed his temples, recalling the first time he met these two. Back then, Shuang had been beaten by a group of rowdy kids while Yuki tried, unsuccessfully, to intervene. Ryusei stepped in, sent the bullies packing, and unwittingly became their leader.

---

"Let go!" Shuang yelped, squirming under Yuki's grip.

Yuki only tightened her hold. "Say I'm not ugly!"

"Never!" Shuang cried dramatically.

Ryusei clapped his hands. "Alright, enough. Let's focus on dinner."

Yuki released Shuang with a huff, brushing imaginary dust off her dress. "Fine. What are we eating, Ryusei-kun?"

"Whatever the traps caught," Ryusei replied, leading them to the forest edge where he had set snares. Unfortunately, all the traps were empty. "No luck today. Looks like we'll have to fish."

They headed to the river, where they had placed nets and cages. Ryusei's haul was modest—some fish, shrimp, and crabs. Yuki, on the other hand, held up her basket triumphantly, full of fish and a few eels.

"Brother Ryusei, look!" Yuki beamed.

"Not bad," Ryusei praised. "Let's fry the eels today."

Shuang ran over, carrying his own cage. "Look at all these crabs—AHH!" A crab pinched his finger, making him yelp in pain.

Ryusei crushed the crab's claw with ease, earning an awed look from Shuang. "Ryusei-kun, you're amazing!"

"Start training properly, and you can do this too," Ryusei said, shaking his head. "Now, Yuki, let's clean the catch. Shuang, set up the pot and fire."

---

Dinner was simple but hearty—fried eel, boiled fish soup, and steamed crabs.

"This is so good!" Yuki exclaimed, sipping her fish soup. "Ryusei-kun, can you teach me to cook like this?"

Shuang, his mouth stuffed with crab claws, added, "Yeah! You should open a restaurant—you'd make a fortune!"

Yuki rolled her eyes. "Don't be stupid. Ryusei wants to be a ninja."

At her words, the mood turned serious. They all knew that becoming a ninja as a civilian was nearly impossible without connections.

"Ninja schools might open one day," Ryusei said thoughtfully. "But even then, civilians will mostly be used as cannon fodder on the battlefield."

Shuang and Yuki fell silent. Finally, Yuki looked up and asked, "Why do you want to be a ninja, Ryusei-kun?"

Ryusei gazed at the starry sky. "To control my own fate. I don't want to die because I couldn't fight back."

Yuki smiled. "Then I'll become a ninja too."

Shuang raised his fist high. "Me too! Even if I die, I'll die on the path of a ninja!"

Ryusei extended his hand. "Then it's a promise—we'll become ninjas together."

"Together!" Yuki and Shuang placed their hands over his, sealing their pact.
