My Pet Beast is Super Fearsome

Chapter 47 - 47: One Cut

Chapter 47: Chapter 47: One Cut

“Roar”

Qiuqiu let out a roar, folding its wings and charging toward the ground with an unstoppable momentum. The spinning giant fireball was compressed by the swift airflow, turning into a shuttle shape.

Its velocity quickly increased, and shock clouds actually formed on both sides of the shuttle-shaped fireball. Amidst the huge sonic boom, the pebbles on the ground also trembled slightly, bouncing up and down.

Shao Zifeng, lying on the ground, was awakened by the sonic boom, painfully covering his ears.

“Hiss~chirp!”

Boom——

Smoke filled the air, and the ground shattered in layers.

Shao Zifeng, still on the ground, was once again sent flying by the shockwave.

Dammit!

Fortunately, because he was far away and lying on the ground, he didn’t suffer any harm this time.

“Qiuqiu!!”

As the explosion subsided, Shao Zifeng quickly got to his feet. Because of the blackout and the sonic boom, he wasn’t quite sure what had happened. Looking around, he saw the burning flames and the dust from the explosion in the distance, and his heart skipped a beat.

Trouble!

Yelling Qiuqiu’s name, Shao Zifeng scrambled towards the explosion site, filled with self-blame.

If only he hadn’t taken the shortcut, if only he hadn’t accepted that mission, if only he hadn’t left the house after seeing the text from the Abnormal Administration Bureau, none of this would have happened.

At this very moment, Shao Zifeng was full of regret, wishing he could slap himself.

As he drew closer to the explosion site, Shao Zifeng didn’t hear any sound, nor did he see the figure that would always act coquettishly towards him.

“Qiuqiu!”

Standing amidst the dust, Shao Zifeng shouted again, some hope lingering in his heart, even if just for a slight response.

All around was still silence, without the slightest sound.

Concentrating, he sensed the emotions around him, but the feedback was void.

He searched aimlessly in the dust, his breathing becoming difficult. He took a towel out of his bag to cover his mouth and nose.

Blinded and unable to see, he knelt down and groped around bit by bit.

But apart from the uneven ground and some spider remains, he didn’t find that small figure.

Each time he sensed for emotions, it was like a stone sinking into the sea, without the slightest response.

His heart slowly sank to the bottom, as if his eyes had lost their luster.

Having lived in a boarding school since middle school, he had become accustomed to being alone, to darkness and solitude; at least, he thought he was.

But ultimately, humans are social creatures, and he too sought friendship, attention, and someone to confide in and be a source of emotional support.

He also felt envy, envying those who had friends to comfort them in their defeats, parents accompanying them on trips, and those who could cry and shout freely when saddened.

In the end, he couldn’t bring himself to make that step.

Until.

Until Qiuqiu came along, like a beam of light piercing through the darkness of his world. It was mischievous, coquettish, cute, and playful, making him smile.

It gave him the feeling of being needed, of being relied upon.

That feeling, which he never had in his nineteen years of life, really felt great!

But now, he couldn’t find it.

“Plop”

A crisp sound of a stone hitting the ground rippled through the darkness.

Shao Zifeng’s eyes instantly brightened with hope reignited.

Shao Zifeng groped towards the source of the sound, his heart filled with both nervousness and anticipation.

His trembling hand touched something, squeezed it; it was soft and somewhat rough. He moved his hand to the side, and Shao Zifeng forced his eyes open.

In the lingering dust, a huge shadow loomed, with eight cold spider eyes gleaming with a dangerous red light.

“Not good!”

An alarm bell rang in Shao Zifeng’s heart, and he rolled away on the spot.

A spider leg, gleaming coldly, stabbed out from the dust, skimming past his body and impaling the ground as flying shards of rock cut his cheek.

“Hiss!”

Catching the scent of blood, the wounded Split-eyed Demon Spider let out a hoarse roar, tinged with madness, and moved its spider legs, following the scent towards Shao Zifeng.

Having dodged the attack, Shao Zifeng wiped the wound on his face with his hand, a hint of fear rising in his heart.

As the dust from the explosion gradually cleared, visibility improved slightly.

Shao Zifeng watched the Split-eyed Demon Spider, which dragged its five amputated legs and covered in wounds, and a surge of rage replaced the fear in his heart.

‘Why are you still alive? I can’t find Qiuqiu, how dare you live.’

Shao Zifeng’s eyes turned red, veined with blood, as he’d never felt such intense killing intent towards anything before.

Rage and murderous thoughts clouded his mind, making him ignore the gap in strength between them; even though the creature was severely injured, it was not something he, a human, could handle alone.

Shao Zifeng took a deep breath, lifted his right hand, and traced a line in the air. A semi-transparent Space Rift appeared, and then a simple Tang sword slowly flew out of the rift.

He reached for the Tang sword, placed it at his waist, his right hand on the hilt, his eyes fixed on the Split-eyed Demon Spider.

“Hiss!”

The Split-eyed Demon Spider let out an excited hiss. That tiny insect hadn’t run away. Although its mouthparts were missing a piece and its voice was hoarse, it didn’t care.

Using its three relatively intact legs to drag its heavy body, it fervently moved toward its prey.

“Hiss!”

“`

Suddenly, the Split-Eyed Demon Spider paused, emitting an annoyed cry, “Damn it, why are you retreating again.”

Shao Zifeng pressed his hand on the hilt of his sword and retreated while carefully observing the Split-Eyed Demon Spider’s wounds.

Although he had gotten a bit carried away just now, wishing he could kill it immediately, he had decided, upon calming down, that he couldn’t just act recklessly.

The Split-Eyed Demon Spider was in a pitiable state at this point, barely supporting its massive body with three legs, two on the left and one on the right, with a visible gap in one of the legs.

All the lumps on its back had burst open, leaving behind blood holes oozing green liquid.

Seeing this, Shao Zifeng’s eyes lit up; without the strange eyes on its back, the spider’s innate ability was as good as gone. The remaining three legs were not the attacking forelimbs, so they shouldn’t pose a big problem.

The only thing he needed to watch out for was the ‘Death Ray’ long-range attack, but with its mouthparts in such bad condition, whether it could still use the attack was questionable. As long as he was careful, dodging should be no problem.

Later, he could take advantage of its difficulty moving, circling to its right side to target the gap in the leg there. When it lost its right leg support and toppled over, the bloody holes on its back would become its weak spot.

A plan roughly formed in his mind, and he felt it had a very high feasibility.

Shao Zifeng, his hand still pressing the sword hilt, started to make his way to the right of the spider, his eyes fixed on the weak spot on its leg, internally pondering the angle and force of his strike, wondering just how many times he would have to chop to sever it.

Cursed his lack of skill in anything other than crude sword techniques—otherwise, this might have been easier.

The Split-Eyed Demon Spider was almost exploding with anger by now. Originally, when it saw the little bug standing still, it thought crawling over would lead to a delicious meal, and it even started considering which part would taste the best. But then, to its surprise, the little bug began to retreat.

It hadn’t gone far before it started circling around itself; already unsteady due to the missing legs on the right, making it spin in place was just mean.

“Hiss~ Qiuqiu”

Struggling to maintain its balance, the Split-Eyed Demon Spider turned a few circles in place, uttering an impotent cry of rage that turned into a “Qiuqiu” because of the leaking mouthparts.

In the end, it decided to fight stillness with stillness and lay there motionless, not believing the little bug could do any harm.

Shao Zifeng, seeing the motionless spider, became cautious, slowing his pace as he approached its right leg.

“Thump thump”

He tapped it tentatively with the scabbard.

The spider remained unmoved.

Shao Zifeng took a deep breath and went over his plan once again in his mind; it was flawless, utterly perfect.

What came next was likely to be a prolonged battle. As long as he could kill it to avenge Qiuqiu, he didn’t mind the effort.

His left hand held the scabbard while his right gripped the long handle of the Tang sword and pulled.

It didn’t budge.

Shao Zifeng was dumbfounded. He looked at the hilt and the scabbard that didn’t seem to fit together and was puzzled—what was going on, why couldn’t he draw the sword?

After a few more tries, the hilt was still firmly attached to the scabbard.

Damn it!

While he remained motionless, the Split-Eyed Demon Spider, which had been immobile, seemed to get impatient, wanting to turn back to see what Shao Zifeng was doing.

“Crack”

A grinding noise came from the damaged joint.

When Shao Zifeng noticed the spider making a move, he tensed up and jumped back.

Threads of red light appeared on his hand and were promptly absorbed by the hilt.

“Clang”

A harsh sound of a sword rang out.

Shao Zifeng felt the previously immovable hilt, pushed outward by Giant Power, almost slipping from his grasp. He hastily forced himself to strike toward the spider in front.

As the hilt was ejected, dazzling threads of red light burst forth from the blade, too bright to look at directly, and the temperature around him skyrocketed.

“Hiss~ Sssss~”

Shao Zifeng shut his eyes, hearing only the shrill shrieks, splattering juices, evaporating steam, and heavy thuds, until all around him fell silent.

He twitched his nose slightly, smelling an unpleasant burnt scent.

Shao Zifeng opened his eyes a slit, peeking cautiously at his surroundings before suddenly widening them in shock.

In front of him, the massive body of the Split-Eyed Demon Spider was split in two, with steam rising from the smooth cut, twitching intermittently.

Gazing through the bisected body of the spider on the ground, he saw a dark cut extending toward a castle structure in the abandoned amusement park.

The moment Shao Zifeng laid eyes on the castle, a burst of fire erupted from the dome, slowly distorting, and then about a third of it slid off as if cleaved by a sword.

Shao Zifeng’s eyes were wide with disbelief as he took in the spectacle, his mind struggling to comprehend.

Did I cause all this?

No, Shao Zifeng shook his head, dismissing the unrealistic thought from his mind.

Then he looked down at the Tang sword…hilt

Indeed, what he was now holding was just the hilt; the blade was nowhere to be found.

If it wasn’t the sword’s fault, then it could only be…

Shao Zifeng lifted his left hand, observing the plain and dark scabbard attentively.

Blue light flashed in his eyes.
