My Pet Beast is Super Fearsome

Chapter 46 - 46: You Will All Die

Chapter 46: Chapter 46: You Will All Die

“Damn it, why aren’t they here yet.”

In a narrow and cramped alley, a young man leaned against a mottled wall, his silver-white hair simply tied into a ponytail.

Pale cheeks bore a crimson scar, and from his left arm embraced by his right hand, blood seeped continuously through his fingers, dripping onto the damp ground and diluting in the puddles of foul water.

Burial Fox’s face was ghastly; he was hiding at a T-junction in the alleyway, occasionally poking his head out to see if anyone was pursuing him, then cursing under his breath once more.

A few days ago, he received an assignment from the organization to investigate the cause of death of two mid-level Hiddens in Su City. For the organization’s headquarters, the death of two Hiddens was not a big deal.

However, the situations of these two were special. One was a pillar of the radio station, able to provide plenty of reliable intelligence, and the other was a company boss who had contributed a considerable amount of operational funds to the organization’s regional division.

One must understand that even in a small inland city within Greater Xia, cultivating and building trust in members was no easy feat.

The organization’s years of planning had only nurtured a dozen Hiddens, and those with special positions and functions were limited to mere three. Now, two of them had died simultaneously, which was an indisputably severe loss.

When he first accepted the mission, he thought Su City was just a small inland city with no particularly strong Combat Training Masters. He figured that he could complete the mission quickly as long as he was careful.

However, shortly after arriving in Su City, he received a message from a Hidden embedded in the Abnormal Administration Bureau, who said that the situation was urgent, there was a risk of exposure in the organization, and that Burial Fox needed to divert the Bureau’s attention so that he could personally deal with the defector.

After the success of the operation, he would secretly assist ‘Burial Fox’ in concealing himself again to carry out the mission, and would fully cooperate during the course of the mission.

Poor Burial Fox had not even had the chance to eat a warm meal before being forced to start working.

Glancing at the time again, it had been ten minutes past the scheduled time, and still no message had arrived.

The Abnormal Administration Bureau officers chasing him were all converging in this direction, soon to encircle him. If he didn’t leave now, he would truly be trapped.

“Fuck, I can’t wait any longer.” Burial Fox gritted his teeth and summoned a Blood-sucking Tarantula. He took off his coat and threw it over the creature, commanding it to stay put and not move, then turned and ran deeper into the alley.

After Burial Fox left, the alley was eerily quiet. The Blood-sucking Tarantula, with Burial Fox’s coat draped over it, lay still on the spot. The alley was so narrow that it had difficulty even turning over. Its eight indifferent spider eyes watched the disappearing figure, revealing a rare hint of sadness.

“Here! The target is here.”

A cacophony of footsteps and the barking of a pursuing dog approached. The Blood-sucking Tarantula turned its head and used its massive body to block the alley, glaring fiercely at the oncoming people and issuing a decisive hiss as it charged forward to meet them.

“Hiss!!”

Near Pei Yong’s apartment complex, inside a black van, Luo Feng was sitting in the back on a spacious seat, legs crossed, occasionally looking down at the time.

This ordinary-looking residential area was now under strict surveillance by their people.

“Report, no suspicious individuals found at the west gate.”

“Report, no suspicious individuals found at the east gate.”

“Report, south gate…” “Report, north gate…”

“Report, the target woman is still sitting in the living room watching TV.”

Hearing the reports come through his earpiece, Luo Feng frowned. In his original plan, by leaking the news of Pei Yong’s escape, the Bureau’s undercover agents would have to act to avoid exposing themselves.

For this operation, the Bureau was making a high-profile search, while he was lying in ambush on this end.

The discovery of a suspect in Nanping district had increased his confidence in the plan’s viability, but as the encirclement nears its conclusion, there had been no abnormalities on his end, forcing him to reconsider the flaws in his plan.

One has to know that for ordinary people, without reaching a certain level, it is impossible to know that beyond the Abnormal Administration Bureau, Greater Xia holds this concealed secret department.

Theoretically, with the Bureau currently distracted, the opposing Hiddens shouldn’t miss this perfect opportunity to use Pei Yong’s family as leverage.

The current situation left Luo Feng puzzled, unable to figure out where the problem lay.

“Knock knock”

Luo Feng tapped his fingers against the wooden armrest, and suddenly, a possibility came to mind.

‘Unless, this organization has known about our existence for a long time.’

With this thought, the current situation made sense, but… if that were the case, why reveal themselves and not remain hidden, and why release someone to attract attention?

His frown deepened, his finger-tapping quickened. If this was the situation, the forces behind these people could be an enormous entity.

Luo Feng closed his eyes and massaged his temples, falling into deep thought.

On the outskirts of Su City, the fire still showed no signs of abating. In the sweltering environment, Shao Zifeng felt a drop of cold sweat fall from his forehead as he watched the three enormous Split-eyed Demon Spiders in the distance, licking his dry lips with his tongue.

The atmosphere was somewhat quiet, save for the “whooshing” sound of the flames fanned by the wind – not a single other noise could be heard.

Sensing the fluctuating emotions in Shao Zifeng, Qiuqiu, who was resting in his arms, opened its eyes, struggled out of his embrace, and landed on the ground, positioning itself in front of Shao Zifeng.

Looking at Qiuqiu in front of him, Shao Zifeng felt a mix of joy and concern.

Even though it had taken an energy potion Type I and had its wounds treated with medicine, Qiuqiu’s condition was still not promising. Shao Zifeng could sense the worry contained in its emotions; it was afraid that something might happen to him.

“Hiss!”

The three hisses rose, and the sweltering environment made the Split-eyed Demon Spiders irritable, their violent moods compelling them to want to tear the two small insects in front of them to shreds.

“Ying!”

Qiuqiu turned its head back, giving Shao Zifeng a bright-eyed call, signaling him to leave first.

Despite his reluctance, Shao Zifeng knew he would be of no help and would only distract Qiuqiu into protecting him. With no other choice, he moved his feet and carefully started retreating backward.

“Hiss!”

The Split-eyed Demon Spider detected Shao Zifeng’s movement, issuing an irate hiss to alert its companions. Then it lifted its cumbersome spider abdomen, the several bulging flesh lumps on its back trembling incessantly, the eyes on the lumps spinning chaotically. When it caught sight of Shao Zifeng, the eyes stopped, locking onto him.

The moment Shao Zifeng was targeted, his heart felt as though it was gripped by a large hand, his forehead instantly beaded with fine sweat, struggling for breath as if in the next second seven tall black men would appear to carry him away.

Seeing this, Qiuqiu grew anxious, its eyes instantly igniting into two fireballs. The array before it lit up, and the fire elements in the void became exceptionally active, quickly condensing in its mouth, and a deep red Elemental Ball flew into the center of the array, bursting into dazzling red light.

A whirling column of flame erupted from within the red glow, carrying a howling blast towards the Split-eyed Demon Spider.

“Hiss!”

The Split-eyed Demon Spider, witnessing this, shook its back a few times. Its eye, which had been fixated on Shao Zifeng, rolled slightly, and a grey-white thin line shot out, meeting the thick column of fire head-on.

“Tss”

As the two attacks collided, there was no explosion as one might imagine. The capability of the grey-white ray was eerie, endlessly breaking down Qiuqiu’s column of fire.

The originally thick column of fire was continuously disintegrated, turning into clumps of flames scattering about, and ultimately dissipating into the void.

Moments later, the center of the Fiery Breath was completely broken down, leaving only a thin layer of fire feebly spinning.

Witnessing this scene, Shao Zifeng suddenly remembered what this ability was. As the ray was about to penetrate the Fiery Breath, Shao Zifeng yelled out urgently,

“Qiuqiu, dodge quickly!”

“Ying?”

Qiuqiu didn’t understand, but out of trust, it leapt to one side. Just as it left its original spot, the fine grey-white ray grazed over the scale armor lifted on its head.

“Tss!”

The piece of scale armor that was grazed instantly vanished, leaving behind only a semicircular gap. Shao Zifeng saw this with both fear and relief in his heart.

“Ying ahh ahh~”

Qiuqiu turned its head back to glance at Shao Zifeng again, signaling him to leave. Strands of fire elements started to waft out of the gaps in the scale armor, as a pair of massive fiery dragon wings condensed behind it.

“Shoo—”

Qiuqiu flapped its dragon wings, transforming into a streak of flowing light, shooting out like an arrow released from a bow, the tips of its wings emitting a piercing sonic boom as it rushed toward the direction of the three Split-eyed Demon Spiders.

“Hiss hiss!”

Upon seeing this, the three Split-eyed Demon Spiders grew even more enraged, opening their mouthparts and hissing loudly, simultaneously lifting their backs as a barrage of grey-white rays shot densely towards Qiuqiu.

“Shoo—”

“Tss.”

Qiuqiu, with the aid of its fiery dragon wings, constantly flipped and shifted in the midst of the dense attacks. The ground behind it was hit by the grey-white rays, leaving a cluster of deep pits.

At that moment, a beam pierced through Qiuqiu’s left wing, causing its flight posture to suddenly become unstable. It struggled to control the fire element to plug the hole, flapping its wings to adjust its posture. The airflow generated by the wingbeats lifted the dust and broken stones from the ground, scattering them all around.

The distance between the two parties rapidly closed in, and the Split-eyed Tarantulas gave up on using their more precise “Fission” talent. Their fierce mouthparts with protruding fangs parted, revealing a dark abyss of a mouth, while their twenty-four eyes filled with brutality and madness.

Dark purple energy balls formed in their mouths, and then transformed into three thick pillars of energy that shot towards Qiuqiu.

“Death Ray, Qiuqiu, be careful!” Shao Zifeng shouted upon seeing this skill.

“Ying ao ao!”

Qiuqiu let out an angry roar, feeling extremely suffocated. The three beams grew larger in its pupils; it vibrated its wings and turned into a fireball, rising against the odds and dodging the Death Ray midair.

“Boom boom boom”

Three loud explosions were heard, as the beams, one after another, hit the ground, turning into three dark purple hemispheres that expanded and merged into one before rapidly shrinking to a single point.

“Boom!”

The blinding flash caused Shao Zifeng’s eyes to sting, and tears flowed uncontrollably. Then a deafening blast and a fierce shock wave swept through, feeling like a hammer struck his chest, throwing him far away.

After hitting the ground, he rolled a few times on the scorching earth. Shao Zifeng just felt dizzy and couldn’t open his eyes as he lay on the ground, eventually losing consciousness.

Qiuqiu had difficulty resisting the shock wave; seeing Shao Zifeng get blown away and lying motionless on the ground, it let out a mournful cry, wanting to immediately return to his side.

“Hiss”

Barely dodging another attack, Qiuqiu glared down at the three spiders on the ground with eyes full of rage.

A hint of mockery flashed in the eyes of the Split-eyed Demon Spider as it occasionally attacked Qiuqiu.

Qiuqiu, extremely enraged, summoned a huge Array in the air, and a dark red energy ball quickly formed in its mouth. This time, however, Qiuqiu chose not to release it but instead swallowed the Elemental Ball whole.

Upon ingesting the highly condensed fire element, Qiuqiu’s entire body swelled. Flames surged out of the interstices of its Scale Armor, its eyes, nostrils, and even through the tight seams of its closed mouth—not just elemental flames anymore, but real high-temperature Fiery Breath.

“Roar~”

Qiuqiu let out a painful cry, a roar Shao Zifeng had never heard before, resembling the roar of a real dragon. It shuddered, tumbling in the air, its fire dragon wings unable to stabilize its form as it plummeted toward the ground.

Droplets of fiery tears fell, yet behind the flames, its eyes showed not a hint of retreat as it tried hard to control the fire within.

“Roar!!”

“Brats! Hurt Qiuqiu, you! All! Shall! Die!!”

Suddenly, a pair of outrageously large fire dragon wings unfurled, their span several times larger than before, casting a shadow over the ground.

Between the wings, Qiuqiu seemed exceptionally tiny. It brought its wings together, enveloping itself within. Just before closing completely, it gave the three Split-eyed Demon Spiders one cold stare.

The fire dragon wings enclosing Qiuqiu spun wildly, the fire being compressed by the wind, revolving and charging towards the Split-eyed Demon Spiders below.
