Chapter 2: Flowing resentment, a new man
It was the next day as Kaname woke up, reliving the memories of the previous night. Witnessing the beginning of destiny was quite unique and strangely fulfilling. He got out of bed, thinking on the night before. He got dressed in his school uniform, grabbed his bag and breakfast, and left his home to head towards Karakura High School. It was a quaint school and was quite homely and had a good vibe to it.
Stepping beyond the school gate before they closed, he went to his classroom of 2-C, where Ichigo was at. Kaname was well known throughout the school for various reasons and purposes, but his beauty and various skills like archery and music were very reknowned through out the school and nearly all of Karakura. He was apart of the swim team as well and was often the source of their various wins.
As he scanned the classroom, he spotted the strawberry from miles away due to his unique, yet natural hair color. Around him were various friends like Orihime Inoue, Tatstuki Arisawa, and even Mizuiro Kojima. Orihime spotted him and greeted him with her cheery, yet somewhat air head persona. "Good morning Kaname!" she shouted his name with hints of familiarity.
"Yo, Orihime" Kaname said in kind as he took his seat beside Ichigo. His presence was changed, more pronounced on the spiritual scale. It was quite new, and Kaname observed with interest. "What you looking huh!" said Ichigo in his 'delinquent' persona. "Just your presence. It feels much more pronounced than usual I suppose" Kaname said as he took out his notebook and an art book to pass the time.
"What are you gonna draw today?" asked Orihime, her eyes scanning filled pages of black and white drawings, portraits of figures and classmates in traditional garb of the Heian Era. "I have no idea, maybe a drawing of the famed Abe no Seimei, or how about the famed emperor of china, Qin Shi Huang" Kaname said as he cycled through the endless options. "What about a shinigami?" asked a girl with short black hair and dressed in the female uniform.
"What are you doing here!?!" shouted Ichigo as he pointed at the new student, Rukia Kuchiki. "I don't have some things for class, may I borrow from you?" asked Rukia as she extended her hand towards ichigo, a message written on it.
'Say a word about it, and you will deal with the consequences'
Ichigo gulped nervously as he was hammered with questions from the students. Kaname on the other hand, looked at Rukia with curiosity. Her vessel, a soulless body used by shinigami to interact with the human world, a Gigai, seemed to contain her spiritual power within its confines. Shinigami technology was interesting to Kaname when he read the works up to a point. He found it really advance for a society that seemed stuck in a japanese drama about the eras years ago.
Class went on from there, and after class ended, Rukia seemingly dragged Ichigo to a meeting place after sucker punching him in the stomach. Kaname silently observed them and remembered the talisman stuck to Ichigos back. He began to weaved a seal under his desk, and he could here what they were talking about. Feeling the moment arrive where they were talking about Ichigo taking over Rukias job, the talisman flew from Ichigos uniform and floated between them.
Ichigo and Rukia looked at the talisman with apprehension as the resentment flowing with began to flow outwards. Rukia, fearing the worst, immediately donned a red glove to put Ichigo into soul reaper form, the talisman projected the form of Kaname in traditional hanfu attire. Rukia reacted with surprise and curiosity. "Hey Ichigo, it this a thing humans do?" she asked the only person she knew. "Hell no!" answered Ichigo immediately as he stared at the projection.
"Don't mind me, keep discussing your spiritual duties" said Kaname. The real Kaname was commanding from afar, asleep during lunch hours. Rukias eyes widened with surprise and shouted "How did you know about?!" she shouted, her glove ready to send Ichigo out of his body into shinigami form, his giant zanpaku-to would put her at ease with the unknown variable in front of her. "Call me interested in the works of the shinigami" said Kaname. Rukia, still apprehensive, let down her guard only a fraction. "Who, yet what are you?" Rukia asked.
Kaname pondered and answered "Call me a spell caster for simplicity. Explaining my system of power seems redundant to do so" said Kaname as he gestured to the talisman reflecting his form. "A spell caster, your abilities don't seem to match, but could you be a quincy?" she asked. "My system is similar yet not so no" said Kaname as he yawned, bored of the conversation that is happening. "Not a quicy. Your reiryoku suggest a hollow but your human, an enigma it seems" said Rukia as Ichigo, who seemingly was forgotten spoke up. "What the hell are you guys talking about?!" he asked.
"She was just trying to figure out where I stood on the spiritual species order, but I am confusing her it seems" said Kaname as he went to poke at Ichigo who dodged quickly. Kaname smiled as he tried to annoy the substitute soul reaper. He stopped when he had his fill and said "If you want help, use this talisman to notify me and see you guys later" said Kaname as the talisman sucked in the resentful energy and it flew back towards Ichigo, the talisman hiding in his pocket.
"Well that was an interesting person" said Rukia as she and Ichigo went back to what they are doing, which involved Rukia punching the soul out of Ichigos body. Kaname then awoke from his slumber, the conversation fresh in his mind. 'I now planted a seed of my influence through the talisman. Hopefully, it will get used no matter what' he thought as lunch seemed to end and he went on to his next class.
Later at night, Orihime was heading home to her apartment. Humming a tune from a tv show she watched a tiny bit ago, she seemed content in life. As she drew nearer to her home, a sudden impact with what felt like a car impacted her side, though she seemed barely hurt, but would bruise. A loud, raucous roar eminated from the night as the jaws of a beast almost went to town on her body. But a sudden feeling eminated in its mind, and it left. However, the resentment seemed to flow from the beast leaving a static imprint on Orihime.
Kaname, ready for bed sensed the disturbance but paid it no head. The presence vanished and it was no concern of his. He circulated his spiritual power in his core throughout his body and let the resentment he collected flow and form to his body, enhancing it with the power of the resentment of passing spirits. His skin seemed to pale, and red marks etched itself on his body but was pushed back due to his strength and assistance from [Eve].
"Thank you Eve" said Kaname as he now laid in bed, his thoughts on the day flowing about. [Your welcome] said Eve as she hovered nearby, and various analytics ran on her screen. [Your adaptation is unprecedented. It probably wont be long when you assimilate Wei Wuxian] said Eve. "Yeah, and then a new world awaits" said Kaname as his thoughts drifted to this world. His feelings on this world seemed to etch itself onto his heart. He felt somewhat obligated to protect it, but he felt neither the obsession or feeling to do so.
Of course he would assisst and come back to help, but his goal was to lead a fulfilling life and listen to his desires, something he did not do much in the past. Kaname, now bored of what seemed like useless introspection, fell asleep. His mind wandered to past and present, and [Eve] was on standby watching protectively before falling asleep herself, a choice she seemingly enjoyed.
