Chapter 3: Indication, a beast emerges
It was a quiet morning in Karakura, a type of morning that Kaname appreciated. It was these quaint mornings that made Kaname glad he was alive, again anyways. He swept on his uniform and was making breakfast. Eve, as usual, emerged from his body 10 minutes after he was ready. [Good morning] said Eve as she hovered around Kanames form. It was something she often did, citing that just laying dormant in his spirit was the epitome of neetdom and boredom in all of reality.
"Good morning Eve" said Kaname with a faint smile on his lips as he made his rolled omelet and began working on the fish, rice, and soup he planned on having with his meal. In the fridge was some store bought tea to drink when he did not feel like making fresh tea. [So, how do you like the world?] asked Eve as she manifested a quizzical face in the form of emotes, sometimes she even just used question marks or change in tone. "Well, its not bad here. It feels peaceful somewhat, though what happens later is gonna throw it down the drain" muttered Kaname as he ate his breakfast, everything that was done cooking a few minutes ago.
[Well, atleast you can move to other worlds you know? It was something so common that people asked for, as common as op abilities like ultimate skills] said Eve as a tone of frustation was felt in the air. "I know, you said that dealing with these 'Fools' was tiring job so you took a vacation" said Kaname as he finished up breakfast and washed the dishes. Eve was not your typical system as Kaname knew.
Eve was a powerful entity that was often in charge of reincarnating individuals from various Earths into new worlds depending on changing criteria that changed with each passing second as she felt. When Eve encountered Kaname whose wish to gain power and lead a life he deemed fulfilling, she felt moved as one would say. A breath of fresh air, she decided to give him a system which housed her in his spirit and left her post.
[Yeah, but atleast I got to meet you I suppose] said Eve as she spun around Kanames head. Kaname made sure everything was in place and headed towards school. "Im glad I got to meet you too" said Kaname, and he meant every word of what he said. He was conversing with Eve as he eventually appeared near Karakura high school and went towards his class room 2-C. As he entered the classroom, a strong feeling of resentment was present near Orihime.
Kaname quickly made his way over towards the girl, and he could feel the resentment bubble around her leg. The resentment was unusually thick, possibly due to a personal attachment made by the harmer. Kaname knew who it was, and was not prepared for it to come so soon. "Hey Kaname!" said Orihime in her usual cheery voice. "Hello Orihime, you feeling okay?" asked Kaname.
"Yeah, just that a car ran into me, I think" said Orihime as her fist made contact on top of her head in a gesture that fit her only. "Do you need any help?" asked Kaname. "Nope, I should be fine" said Orihime as she suddenly perked up at a thought. "Hey Kaname, do you think you can draw a portrait for me, I'll pay!" said Orihime as she dragged out a small, frog-like wallet. It was pitifully small, smaller than childrens pocket change.
Kaname smiled and pushed the purse closer to Orihime and said "No need, what portrait do you want?" Kaname asked her as she put her frog-like wallet away. "I have a picture" said Orihime as she brought out a picture of a tall man, with deep black hair and a gray suit. "Its my brother, I wanted a portrait made for him" said Orihime. Kaname, whose eyes now took a sad tint to them, nodded and got to work.
As I was drawing the portrait of Orihimes brother, Ichigo walked in and sat down at his desk. He was reaching for his math book as he instantly took notice of Orihimes leg injury. "What happened Orhime?" asked Ichigo with some level of concern. Tatsuki Arisawa, a friend of Orihime, also had the same question. "Well, a car kind of ran into me and so I woke up with this" said Orihime non chalantly. "What!" shouted Ichigo and Tatsumi as they made sure she was okay.
As they did, Kaname put the final stroke on the drawing and showed it to Orihime. "What do you think?" Kaname asked her. Orihime looked it over and said "Amazing!". The others looked at it as well and noticed the old style to it. "That's nice" said Rukia as she admired the painting. Kaname handed the painting to Orihimes and he watched over her through out the day.
As the nearby day ended, Kaname received a hug from the sweet girl, thanking him profusely for the drawing. "It was nothing" said Kaname as he pat the girl on his back. "But you did it without payment, of course its not nothing!" shouted Orihime. She felt doing something like that with art of amazing quality was criminal. "Whatever you say" said Kaname in a nonchalant tone. Kaname then headed home at a brisk pace as Eve then manifested herself.
[You're planning something, aren't you?] said Eve, even though the question already sounded resolute in its tone. "Of course, how can I stand by and let a girl like that experience what she's going to?" asked Kaname. [Fair enough, but even then, won't this through out your plans of a calm and relaxing life?] asked Eve?
"Yeah, the calming part. Helping people and gaining power are ways to achieve a life far different than doing nothing" said Kaname as they neared home. He headed upstairs where he kept his black and red robes, along with his own Chuqing. He hoped he would get items with his characters, but Eve said there was only a slight chance of getting a character with all their items. This chance increased when an upgrade was granted. Kaname had asked Eve when there was one, and she said it depends on his progress but most likely when he gets either a second or third character.
As Kaname was now prepared, only missing a sword due to wanting a specific one forged for his abilities, he decided to wait until he could find good materials and a good blacksmith. "Man, I can't wait for that upgrade" Kaname said to himself. [Don't worry, the upgrade is gonna be fantastic] said Eve.
It was nearing night, and Kaname managed to find Orihime's apartment complex. It looked okay, but there was wear and tear. Kaname crouched on the rooftop, waiting for a surge of resentment by cultivating. Funny enough, while Wei Wuxian is known for demonic cultivation, he did have knowledge of the Orthodox methods. Refine the qi in ones golden core, diffuse it into the body. Of course, Kaname was using the appropiate replacement energy that existed here.
As the night wore one, a surge of resentment and levels of reiryoku emerged in the night. Kaname stood up where he was, a little stronger than he was before. He then was able to perceive the hulking beast of resentment, a hollow. He smiled and as he saw it crash through the walls, he immediately jumped in.
