Chapter 7: The [YellowIdeal]
Moonlight shined onto the visage in front of Luke.
The transparent beings that stood like background figures faced Luke.
The Soul Existences' must obey their master's will and they are to capture every rebel.
In front of these transparent beings were the rebels and in front of these rebels was Luke.
Luke's eyes shined like a second sun and clearly visible to the rebels was their demise.
If they had the ability to form thoughts when their minds broke into pieces, and their souls became strange, and their bodies changing.
Their faces morph and their features disappear, and their individuality becomes removed. Their clothes turn into dust and black clothes that match their pale bodies form from the dust.
Their bodies only keeping their now vague gender.
The rebels were turning into Soul Existences, like the others, they would repeat the cycle and eventually remove everything their master wishes.
And what does their master desire?
"Bring those who have committed sins and make them atone," Luke brought his hand and faced the palm towards the congregation.
From the perspective of a rebel, who had their minds straight, these utterings would have been blasphemy, a sin against their God. The rebels had committed sin, the sin of being weak in front of Luke.
"That is your objective." and the rebels became Soul Existences.
The Soul Existences connected to Luke, suddenly, even when they were invisible to others who cannot peer into the soul reality, disappeared like a dream to even Luke.
"I will summon you when you're required." Luke waved his hand and disconnected their connection to Earth and the Soul Existences turn into dust that is carried away.
In the night of this city, Luke had removed the presence of Rebels and cities without rebels are known to the world as 'Freedom Cities' because most crimes are committed by rebels.
Luke found a bench on the side of the compound that was quiet and sat down.
He brought his hands towards his face and looked at them.
"One step closer," Luke brought his hands and just stared at the moon. "But am I right? Should I be doing this?" He brought his hood up and covered his face.
Luke started walking the roads and streets and did nothing else.
---
Today is the day, the Tower Expedition is revealed today, and every Chosen must arrive at a gate.
To be honest, I'm really scared.
My name is Tokeu, one of the millions of chosen, I synchronised with the Trade Affinity, and I had been working in this city's organisation for five days. Today, was one of the days I had to go early to work.
This was normal for me; I had been working a nine to five even before the Tower era, so I wasn't too bothered with the schedules, but one thing that is getting on my mind recently is the state of the city after the invasion.
And could you guess? Headquarters is not being friendly, so I have no way to repair anything.
Anyways, life as a chosen is surprisingly relaxing if you don't fight the anomalies or 'Monsters' as the unsynchronised say. Trade Affinity for the win as with it being a Cultural and Social Affinity, I am not expected to do any hunting, so I'm glad for this affinity.
I opened the door to my house, a detached house that was clean and went to a World Tower Association branch that was going to assign everyone jobs.
Going there, I was incredibly early and so the moon was still up.
The shadows that engulfed alley ways seemed creepy.
The streets of this city couldn't be compared to any other, it was utterly terrible and because this city is so far away, management said it was impossible for resources to arrive here.
It's scary and I can't do anything about it!
Management is so annoying.
Looking at the roads here is a priority for a Chosen, especially at night because rebels target the Tower's Chosen, but I haven't heard of a chosen's death yet.
Maybe that is because Chosen aren't usually assigned here.
The moonlight had shone the way forward through the street and I had decided to go a different route today.
Even if, the city at night was scary, I couldn't just do the same thing every day.
Now, my friends might think I am crazy, changing my route into one that is unknown, but today is special and recently, boss has been really demanding so I want to delay getting to the branch.
I just want to live a little. I've been working every day, I'm so overworked that if I wasn't a chosen, I would die.
Get it?
Throughout my walks inside this city, I had met thousands of people and very few who are not Chosen could harm a Chosen, but today I met someone who decided my life on a whim.
I had fallen to the floor because of the pressure that was like the world was upon me.
The hooded figure was standing there, and something was making me feel like he was a friend, but no amount of outside interference could change my mind, this man was a monster.
"A-Are you a Supreme?" I asked this person whilst stuttering and the man didn't answer.
I tried to get away and stand up, but the man followed me and cornered me against a wall.
"A-are y-you going to k-kill me?" Now, I may seem like an easily scared person, but I am not.
I had seen thousands of people die in front of my eyes and saw rebel torture, but this man's eye was glowing rainbows, and his other eye was changing between three colours.
This wasn't something a human did, and even human eyes don't glow, so what can I do against such a monster?
I begged.
I knelt and begged.
And finally, the man spoke.
"I will be there when you let go of the tether on your rope that you stand upon and I will be your judge and executioner and make you pay the price."
And he just left, and he had just given me an ultimatum: If I ever go astray, he will find me and kill me.
If you are wondering why I was given this ultimatum? Well, I have also killed and murdered to survive, don't underestimate a social affinity, just because it seemed not harmful.
I just leaned against the wall and sighed.
At least boss will accept me being late if I say I was almost killed by hooded figure when commuting to branch, right?
That is one good thing, right?
To treat myself, lets buy that new Spider Burger, people say it's delicious.
---
Luke steps on a rock and kicks it away.
"Should I have made him pay the price there and then?" Luke caught up to the rock and kicked it again.
"When should I stop?" Luke walked towards the rock.
"What should I do?" And Luke kicked the rock again.
Luke stops and just stands.
"I cannot be God and judge everyone," Luke looked at the stars. "But I can at least give them a choice, if they murder, torture and abuse, then they should pay reparation for their actions."
Luke has decided.
"That's fair, right, Mother?"
And Luke has chosen his path.
A few hours and five miles away the city that Luke removed the Rebels in, he found himself surrounded by the Chosen and with his hood that covered his face, Luke walked towards a gate that was a bit away from the forest where the Endless Spider was killed in.
From the memories of the Chosen which he met, Luke was able to know where the Gate was.
Luke looked at the metallic gate that looked abnormal to the surroundings, alike to a spaceship visiting a world where writing wasn't a thing.
[Welcome, The Tower wishes you the best. In five minutes, the gate will open, and you gathered into a space with everyone who have entered the gates, and you along with your peers.]
Luke was given a screen that everyone who had visited for the first time have gotten, and Luke wasn't surprised because he had foreseen this because of the memories of the chosen.
The area around the gate was like a party but with the chosen and they talked and mentioned a certain internet that was only available for the synchronised.
Luke was interested in gathering information, and perhaps a bit addicted to scrolling, he didn't mind any information, no matter how insignificant because with time, everything would connect.
Luke motioned his hand down and a screen appeared.
[Tower. Internet. Status.]
Luke tapped on Tower and the screen broke apart and reformed from glass shards into another screen.
[Tower Expedition] [Internet] [Status]
Luke tapped on [Internet] and the screen changed and formed into a simplistic website that had forums updating in real-time and they were updating quick.
"So many people are commenting?"
Luke looked at the forum and found that they were somewhat like the unsynchronised internet and Luke pressed on a certain forum.
[Tower Expedition]
[Hello, fellow chosen. Today, it's your friend Chosen here. I am here to say congratulations for coming this far and today is the day we understand what our true purpose for getting this power may be. You may be uneasy, but we live in this world with responsibilities and so we must continue living for those who relies on us.]
[A forum by YellowIdeal]
[BrownKing]: What a loser, do you have so much free time that you waste away here?
[OceanForest]: I know right? We have a life-defining moment, and this guy is wasting it by posting these things.
[EbonySour]: This [YellowIdeal] guy is posting this nonsense every day, even in the useless internet as well.
[OceanForest]: Really? Is this guy trying to do something to the unsynchronised?
[RedFlower]: I heard from my friend that this person is doing shady things.
[BlueDinosaur]: Actually, my friend said that he Is a Supreme.
[BrownKing]: What?!
[RedFlower]: This is big.
[BlueDinosaur]: He said he doesn't have proof though.
[RedFlower]: Don't waste our time with nonsense, with so many people claiming to be a supreme, it is more difficult to find someone who is not a Supreme.
[Brown King]: Yes, what [RedFlower] said.
[BlueDinosaur]: My friend has an Elite Affinity, and they told me that.
[RedFlower]: Wow! An A-Tier Affinity, so it may be true.
Eventually, the replies branched off and created a new conversation. Luke recognised [YellowIdeal] from the forum from the unsynchronised internet, one that seemed to erupt with positivity.
"Is this person actually a supreme, and are they a criminal?" Luke searched the memories of the people around him. "It doesn't matter, it will be fate if I meet him."
[One minute until the Tower Expedition, the Tower, once again, wishes you the best.]
A screen appeared in front of everyone, and the area became quiet before it erupted with noise.
"What are the tower's goals, I have to know." Luke's determined voice was quiet compared to the noise.
