MHA: The Tower Era

Chapter 3: The Manifestor

30 minutes away from the hospital, a run-down hotel stood in front of Luke. "If this isn't home, then I don't know what will happen," Luke said looking at the split in half building. "I have to say, that A-tier monster must've had a grudge against my home." After the Tower era, monsters started to appear everywhere on Earth and not all monsters are equal.

Monsters were categorized into five tiers: S Tier, A Tier, B Tier, C Tier and D tier. The monster that attacked Luke's city was called the Architect Spider, a A-tier monster with fathomless means and abilities, the spider managed to survive three hours against a S-Tier human that could change reality with the Supreme and Rare affinity of Dreams.

The ruins told a story. "That silk is still there. Even the trace of human remained," the ruins held the battle that was fought over it, webs and flickering materials mixed with white blood of the spider. "It would be nice to be a chosen." Luke says as he opens the door to the hotel and his home.

Luke's home had no one inside as they were dead when the monster invaded the city, Luke's room was lucky to still be untouched.

The night passes and the day rises.

Luke awoke from the bed and looked at the time, [6:00] and the date [30 of the First Tower Month and Year].

"Another day, this time I should kill a few more to afford that new dish," Luke drooled at the thought of food "That spider burger was really delicious.".

Luke surfed the Internet and began to get ready.

After leaving his humble home, he met three people who wanted to rob him, but he killed them and left them on the streets with new holes.

Their bodies becoming one of the countless that were left in the darkest corners of the city, Luke did not commit murder but cleaned up dredges of the Rebellion.

Finally, Luke arrives at the gate that was the boundary that separates the wild and civilized life, but today seems an unusual day as monster hunters, hundreds of which hunt even earlier than Luke, have been waiting and talking with each other.

A rough man that seems like the leader spoke to a blue-haired woman, "Alice, you said that today was a good day, so why are we waiting?" he said as he motioned towards the gate.

"I heard that some high tier monster has formed inside the forest," The woman shrugs before she clenches her fists "And for the last time! I am not a mind reader or rogue!"

The leader coughs, "Well, okay. So, we wait until it cleared?" The woman looks at the man and decides she wouldn't save him next time, "I don't know."

A black-haired woman, who saw noticed the woman's mood quickly approaches and gently guides the woman away, she glares at the leader and left the gate along with the short man and the blue haired woman.

The leader left alone, looks at the gate in disbelief.

Luke approaches the man and starts a conversation.

"You have trouble with the party?" Luke looks towards the three people who had left.

"Ah! You wouldn't understand, they are such pains," The man, Jake, says as he places his hands on his forehead.

"Must've been hard managing them."

"Yeah. But they're my teammates, I wouldn't be anything without them." Jake looked fondly at the sky that was darkening.

"I've been traveling with them ever since the Tower came here, it's been fun, but sometimes I feel like I am on pins with them," Jake's expression rapidly changes from anger to serene. "They're good people, nevertheless."

"That's nice. So, what's up with the argument?"

"Ah... The long hair one, Alice, says there's been a buildup of Energy," Jake said as he looked at the gate. "Monster Hunters are waiting to get confirmation, but I think that they're just stalling it out until a Supreme Affinity user comes."

"Ah, the Manifestor?" Luke asks as he raises an eyebrow.

"Yes. The Manifestor defeated the Architect Spider a few days ago, I bet that the reason why he is so quick is because there is a gate here."

"A gate? You sure?"

"No."

The two men just look at each other and an awkward silence arose.

Luke stares at the ground before he says something, "Nice talking to you, I'm going to go look at the forest", and leaves to exit the gate.

Jake shouts at Luke, "Hey! Don't get killed, there aren't enough of people like you!".

Luke quickens his steps.

After checking in with the guards and walking for half an hour, Luke enters the forest that had become quiet.

The only sounds coming from Luke's footsteps, Luke is suddenly reminded of the Monster formation forum from a few days back.

When Energy gathers to form a creature, the surrounding life is suctioned to fuel that growth. "Whilst it is not that noticeable with small creatures, it seems like a natural disaster when it is a high tier creature." Luke ponders that thought and continues to walk.

The small lives like crickets or ants were there, but none of monsters like goblins, canines, rock golems and mutant flesh.

"That goblin was also unnatural; my hometown didn't have any myths about goblins." Luke considers the abnormality of the forest.

Luke is suddenly met with a new monster, an Orc, a muscular pig human that reeks of blood.

Its breathing was labored and rough, every step it took broke apart the ground.

Bringing his gun up and aiming at the Orc's shoulder and then their head, Luke shoots and runs away from the area.

The Orc was shot in the shoulder, but the bullet that aimed for its head was stopped in midair by a red wall.

Luke looks at the Orc and runs away without any hesitation.

The Orc ran after him, its blood that is leaking from wounds on the stomach and shoulder slows it down.

Using the trees and rocks, Luke takes advantage of his agility and takes a couple of shots, always shooting twice in succession. Every time, the Orc would successfully block one and sometimes dodge the other, but after 10 minutes the Orc slows down and slumps.

"Is its Energy consumed?" Luke takes a cautious shot to the Orc's head and successfully adds a new hole to his enemy.

Luke slumps down and sighs, his sweat dripping.

"Only one monster, when will I get to eat that burger?" Luke sighs again and looks at the fully darkened skies.

Luke kept staring at the sky until the ground rumbled and the trees ripped into pieces.

A massive spider that was a combination of two spiders that are conjoined at the waists, the first face was like a pincer and the other alike to a normal spider head, the monster spews silk that elongates into wall.

An Endless Spider, a monster that had the Endless Affinity, an Affinity that humanity couldn't attune to has many unknowns. The reason behind the spider's conjoined body is still a mystery.

A man with yellow hair and yellow and green eyes manifested a spear that glows and pierces the silk wall. The spear reaches the spider, but it goes off course as the spider sling shots itself away in the distance.

'This is not good; I'm going to lose control again.' The man monologues.
