MHA: The Tower Era

Chapter 11: Eifrig

Inside a dark alleyway, light flickering through the buildings and casting shadows. Luke held his grip tight on a person's head. The broken soul that looked colourful is now a dim white, but what was notable was the lack of an arm.

The soul connected to the body; the soul also houses the blueprint of the body. The difference becomes obvious when a quirk heals the arm. The arm destroyed through Luke's Soul Affinity would never return.

Previously, Luke couldn't entirely rip apart an organ from the body through Soul Affinity, the Energy he absorbed from the air increased his Energy to Class D which is part of the reason for his developing power.

When the shadows covered the person's body, the colour of skin had turned pale and the features of their face gone, Luke had finally turned this criminal into a Soul Existence.

The process being violent as the criminal tried to escape, their mind broken and pain flooding, but it was in vain as Luke held them to the floor.

"It took much longer than before." Luke glanced at the time, the sun had fallen below the buildings, and the dim lights became complete darkness, and he stood up from floor.

"I can't convert people like I had done before," Luke ruminated. "the quirk strengthened their soul, so it isn't feasible.", he wasn't disappointed by this result, where should lack in quantity, the criminal had inherited their quirk.

Luke watched the man stand up and look at his surroundings. The criminal and Luke looked into each other's eyes and the criminal understood who was more powerful.

The criminal spoke. "I greet my boss! I'm not sure which boss you're talking about." The man suddenly saluted.

"What?" Luke blurted. "Are you okay boss?", Luke compared the man's sudden sentience and his cracked soul.

"It seems that I do not know everything about my Affinity." Luke sighed. "Where is the person you worked with." Luke addressed the man.

"Um. Boss? I didn't work with anyone else. Are you sure you're not going crazy?" The man swirled his finger next to his head.

"No." Luke got a headache. "I can't find them and now I have this thing." Luke muttered and put a hand on his forehead, predicting his headache.

The man seemed offended. "Boss. I'm not a thing you know." The man then turned downturned. "I'm a person, you know."

"Alright. Since I made you, I must take responsibility." Luke pointed at the man, "I can't call you a thing, so I'll give you a name." he declared.

"A name! Boss! Give me an impressive name. One that will strike fear!" The man suddenly spun in excitement.

"How about you choose?" Luke looked away, as if he was embarrassed.

"What? And turn away a name given by you?! No! Give me a name!" The man fell to floor, but slowly crawled to Luke and held his leg.

"Get off."

"No!"

"Alright."

The man stopped holding and looked at Luke with anticipation.

Luke was troubled, the naming sense that he had was not great, he decided to throw a few names out to test.

Eventually, they decided on a name.

The man had started dancing. "I can't believe I'm now called Eifrig. How awesome!" The dancing Eifrig looked like he would fit in a horror story with his flat face and dance movement.

"Stop, enough." Luke's gaze became serious. "Unlock your phone and we'll start removing those people." Luke pointed at the phone that had fallen to the floor.

Eifrig followed Luke's point and stared at the phone, the phone looked like a flip phone, and it seemed cracked at the edges, he approached the phone, picked it up, and started messing about with it.

"Boss?"

"What."

"I don't know how to open the phone." Eifrig had pressed the buttons on the phone, but it didn't turn on.

"Let me see." Luke took the phone from Eifrig's hands and couldn't turn it on.

They stared at each other awkwardly, before Luke put the phone in his pocket and sighed.

"I'm really going to get a headache."

"Boss! No! Let me help!"

"No! Let go, I'm fine, really!"

"If you say so."

Luke faced his palm up and channelled his Soul Affinity to gather into an orb to create another sphere that he could see with, like the one he created when he first arrived in this world.

Luke let go of the orb and it floated up into the air, the invisible nature of Soul Affinity made it a great camera.

"That was so cool, boss! You did a swoosh and swish and a thingy appeared." Eifrig attempted to mimic Luke.

"Right," Luke turned around left. "I need to repair this phone." Luke left the alleyway through the path he entered through and in his path was the mess that the three teenagers had created.

Luke journeyed through the train station more easily because it was dark and arrived next to a repair shop, but the shop had closed already.

"Eifrig, do you mind becoming mindless?"

"What?! No! Boss, don't make me mindless!"

Luke looked at Eifrig and seemed contemplative, the rebels he converted into soul existences Luke could easily browse their memories, but when a consciousness interfered in his memory search, looking through memories became harder and more ineligible.

Luke weighed the benefits and decided that keeping Eifrig alive was better overall.

The sun had left, and the moon replaced it, it's shine falling onto Eifrig's face and highlighting its featureless face.

Luke felt that it would be helpful in finding the those who sin.

Luke walked the train station in the night, channelling his soul affinity, he increased his reach.

Forming more orbs of sight, the train station became Luke's playground, the amount of information that Luke received enabled this freedom.

"Boss?"

"Yes?"

"Why are you forming these orbs?"

"I need them to punish the sinners."

"Do you need to form this many?" Eifrig tilted his head.

"I can't let even one escape, or they would harm even more people." Luke stopped forming and looked at Eifrig.

Eifrig's featureless face didn't change, but his words did. "Alright, boss."

Luke ignored Eifrig and continued forming the orbs of sight.

"It's hard processing this much." Luke grumbled as he looked through every orb of sight.

"I wish I was an AI." Luke suddenly stopped. "Can't I make an AI?" Luke channelled his soul affinity and imagined 'Create' and created a blackhole like ball.

Releasing the ball, Luke connected the ball to the bundle of tethers, the ball followed Luke.

Being a part of Luke's consciousness, the ball could do basic pattern recognition, noticing the things required and alerting Luke in an emotionless tone.

"Alert me when there is a soul in the sights."

"Yes."

Luke looked at the ball and waited. "I guess it isn't like Eifrig, wanting a name?" Luke muttered.

"Boss? Can I go inside this shop and take some things?" Eifrig pointed towards a shop with smartphones and devices. "They look awesome!" Luke turned away from the ball and to Eifrig.

"Sure. Go ahead."

"Really?"

"The camera wouldn't see anything."

"Awesome!"

Eifrig at once phased through the wall and held every device he could hold in his arms.

"Boss! Help! I can't hold everything."

Luke turned away, looking at the other shop as if he wasn't related to Eifrig.

After a while of Eifrig's whining, Luke glanced back and sighed, once again channelling his affinity he created a cube and threw it at Eifrig, the box phasing through the wall and collided with Eifrig's face.

"Boss? What's this?"

"Put the items inside." Luke said in exasperation.

Eifrig put a device inside and waited. Eifrig asked, "I did? But nothing happened." Eifrig put the rest inside the box and shook the box as if he was checking a present's contents.

"Let's go." Luke walked away and the soul affinity energy that had been covering him went away.

"Yes. Boss!" Eifrig floated out and the box also phased with him, the box acted like a storage space, but without the space.

Eifrig caught up to Luke, walking behind Luke with a box of soul affinity held with both of his hands.

Luke went to an open hotel outside of the train station, the only one that was open, Luke paid the price, got a room, and walked up stairs to his room.

"Boss…"

"Yes?"

"Do I have to sleep?"

"No. Just go to a forest and wait until I summon you."

"Alright! Thanks, boss!"

Eifrig phased out of the hotel and disappeared from Luke's view, but the tether still connected them.

"The nature of quirks is going to make it harder to do my job…" Luke stared at the door, the number plate of 34 above, and became more determined.

"I will do anything to help the suffering." Luke said to himself.

Luke opened the door to room 34 and inside was small one room space, spotting the bed, Luke jumped onto the bed and fell asleep.
