Chapter 10: Deku
'This world is different.' Luke confirmed as he saw the news reporting the damages a villain created on a passersby phone.
'It's a lot more peaceful.' Luke took a good glance at everything, noticing the bright yellow emotions on people's soul.
'It's a world worth saving.'
When Luke walked enough so that the train station was far away, he stumbled onto an alley way.
The loud crowd, with shouts for offers and people talking contrasted with the quiet and dark alley way, the rhythmic sound of hitting reverberated inside the alley way. The smell of iron seemingly everywhere and the cracked ground showed that it had been a while before it was repaired.
Luke looked at the alleyway and saw that it was screaming.
'I hope buying this hotdog doesn't stop me from buying a hotel.' Luke decided to finish his food before checking the reason for the screaming and smell of iron.
Luke looked at the wall, but before he could finish the meal, Luke looked to side of the alleyway, where he saw three teenagers.
Luke looked serious at the scuffle between the three. Two of the teenagers were abusing a teenager and Luke peeked inside the abused person's soul and saw that their soul was blue.
A normal person's soul was blue, when they converted, they lose that blue and turn white and when something else affected their soul, their soul might change colour depending on the thing.
Luke also peeked at the other two's soul and noticed that their soul was unusual colour, the first one had a slight green tint, and the other one had yellow tint. Luke sensed something different and continued to peek at the two and noticed that their soul had an ability. Usually, the colour wouldn't express an ability, but perhaps because of the increase in his Energy, Luke could see that the first teen, with a green tint, had an element ability and the other also had an element.
Luke was surprised, 'I can see abilities? No. More like I can understand the soul better.' and their memories were clearer. Luke could see that this incident had happened more than once from the teenager without an ability.
Luke ate the rest of the hotdog and approached the three and his eyes shined.
One of them, who had yellow hair that stuck out, was about to kick the green-haired teenager, but before he could. The yellow-haired one felt like the alleyway became darker and his heart pounded quicker.
He looked up to see a hooded man who had what looked like blood on his hands approach them, and what was causing him fear was increasing and the yellow-haired teenager with school uniform held his shirt tight.
He looked at his friend and noticed he felt the same.
The two teenagers who were about to shout at the approaching man, suddenly, felt a shiver and they ran out the alley way stumbling.
They reached the exit of the alley way and escaped and joined the crowd.
Luke imagined 'Fear' and instilled that in the two, with his increased control, he could do it and not harm people who had resistance.
Luke looked at the two's memory and understood why they abused the normal man, 'Quirks and non-quirks. This is no different to my world: Chosen and not chosen.' Luke held his hand out for the quirkless teenager, and the teenager, seemingly hesitant, took his hand whilst wiping his eyes.
The teenager that was left behind also felt the fear, but because Luke didn't use it on the green-haired teenager, he didn't feel the full effect.
"Thank you." The teenager said after they calm down and Luke felt blood attached to his hand, the teenager's hand had become bloodied, perhaps from clenching it.
"Ah! Sorry. Sorry." The teenager said and bowed, and they covered their bleeding hand, the soul of the green haired teenager turned a slight yellow. "But, ah. Thank you for helping me." They seemed grateful.
"It's fine. Would you like to get a burger?" Luke said and looked at the graffiti on the wall.
The Teenager stopped for moment.
The teenager looked conflicted and stuttered.
" I... I can't. I'm sorry, but... thank you. Really... I'm Deku, see you later!" The highlight on the soul had turned a bit yellow, but it stayed a dark blue.
'Heroes are always there to save people... maybe one day, I'll be like them too.' Deku thought as he ran, and he glanced back at Luke. "Someone like him, who helps those in need." Deku ran faster.
'I should have given him money when he held my hand. That should've helped a bit. Heroes? Just another name for Chosen, parading their strength while the weak suffer in silence.' Luke considered.
Deku escaped from Luke and Luke stared at retreating figure of Deku. 'I just can't stop myself from helping someone who is suffering, huh?' Luke placed his hand on his forehead and sighed.
[Save The Suffering: 1/100000]
Luke didn't get happy, 'I didn't save anyone, tomorrow, they'll abuse him again. I just delayed it and probably made it worse.' Luke looked at the blood on the floor.
'It sucks, not being able to stop it all without breaking apart this world.'
"This world is no different from my world." Luke said and his eyes shined. "It seems every world has their issues, and my job is to make those who crossed the line atone and make this world better for people like him." Luke grinned and whilst his hands covered his eyes, light leaked through, and his grin surely scared off the nearby cats and passersby.
'In a world like this, children like him should not be caked in blood or have bruises' Luke thought.
'I played around enough; I should start making people atone for their sins.' Luke walked deeper into the alleyway.
'No one gets saved by themselves.' Luke thought as saw the alley way screaming through his multi-coloured eye.
Further inside, Luke saw dried blood splattered everywhere and footstep that seemed to belong to someone.
Luke looked up and saw a man who had a mask.
"Who are you?"
"A nobody." Luke's eyes shined and he peeked into his memories and decided on his judgement.
"Got a quirk? The boss will love you. You're just the kind of test subject we need." The man suddenly became happy and brought out a phone to call someone, but his other hand suddenly elongated, and he attacked Luke.
"You should atone for your sins." Luke said as he understood the reason for why the alleyway was screaming and the smell of blood that an only person with a keen sense of smell could detect.
"What're you talking abo-"Interrupted, the man suddenly felt a headache, and suddenly knelt, his hand that almost reached Luke deflated and returned to normal.
"What's going on… I didn't take any of those drugs," The man held his forehead and looked up and saw Luke and felt fear. His eyes went up his eye socket and he started fawning.
"Please… Don't touch me," The man suddenly lost feeling in his arms and dropped to the floor. "Don't touch… me…" he says his final words as Luke approached the man and Luke clutched onto the head of the murder and converted him.
The man looked at Luke from the corner of his eyes and decided to give one last try, his arm stretched into a pole and aimed for the chest of his attacker. 'One touch, one touch and he boom!' The man thought whilst enduring pain and he was right that Luke would go boom because his quirk was Explosive Touch.
Luke noticed this before the man even thought of his actions and imagined 'Collapse' and implemented that onto the soul of the man's arm.
His screams cut through the silence, but Luke pressed on. Redemption wasn't gentle—it demanded pain. And Luke was willing to bear that burden.
'Isn't this world just another world. One that needs to be cleaned of its sins. If I do that, wouldn't this place become a paradise, a place where we could live.' Luke mused whilst looking at the soul of man that was cracking.
"Atone with me and let's save this world." Luke said to the soul, who only had one arm. "I can't save everyone alone," Luke continued.
"On Earth, I got rid of every rebel, but nothing changed, people still died. Here, I'll take a different path—one sin at a time." Luke said as he gripped the man's head and lifted it up along with its body and spoke face to face. 'Starting with your boss, I'll remove people like you, so the world becomes just a bit better.'
