MHA: Legacy of the Knight King

Chapter 2: Chapter 2: A Knight’s Resolve

Izuku Midoriya walked through the streets, his steps steady and purposeful. His well-worn notebook was tucked under one arm, its pages filled with meticulous notes on quirks, combat styles, and strategies. He wasn't a fanboy, not anymore—but he respected heroes. Studying their techniques and tactics was vital for his goal: becoming the Knight King and the greatest hero in his own way.

"You've grown quiet, lad," came Arthur's voice, resonant in Izuku's mind. "No talk of valor or strategy today?"

Izuku smirked faintly, his green eyes scanning his surroundings. "I'm focused. A knight shouldn't let his guard down."

Arthur chuckled approvingly. "Hah! Now that's the spirit. Danger can strike anywhere, at any time. Stay sharp, my squire."

Izuku entered a dimly lit underpass, its damp air clinging to his skin. A slight ripple of unease coursed through him, but he pushed forward, his senses alert. Suddenly, a shadow moved behind him, followed by a guttural snarl.

"Looks like I found my next body!" a voice growled.

A mass of green sludge surged forward, its tendrils aiming to envelop him. But instead of panic, Izuku reacted with calm precision. Plasma sparked to life in his hand, forming a glowing sword in an instant.

"You picked the wrong person to ambush," Izuku said coldly, raising his weapon. His stance was firm, his blade steady.

The sludge villain hesitated. "What kind of kid fights back like this?"

"A knight," Izuku replied simply. Then he lunged.

His plasma sword slashed through the villain's slimy form, cutting it cleanly in two. The green mass writhed and hissed as the energy seared its edges. Before it could reform, Izuku raised his hand and unleashed a concentrated wave of plasma, scattering the remnants across the tunnel walls.

"Efficient," Arthur remarked in Izuku's mind. "But perhaps a touch less dramatic than I'd prefer."

Izuku ignored the comment, inspecting the scene to ensure the villain was fully incapacitated. "No need for theatrics when efficiency works."

A sudden gust of wind roared through the tunnel, sending bits of sludge skittering across the floor. Izuku turned as a familiar figure landed with a thundering crash. All Might, the Symbol of Peace, stood at the entrance, his towering frame exuding power and confidence.

"I am here!" the hero announced, quickly assessing the situation. His eyes flicked to the defeated villain and the glowing plasma blade in Izuku's hand. "Well done, young man. Looks like you've got things under control."

Izuku gave a small nod, his plasma blade dimming into nothingness. "He was careless. Easy enough to handle."

All Might crouched, using a pair of empty bottles to scoop up the sludge. His movements were quick and methodical, a reflection of his experience. "Plasma, huh? That's a powerful quirk you've got there. With skills like that, you must have trained hard."

Izuku's grip tightened on his notebook. He didn't blush or stammer, but the compliment sparked a sense of quiet pride. "I train every day. Being strong enough to protect people isn't optional—it's necessary."

All Might's grin softened into something more genuine. "That's a good mindset. Keep it up, and you'll make an excellent hero."

Izuku simply nodded again, watching as All Might stood, the bottles now sealed with the remnants of the villain.

"Well, I'll leave the rest to the authorities," All Might said with a laugh, giving Izuku a thumbs-up. "Stay vigilant, young man. The world needs more people like you."

With that, All Might leapt into the air.

As Izuku continued his walk to his home, Arthur's voice cut through his thoughts. "That hero—All Might, was it? He's powerful, but even the mighty can falter if they aren't vigilant."

Arthur's warning rang true minutes later. From a nearby alleyway, an explosion ripped through the air, followed by panicked screams. Izuku turned toward the commotion, his heart racing. He sprinted toward the source, his plasma already sparking to life.

When he arrived, the scene was chaos. The sludge villain had escaped from one of All Might's bottles and now held Bakugo Katsuki hostage. Flames and explosions tore through the street as Bakugo struggled against the villain's grip, but it was no use.

A group of pro heroes surrounded the scene, shouting commands and attempting to strategize, but none dared to act. The villain used Bakugo as a shield, lashing out with its sludge-like tendrils whenever anyone got too close.

All Might stood at the edge of the crowd, his face pale and his hands trembling.

Arthur's voice was sharp and commanding. "Do you see, lad? They falter. They hesitate. A knight must never waver when justice calls. Now, go!"

Izuku didn't hesitate. Plasma ignited around him, forming a glowing sword as he stepped forward. The crowd of heroes turned to him, their expressions a mix of confusion and alarm.

"Kid, get back!" one hero shouted. "This isn't a game!"

Izuku ignored them, his focus locked on the villain. His steps were steady, his gaze cold. He tightened his grip on his plasma blade as the villain roared at him.

"You again?! Stay back, or this brat gets it!" the villain snarled, tightening its grip on Bakugo.

Izuku didn't stop. He spoke calmly, his voice carrying across the chaos. "Release him, or you'll regret it."

Bakugo's furious eyes locked onto Izuku. "What the hell are you doing, Knight?! Get out of here!"

Izuku's lips curled into a faint smirk. "Stay still, Devil."

The villain lashed out with a tendril of sludge, but Izuku blocked it with his shield, the plasma hissing and sizzling on contact. With a burst of speed, he lunged forward, his sword slicing through the villain's form with surgical precision.

The sludge screeched as Izuku's blade cut through it, carefully severing the parts holding Bakugo without harming him. With a final, concentrated burst of plasma, Izuku incinerated the remaining sludge, leaving the villain in pieces (Alive).

Bakugo collapsed to the ground, coughing and gasping for air.

Izuku glanced at Bakugo, who was still sitting on the ground, glaring up at him. "You okay, Devil?"

"Tch. I didn't ask for your help," Bakugo spat, though his voice lacked its usual venom.

Izuku offered a faint smirk. "Good thing I didn't wait for permission."

Arthur's voice resonated in Izuku's mind, calm and proud. "Well done, lad. Now, a knight doesn't merely win the battle—he must also defend his honor."

Izuku adjusted his posture, standing tall and unwavering as one of the heroes, a towering man with a metal-clad arm, approached him. His voice was stern, sharp with reprimand.

[Author Note: These are just some random heroes, Not the canon ones.]

"What do you think you were doing, kid?!" the hero barked, pointing at Izuku. "You could've been killed! This isn't some playground fight!"

Another hero, "You not only endangered yourself, but you also made things harder for us by rushing in without permission!"

The murmurs in the crowd grew louder, some agreeing with the heroes, others defending Izuku's actions.

Izuku met their glares calmly, his green eyes glowing faintly with the residual energy of his quirk. He stepped forward, his voice steady but firm.

"With all due respect," he began, his words cutting through the noise like a blade, "I acted because no one else did."

The metal-armed hero stiffened. "Watch your tone, kid—"

Izuku interrupted, his voice rising just enough to command attention. "No. You watch yours. A boy's life was at stake. You all stood there, shouting orders and waiting for the 'perfect' moment to act, while he was suffocating right in front of you."

The crowd fell silent, all eyes and cameras trained on him. The heroes exchanged uneasy glances, their authority challenged.

"If I hadn't stepped in," Izuku continued, his tone unwavering, "he'd be dead. And everyone here would've been asking why the heroes didn't do anything."

Arthur's voice hummed approvingly in his mind. "Good, lad. A knight does not waver in the face of injustice."

The female hero frowned. "You're just a kid. It's reckless to act like that. Leave the hero work to professionals!"

Izuku tilted his head slightly, his expression calm but sharp. "Then act like professionals. If being a hero means standing around while someone dies because it's 'too risky,' maybe you're in the wrong job."

A ripple of murmurs ran through the crowd again. A few people clapped quietly, while others nodded in agreement.

One man in the crowd called out, "He's right! The heroes were just standing there!"

Another added, "That kid saved the day! If he hadn't jumped in, that villain would've killed the blond boy!"

The crowd began to shift, their sentiments clearly turning against the pro heroes. The metal-armed hero's face twisted in frustration, but he said nothing.

All Might, still watching from the sidelines in his civilian form, smiled faintly. He recognized the fire in Izuku's eyes—a determination that couldn't be extinguished, even under pressure.

Turning back to the heroes, Izuku took one last steadying breath. "I understand your concern. I know what I did was dangerous. But a knight doesn't wait for orders when someone's life is in danger."

Arthur's voice rumbled in approval. "Well said, lad. You've defended your honor with grace and conviction."

The heroes looked conflicted, but none of them had a response. The crowd's cheers and applause for Izuku's bravery grew louder, drowning out the tension.

As the scene calmed, All Might finally stepped forward in his true form, his smile broad but thoughtful. "Young man, may I speak with you?"

Izuku nodded, following the thin man not knowing his identity to a quieter corner of the area. The towering hero crouched slightly, his gaze serious but kind.

To Izuku's and Arthur's surprise the man then transformed into the symbol of peace

"Young Man, You've impressed me not once but twice in the same day! Now you must be quite confused by my earlier form" As he transforms back with blood coming out of his mouth." He tells Izuku about his injury.

"What you did was reckless, but it was also courageous. You have the heart of a hero, and the power to back it up. I come to you with an offer young man. My quirk, One For All. With it, you could become the greatest hero of this generation."

Izuku blinked, surprised by the sudden offer. Arthur's voice hummed with curiosity. "An intriguing proposal. But what does your heart tell you, lad?"

After a moment's thought, Izuku shook his head. "Thank you, All Might. I'm honored by the offer, but… I already have my own path. My quirk, my training, and my dream"

All Might's eyes widened, but a proud smile spread across his face. "I see. That's an admirable answer. You have the makings of a true hero, young man. I wish you luck on your journey."
