Meddling The Omniverse

Chapter 29: 29. Goddess of Healing

The following chapter is from Ristarte's point of view.

WHAT A HUNK!! I squealed internally, holding myself together. His hair was slicked back in a way that could only be described as divine. And those eyes, obviously not human with all those stars, but still piercing and commanding, like they were meant to look right into your soul. Well, he is a god, so I guess that tracks.

And that white coat? Oh, it was stylish for sure, giving off all kinds of sophisticated, intellectual vibes. But wait... is that light armor underneath? Oh-ho, so he's got a rugged side too? A professor of love, but with an edge of danger? Now that's a combo I can get behind.

AND HIS BODY! Bulked up but still lean, perfectly balanced like some sort of sculptor's dream come to life. A masterpiece in motion! The higher-ups sure know how to pick them—I salute whoever gave me this chance!

Sure, his face wasn't that soft, heartthrob look you get from eastern types, but who cares? LUCKY ME!

Okay, calm down, Ristarte. Don't get ahead of yourself. My chances of hitting it off with him? Who knows—but hey, Lady Luck, don't fail me now!

These thoughts raced through my mind as I 'admired' the man walking through the door.

"Greetings, Lady Ristarte. My name's Seth. I'm from the isekai department."

Chance! Time to steer this! I quickly put on my most charming smile. "I have no clue either, but it's got to be big since they got both of us from the Isekai department. Oh!" I gave my noggin a playful knock. "Where are my manners? I'm from the Hero branch of the Isekai department. A pleasure to work with you on whatever our big bosses are cooking up!"

Seth, ignoring my playful tone, asked, "The Hero branch? The one where they send people to other worlds temporarily?"

"Yes, that's us!" I replied, flashing my most pleasing smile. Stick to the plan, Rista! "What about you?"

He touched his forehead briefly, looking thoughtful. "I'm from the reincarnation-transmigration branch. The pleasure is mine."

"Oh, the one with the most gods, right?" I asked, keeping my tone casual but curious.

"Yeah, though yours is older," Seth answered, cool as ever.

"Welp, you can't blame them! Permanent residents are in higher demand. I've heard rumors that even with so many employees, your branch is still overworked. Is that true?"

Seth hesitated. "That's not entirely true, I think—" And just like that, we were off. He talked, I responded, and the conversation flowed effortlessly from one topic to the next. Yes, we're vibing!

In the end, I challenged him, "Let's play a game. a guessing game." Seth raised his eyebrows.

"Let's guess why we're here! Like a detective sleuthing for clues!" I slapped the two seats in the room. "Our first clue: they only gave us two chairs, which means it's just the two of us."

Okay, Ristarte, stay cool. No weird thoughts. I took a deep breath before saying, "So, my guess is they're planning some flashy event that needs young gods—fresh faces like us. Since there aren't that many across the myriad of pantheons, we must've been the best choices!" Hoho nailed it! I mentally patted myself on the back.

Seth tilted his head slightly. "Why would you assume the criteria is age?"

I waved my hand dramatically, like a game show presenter. "Because I asked!" Wait—NO! Too much! Pull back, pull back! That came out wrong!

Seth blinked, clearly taken aback. His eyebrow quirked up. "You asked?"

"Uh, yes! When they approached me, I instinctively raised my guard and questioned them! They said something about me being under the 200-year mark and not a veteran yet. What about you? I assume you're young, too, since I haven't heard of you before."

Seth pondered for a moment, then calmly responded, "I'm about 28 years old."

"DAFA- I mean 28! You're just out of the oven! But then why haven't I heard of you? I didn't mean to be rude, but you should have made a splash with your looks alone!"

"I was only allowed into the public recently, before that I was from the ***," Seth revealed his organization's name

"HIEH! THE ***!" My brain short-circuited for a moment. "Then my god your-" I paused my shock.

Ristarte don't lose your f*cking cool! Reel it in! You just crumbled your image but there's still HOPE! You've struck it big with a man like this but oh my goodness he might be out of my league! I looked at Seth's expression; he was looking at me like I was some kind of funky creature. great…

Out of my league or not. I have to salvage this and get the 'great' more-than-friends zone at a minimum. "Sorry, your age is just too shocking. To be that young..." Silence pervaded the meeting room.

Tsk! I've killed the mood, I need to do something.

Suddenly, BZZT! A crackling sound cut through the awkwardness. "Testing, hello?" a voice echoed through the room.

Seth and I both looked around. No one had entered, so it must have been one of those omnipresent speaker systems.

"Sorry for disturbing you two," the voice continued, "but the meeting is about to start."

Divine intervention! Thank you! "Oh really?" I chimed in quickly, trying to sound cool and collected. "What's it about?"

"We'll tell you later." the voice answered.

I blinked at that. That was not helpful, But sure let's go with whatever you want!

Anyway, this still needs to be asked, "Uh... do we need to prepare anything?" I asked, attempting to get more info and steer the conversation in any direction that didn't involve me embarrassing myself further.

"Well… you should prep yourself now."

What? I blinked again, confused. "Prep ourselves for what, exactly?"

"The public will be watching this meeting. So it's best to look your finest right now."

Public?!

Before I could fully digest that bombshell, the voice added, "No more questions. Just tell me when you're ready. Don't worry, you've got time."

Seth and I exchanged glances. This time, though, it wasn't just awkward, there was confusion. Public viewing? We waited for more from the voice but nope, nada, just silence.

Seth being the awesome man I assumed he was, did something I never thought he could do.

He tapped his foot, conjuring a mirror before checking himself.

I, who had just met Seth a few minutes ago, was shocked, He had just created a mirror out of thin air. Is he a god of mirrors?

Seth then conjured a hair comb and combed his hair. OK, not mirrors, that comb? Is it fashion or style?

"You want to borrow my mirror?" He asked and stepped aside.

"What kind of god are you, a god of style?" I inquired.

"No, I'm not," He clarified, " I don't know what god I am, but all I know is that I have a few tools under my belt."

"May I know more?"

"The few powers I know I have are 'Learning' and 'creation'. 'learning', allows me to learn and master many things that ordinary people can conventionally learn. The second one is 'creation', I could create anything out of thin air as long as the object is not too big and not a living creature."

Damn, that's OP! I thought before replying, "So you're not a god of styles or fashion?"

"Nope, I just mastered style-related occupations, like tailors and barbers. What about you? You said you're a goddess of healing, but I believe it is more than that."

Ooh! Is he interested in me? Did he ask just out of curiosity or not? No matter! I'll highlight my good points! I thought before answering confidently, "First of all as a Goddess of healing, my healing power is special, above those typical holy blessings! Because it can heal ANY kind of injury, even the fatal kind!"

"Really?"

"Yup! Other than healing I have flight, with beautiful gorgeous wings added to it. Wanna see it?" I bet he would be captivated by its beauty.

"No thanks, maybe later," Seth said dismissively

I was taken aback, "What!? You're not curious?"

"You're changing the topic." Seth monotonously replied.

I scrunched my face a bit, "The other powers I have are what most gods and goddesses have throughout the organization, such as opening portals, above-average god strength or stats, appraisals or scans for people and items, and finally a bit of curse removal and buffs."

Since you made me reveal this much, it should make sense for you to do the same. "I said out my powers, what about yours, now that I think of it, your 'learning' was quite vague. 'Creation' is pretty obvious and broken, since you can conjure pretty much anything. Yet about 'learning'... May I know what kind of 'learning' you have to be labeled as your pièce de résistance?"

Seth rubbed his chin, as if in the process of constructing his words. Seconds later he revealed, "The speed of my 'learning' could allow me to reach masters at any topic in hours or days. For harder and more profound topics like the world-breaking powers the cultivators utilized, it would require me weeks or months to reach their top. However, it also limits me to skills or knowledge that any ordinary person could acquire conventionally.

Wait a minute, "Isn't that like basically all the powers in the multiverse!?" if he means it like that, he's basically universal!

"The correct term is 'mostly' Ristarte. For example, I could learn any knight skills I want but will have difficulties learning knights' exclusive skills that require a specific bloodline or physique. So I will only get the general ones, where only ordinary people could learn it."

"Seth, stop being humble, don't downgrade your power, that's like 90% of power systems across our multiverse… That is RIDICULOUSLY GAME CHANGING!"

He still downplays it, "It's more like around 77,68% or less."

That's oddly specific.

"Excuse me you two, I did say you have time, but there's still a meeting to attend to." that speaker spoke again.

Being reminded by the voice, we stared at each other awkwardly and maybe embarrassedly, at least for me. I admit, our conversation was spiraling out of control…

Seth broke the ice by offering his mirror, "You still want to use this mirror?"

I nodded and proceeded to check my look in Seth's mirror. I'm now in my usual white dress which I found fine for the occasion.

"Want makeup?"

"No thanks, Seth. As the goddess of healing, my healing heals my body to its peak natural beauty." Ristarte smiled elegantly at the mirror. "I'll stick to my unblemished pure look for now."

"What about a comb? No, it should be a hairbrush. Your hair is quite tangled." A hairbrush materialized on his hand.

"Ah thank you!" I accepted his brush and thanked him before letting my hair loose freely to redo my hair.

I pulled my bow as I let my hair loose. I lifted my hair with a flip and brushed every strand with grace.

I caressed my hair in a lovely manner. I could tell Seth was staring intently at me from the mirror's reflection. Oh? Did my feminine beauty get something out of him?

Seth slowly grasps my shoulder. OWO! How bold!

"Ristarte…"

"Yes, Seth," I replied with a blush on my face, did my charm catch up to him? Will this be my big break in my love life~? Unfortunately, A logical thought kicked in. Why is he into me now?

"You miss a spot," Seth told me.

"Excuse me!?" It all came crashing down, of course...

"Your hair, you missed a spot, may I?" another brush appeared on his hands.

I with a deadpanned face said, "Sure." With this confirmation, Seth began his work.

As the brushing continued, I felt weirdly relaxed, my guess is his skills have reached a certain level that it has a calming or massaging effect.

Immediately after that, I felt a slight tension on my scalp, the kind you get from tough tangling. "Maybe he's being a little too forceful... Wait, ow, ow, OW!"

"Apologies, your hair was more tangled than I thought," Seth replied.

A minute later we were done with our looks. Seth fixed some of his coat's creases and my hair was wonderfully tied in a prim fashion (courtesy of Seth). Since all that was done, I declared loudly, "We are ready for the meeting!"

Two white halos magically hovered above us. It slammed down, and we were taken away with it.

"My Eyes! Seth! Where did you go!?"

A hand immediately tapped my back, and he spoke, "I'm right behind you."

Finally, my eyes adjusted to the light. I rubbed my eyes. That halo was too bright; when it passed through me, my eyeballs felt like they were burning. If I could report this as a complaint, I definitely would. I thought with a grudge before paying attention to my surroundings, too bad it was too dark to see anything.

A giant circle lit the whole place, "TO ALL THE GODS, GODDESSES, AND MORE ACROSS THE MULTIVERSE!" a dandy-looking man announced in the sky.

We looked towards the source of the sound, "This time, for the big event of our hero branch, AN S-CLASS WORLD HAS BEEN CHOSEN TO RECEIVE OUR SALVATION!"

"Hero branch!?" we exclaimed in unison, murmurs of excitement spread from the periphery around us.

"This time the great organization above us has allowed a special occasion for the first time since our inception! A FIRST TIME FOR US ALL, ARE YOU CURIOUS? CAN YOU GUESS WHAT IT IS?"

"FOR THE FIRST TIME IN FOREVER! THE ONE WHO WILL TACKLE THIS WORLD-"

Suddenly a spotlight shined at the place where both of us stood. Illuminating us like a duet.

"WILL BE THE TWO OF THEM!!!" Roars of shock and amazement reverberated the whole place. We could tell those screams came from millions.

"THE GODDESS OF HEALING RISTARTE AND THE RECENTLY REVIVED SUPREME GOD SETH!!!"

A festive explosion was blasted to the horizon, "YES! YOU HEARD ME RIGHT THESE TWO GODS WILL NOW BE TASKED TO SAVE THIS S-CLASS WORLD! Both of them are not experienced enough to handle this level yet! BUT THAT'S THE POINT, WITH THESE TWO COMBINING THEIR STRENGTH, NOTHING WILL BECOME IMPOSSIBLE!"

Many praises showered the both of us, giving their best regards.
